    Hello everyone..
Firstly thank you all for the wonderful messages..i have passed them all along to my Fionna..she reckons i am lucky to have such good friends and thanks all of you..

Fionna is doing great..emotional mess but being my strong girl.

We have had a family meeting and have got an action plan to deal with this..Fionna doesn't want any more pity but would rather focus on the positive..Good for her.
I have been through the mill this week up and down but after the meeting more up than down now. The outcome is we will all focus on supporting her and her little ones and Matt her partner..Her own words are " ITS NOT GOING TO BEAT ME".. so we are all united as 1..
She gone on a mini-break for a long weekend..just the coast but away from all the carp here..hoping she comes back more positive.

So i will be back on here..i regrouped and now feel more positive about it all.

Now as to what has been going on here at Flowertot Mansion..not much to be honest..i have been back and forth to the dentist everyday..i developed Dry Socket..i didn't bleed when it was extracted so no blood clot formed..Wow talk about pain..but i have had the socket dressed daily with Seaweed soaked in Oil of Cloves..its so much better now..may have to have one more dressing but thats it.

I had my visit from the Home Education Inspector too..very nice lady..told me i am her star teacher lol..she was impressed with all the work they have both done and how well Fern is doing in her Math now..so fingers crossed i get a pass again.

Its Iris's 6th birthday on Tuesday so we are planning a little tea party for her..i have made a just a plain sponge cake and iced it..so Fern and i can decorate it with the little ponies i have been secretly buying and hiding..its going to be a pink affair again..we have invited the entire family and all are coming so i will have a full house.

I just want to Thank all of you for being great people..i did cry when i read all the posts.
So until further notice i am back..life has to go on even if you feel like someone has thrown a huge brick at your head.
Hoping your all ok and well
    love you all

  • Good girl!!!
  • FTM good for you Sara, and we are here whenever you want to off load. Sometimes it is easier to tell relative "strangers" your feelings, rather than fear upsetting those closer to you.

Lots of love to you all

    Well done FTM and Fiona

    Up and attam

I spent a lovely day in London yesterday with my girlie. She said "I don't think any of us thought that i would have settled so well this week".:D

She needed some stuff from home (LOL "needed" - her list was, her house keys, Oyster card, 2 series of Friends on DVD, 2 Disney dolls, a picture off her wall and her Harry Potter wand :rotfl:). Lectures start properly tomorrow and it is full on - 9 - 6 every day - who says students have it easy and that performance based courses easiest of all?

So i am much happier now i have seen her - we went for lunch, then to buy a computer cable that she wanted, i refused to buy her a cuddly reindeer a la Frozen from the Disney shop, then afternoon tea, eventually going our separate ways at Euston.

We still miss her of course but parting was much easier than last week.

Exciting news today is that i have got tickets for Glastonbury next year :j:j:j:j So excited
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • You're a good girl too VJsMUM and so is DD well done that drama student!!!
  • VJs MUM I am so pleased DD has settled so quickly, and that your mind has been put at rest. I believe she will come on in leaps and bounds now, and what a wonderful Christmas you will all have.

You and your Glastonbury tickets :) it only seems 5 minutes since you were telling us you had the tickets for this year, so I assume that must have been last year lol. You do realise it will be no time at all before you are on here saying "I am off to Glastonbury this weekend" and that will be 2015, and we will all be a year older :)

    Much love

    Morning everybody :-)

FTM - so glad to see you back, we are always here with a supportive shoulder :-) I hope Fionna has a positive time away. As for your tooth - I have had dry socket too - the memories are still very vivid...

VJsmum - so glad your DD is settling in so well :-)

Busy weekend here with us (isn't it always?!). The weather has still not really improved but we were fortunate that we were not one of the 85,000 homes without power in Auckland this weekend. 40,000 still do not have any - a power sub station caught fire.

DH's birthday dinner with the family on Saturday night - cooking resulted in 12 portions of lasagne, 12 portions of shepherds pie and a 4 portion mousaka in the freezer using up the last bits of the sauces I cooked for the first 2. The lasagne is all eaten after Sunday dinner, still a fair bit of shepherds pie left so that will keep us going for a few days plus some for the freezer. Realised at the last minute the DH had only set 6 places and we had 7 people coming - his answer? We only have 6 chairs!! Well yes I had overlooked that, but what exactly were we going to do with the 7th person? Make them eat in the kitchen??!! Rustled up the camping table and chairs and put them across the the end of the dining table so the kids could have their own table and also everyone got a chair :-)

DH was very spoilt and we had a great evening. My cousin's youngest (14 months) discovered playing with the cat and his toys. Alfie was an absolute star with her, duly batting the feather on a stick as required - the other 2 disappeared until the coast was clear!

On sunday I had a quick visit to the garden centre to price up something I've had my eye on ($140!!) but came away with a lemon tree, some more bean plants and companion basil and marigolds for the tomatoes, as well as horse poo from the trailer down the road... All for considerably less than $140. Most things are coming on ok in the garden - lettuce seeds are up, I havent fried the tomatoes in the hanging baskets yet tho some of the ones in the bed are getting a bit eaten. Slug traps re-charged and compost bin topped up with the horse poo.

Had some potato leftovers from DH's birthday dinner, and a veg drawer full of uninspiring green, so did 4 portions of a rich vege curry called a Makhanawala (I think), 4 Tibetan noodle soups for lunch during the week and 2 portions of sag aloo. I have been working my way through Rick Stein's India book can you tell?! Chicken stock on, stripped bits of meat in the freezer for free pie another day, red cabbage braised to go with leftover lasagne for tea - it was a busy day yesterday... I am always much happier when I know excess veg has been turned into yummy things and stashed in the freezer, and will not be slowly rotting in my fridge. Freezer is full to bursting, but we wont starve that's for sure!

After all that I retreated to the bath and read a book about downshifting to the good life - which always leads me to try and cram more things into my tiny garden.... One day I really will be working from home, not doing this ridiculous commute, and I'll have chooks and veges coming out of my ears! Well, a girl can dream... :-)

We re-fixed our mortgage too on Saturday - only for 18 months so we can put in some more capital without having to wait too long. Arranged to make a capital payment next week - slowly slow it's coming down. Changing over to fortnightly payments too which will save us such a huge amount of money it's unreal, wish we'd done that from the start but you learn these things as you go I guess.

Right, really do need to get onto some work!

    Love to you all

  • Evening all. Good to "see " everyone again.

FTM - that's the attitude, you know you can weep, wail or rant at us anytime when it gets hard, we can handle it:)

I'm trying hard to get some kind of routine back now. I'm up to date with housework, cooking etc and the garden is nearly up to standard however it's nearly Monday morning again and that darned work nonsense really gets in the way of life!

I'm pleased to report the tomatoes finally ripened when I was gone and every friend and passing acquaintance of mum's was provided with armfuls of juicy red toms. There are still some left which is an unexpected bonus so I shall be enjoying them this week. I think that's all I will be enjoying until I shrink my porky middle down a bit - I thought I'd eaten sensibly whilst away however the scales suggest otherwise:eek:

Busy week ahead for me, a business trip away, a night out with friends and I need to meal plan for the next few months. I'm due a Costco trip soon and going without a clear plan is deadly, far too much temptation!

Enjoy the last of the weekend.
