Evening everyone..i hope your all ok..wow we have been rushed of our feet here..and being honest i have just flopped on the sofa in the evenings..
Well we finally know the full tally of how many fish the Heron had..we had 39 fish..now we have 14..we spent a whole day emptying the pond and putting the fish in a big barrel..Fern absolutely loved it..we caught the fish in nets and she then picked them out and plopped them in the barrel..Iris didn't want to..so she helped me move the big reeds and lily plants..boy did it smell..but we did it..the pond was scrubbed clean all sludge removed and new filters put in plus a new pond skimmer was set up..its so nice to see the girls with wellies on standing in the pond brushing it clean..all the fish are back in now and we can finally see them..we did put new netting on a frame around it with the reeds poking through it ready for next years growth.
I did cut down some of the reeds and they are currently drying in the greenhouse..will look amazing for our Autumn table.
We have now moved on to The Oceans of The World for our next project..i am loving our projects and i think the girls are too..we absolutely love SharkCam on the Discovery Channel.com..its brilliant and has made us jump more than once when a huge shark has appeared out of no-where..
We have been to Belton House and had an absolutely amazing day..the adventure playground was all ours..we had great fun on the zip wire and see-saw..the swings made my tummy go funny lol..we took them all around the gardens and had a picnic watching dragonflies around the Mirror Lake..we then decided to go for a walk up the avenue..unfortunately we found a fawn trapped in a wire fence..simon tried to free her but we could see her leg was badly broken..so sad..we went and reported it..i couldn't bear to hear her crying for her mum..it was very upsetting..i took the girls away and gently explained that she was badly hurt and the game keeper would put her to sleep..they were distressed by this..i felt awful but i think it was better to tell them the truth rather than lie..
We have been to the library and got books on the Oceans..starting that on Monday..whilst we were there we went and did some shopping..its Fionna's birthday tomorrow. She has recently decorated her kitchen..a lick of paint and new roller blind..so we have treated her..i got her a new table runner with matching placemats and coasters, tea towels, oven gloves, tea cosy and a lovely wooden sign ..and it didn't cost a lot either..all the bits were less than half price..the girls bought her a little coin purse with a lovely quote on the front of it..and put in 50p each..so sweet.
I have been in the kitchen everyday..Sam is now the Brussell Sprout king..o my god..he has been bringing buckets of them home..plus beans, cabbages and courgettes..plus the raspberry bushes are still fruiting and showing no sign of stopping..i am not complaining.
back in a moment..some at the door

Right where was i?
Simon has cut his hand open..cutting up the water melon..ooh it made my tummy go funny when i saw the blood all over..went to the hospital and had some big steri strips put on it..then a tetanus shot..haha..he ok now and its healing nicely.
I went to the doctors for my annual health check and passed with flying colours.
Fern and Iris have had a cold and been snuggled up on sofa..until today when they went to play out in the warm sunshine..i collected some lovely oak branches and holly branches with berries on for a little display in the porch also put up my Autumn wreath and my little scarecrow.
We had a special delivery from the postman..some fantastic postcards from all over the world..Argentina.Peru,America..they are just amazing..LyN Please thank Nell for them..and i so love the way all the people who sent them actually take the time to tell the girls all about the place and the best place to go and the best sights to see..i can't thank her enough..xxxxxxxxxxxx
Jack the dog had been to the vets for his yearly booster..thank god for the petplan i have with the vets..he is ok..feeling sorry for himself though..he was groomed at the same time..looks so cute but he is very dozy and asleep on his blanket at the moment.
There i think thats all of it..
MLW..o how brilliant Ezra has a tooth..o its unfair he is growing so quickly.
Candlelight i have given the girls your hugs..hope your ok?
Hoglet..congrats on winning a rugby top..and you never know if your team will win..good luck.

Hi FTM glad the postcards arrived safely and that the girls like them, I'll pass on the message to Nell when I get to talk to her, she's mega busy at the moment and has a big choral performance coming up next week in the Festival Hall in London so there are quite a few extra practises to fit in alongside all her other committments over the next few days. Glad all is well with all of you, hope Simons hand is healed and the tots are well and truly over thier cold, look after you, Lyn xxx.0

Hello all.
Supposed to be "working from home" but am struggling today. I will make the time up during the next couple of months.
I think it has hit me that DD is actually leaving next week and things won't be quite the same again. Don't get me wrong, I am excited for her and want her to go - for her. But it's tough to let your baby go isn't it?
I am also very clearly menopausal. No symptoms as such except some monthly "changes" - and a missed period saw me doing a pregnancy test of rather first time in 16 years. I didn't think it was likely, given that I am 50 but I thought I should rule it out. thankfully it was negative but clearly signals the end of my fertile years. So two life changers at the same time(sorry if TMI)
So I have consoled myself with a bowl of frozen banana "ice cream" (in case I haven't said its a frozen banana, slightly defrosted, whizzed up with a stick blender to look like ice cream.. I added a spoonful of cashew butter. Sorry if I am repeating myself).
Just to say, AOT, I gave up wheat and sugar four months ago and my digestive system has never been better. No bloating, no GERD, good regularity ( ahem, really this post is tMI today:rotfl:) and a stone lost in weight. And I eat better than I ever did.
I am now going to take my misery out on the bathroomsI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hi everyone, been to Gateshead for work meetings, am on the train on the way back. Currently running half an hour late - I just want to get home now!
SM, I use the HFW recipe which is lovely but I was a bit too generous with the chilli flakes and ended up having to add a lot of crème fraiche to cool it down! Recipe is here http://nessasfamilykitchen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/hughs-pinto-bean-chilli.html
VJ's Mum, it sounds like an awful lot of upheaval all at once x
FTM, you sound busy as usual. Bad luck about the heron and hope Simon's hand heals. I once managed to cut my finger open with a rather blunt knife whilst cutting an onion and it bled so much more than a cut with a sharp knife.
MrsL, yay for toothiepegs!
AOT, sorry you have been feeling unwell x
Candlelight, pickled red cabbage sounds lush.
Car is booked in for some work, an MOT and 4 new tyres tomorrow, it seems never ending at the moment. We can afford it but it is hampering efforts to increase our house fund.
Hope you are all well and I haven't missed anyone x0 -

MLW..wow Nell is a busy girl..and we think she is just brilliant for taking the time to send the postcards. I really hope her choral performance is amazing.
The girls are doing fine now..we got absolutely drenched yesterday..but still had a great day at Belton..found lots of conkers and some acorns..saw the Stags with their huge antlers..took lots of pictures..
Simon's hand is healing well but he and Sam have now got the cold..hope it by-passes me..
Its back to school on Monday with Johnny Appleseed day..we are going to print off small info leaflets and take them and pop them through neighbours letterboxes and leave some apples..
Vj'smum..o hun you have allsorts going on and you have my sympathy..i used to love having a cuppa with all my girls and one by one they left home..it does leave a hole for a little while but you do get used to it and its even better when they come home.((((HUGS)))..And as for the monthly thing i drink Nettle tea with honey..really helps..
Kate..o i know how you feel about saving and things getting in the way..we all need new boots for the winter and Simon needs a new coat..and by the time we finished it all adds up..never stops..yes Simon won't live it down he cut his hand..he took knife away from me and said i would end up losing a finger..lmao..karma lol..
Right going to have a cuppa then early night with a good book..
love to you all
