Hoglet, very well done to you, onwards and upwards.
Will be back later, but Himself is just sorting through his clothes to take to the Hospice shop, must make sure he keeps some for wearing:):)

Hello, back again.
Numerous pairs of men's trousers and shirts deposited with the Hospice shop. I only asked Himself a few weeks ago if he had anything to go and the answer was NO, he has obviously been thinking about it.
Have just made 2 blackberry and apple crumbles with GF flour, will be interesting to see if there is any difference in taste. The fruit loaf I made yesterday looks lovely and smells good, so we shall have a slice this afternoon (quality control you know)
FTM isn't it a good feeling when the laundry basket is empty, until the evening of course. I stripped our bed first thing this morning so will iron that later. I love fresh sheets and pillow cases on the bed.
Fountain pens take me back to work. As a Registrar we always had to write with record ink in our birth and death registers and I absolutely loved it. It certainly makes your writing look elegant and hopefully readable. You can't rush writing like you might with a biro. It is a skill not often learned these days and I admire you for teaching the girls how to write with one.
Kate, when we both worked we were like ships that passed in the night:) so days off were a bit special. We have been married 47 years now so it can't have had a detrimental affect on us, thank goodness.
Hoglet you should be really proud of yourselves, it isn't easy is it, but it is a wonderful feeling to know you are debt free. Another 2 months and another will be gone.
Well I think it will be cheese and biscuits for lunch and fresh fruit and yoghurt, so I had better get on.
Have a lovely day all.
Much love

Morning all,
Thank you FTM and Candlelight for your lovely supportive words :-) We are fortunate that we are not crippled with debt (although we have been in past so are very familiar with the awfulness of that) but it's still wonderful to be handing over less of our hard-earned cash every month. Onwards and upwards indeed!
Well I got my horse poo on the way home - couldn't find the first place I thought I'd spotted it so had to drive a wee bit further to somewhere else where I knew there would be some. It was rather fresh! Got my used coffee grounds from the shop too and the contents of the shredder bag at work and got it all mixed into the heap. Hoping for good things from it!
Cut and come again lettuce, chives, tarragon, dill, sage, tomatoes, basil, marigolds, courgettes, strawberries, spring onions are all going into the garden this weekend - I'm going to be busy!
Love to you all

The concert performance was a huge success and they got a 7 minute standing ovation!!!!! She's so very happy and they are on thier way back home now and I'll get a text when she's back in her house, I'm so proud of ALL of them, I know how hard they work to bring so much beauty and pleasure to thier audiences, what a wonderful thing for them, just brilliant!!!0

Hi everyone,
A gorgeous day here with a lovely blue sky. Have been out all morning taking DD to the bank and shopping and now just having a rest before I start to tidy the kitchen;)
Hoglet my goodness you will have a lovely crop of veg and salad stuff, but I don't know about putting the horse poo in the car:eek:. You must tell us when your crops are growing because, of course, we are almost ready to put our gardens to bed for the winter. We are havimg a sort of indian summer, for which I am very grateful, and hope the winter won't be long and cold.
LYN how lovely for Nell to have such a wonderful reception, and for her to enjoy every minute of it as well. Did she manage any sleep when she arrived home? I imagine being on a high it might be difficult;)
I have a beef casserole in the slow cooker, which is smelling delish, and we will have this tonight with creamed potatoes, and Himself will have a couple of dumplings:j
Not much planned for the weekend, having been out for the last 2 Sundays it will be nice just to be at home.
Have a good weekend everyone
Much love

OOOH Candlelight, the casserole sounds lovely - I could just fancy it. I loaned my slow cooker to a friend who has gone away for a month before I got it back  so no such tasty treats for me as I refuse to put the cooker on just for myself.
I gave in today and spent some money on a haircut. It had got to the point where I could put my (supposedly short) hair up and the fringe blocked out the day light :rotfl:. Will be Christmas before it next sees the scissors.
Lovely day here - long may it continue.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
AOT if you lived a bit nearer you would be more than welcome to share the casserole.
I have tidied the kitchen, peeled the potatoes and not a lot else
I think now and again we are entitled to a little rest.
Take care

Hello all..what a lovely day..nice and warm..and its going to be warm this weekend too..
LYN..hi..o i am so pleased that Nell got the recognition she deserves..well done that gal..(((HUGS))) from us..
Candlelight..i agree an empty laundry basket is amazing but doesn't last long in this house..thankfully the weather is nice so i can get it all dry for free..thats the best part. Your beef casserole sounds so good and dumplings too..they are my favourite..no-one else likes them so when i pop them in i always put too many in by accident of course..I have bought Fern a lovely new Fountain pen..its lovely..she is so excited..i used to write letters to my granny even though i lived with her..and hers where the most elegantly written letters i have ever seen..i think in this day and age good penmanship is a little over looked as are spellings.
I did buy the girls new boots..from the Clarks outlet on *bay..i had a voucher for some money off..will be delivered tomorrow i hope.
I have been to the Dentist..my face was so numb is was drooping..felt ill on my way home..had the first part of my RCT done.
I let the girls have the day off school..they have been playing on the Wii and a game on the computer..Sam took them to the allotment for an hour so i could get myself together..they brought home some Beetroots and Green Beans.
O and last night my Hoover went funny and i had black smelly smoke coming out of it..so its outside in the shed..flipping thing thats twice now its done it..i got my old one out again..think i will keep that one for now..at least that doesn't fire smoke at me.
I got my Brown wool so will be knitting later..i find it relaxing and just love how it grows so quickly.
Right have to go and sort Dinner..
back later
love

Afternoon everyone, well we've just picked the very last of the blackberries from the back fence and He Who Knows is giving the old wood a good pruning and pegging down a couple of the new stems to get them to root. These have been amazing this year and produced umpteen kilos of fruit which have been eaten for breakfast, made pies and crumbles, jams and blackberry vinegar and given away in profusion to all our family and aquaintance but, it is with a feeling of relief that I have picked the last bowlfull. I did say thank you to the plants though, they've been good servants this summer.
I still have a tomato mountain in the kitchen, was planning to make puree this afternoon but it's just too hot to have the stove on and stand stirring for long periods of time, maybe if tomorrow's cooler I'll do it then.
Hope you're all well and happy and enjoying this protracted lovely summer, stay safe all, Lyn xxx.0
