VJsMum I'm following your sugar free diet with interest as I'm looking into it myself but have just gone meat, dairy and coffee so I want things to settle down a little first.
Truth be told I know I will struggle to leave it alone

Hello. Was it you who left the comment on the blog? I am so happy to get a comment. The blog is definitely a work in progress.
The wheat free sugar free (95% of the time, anyway) is very easy - the easiest diet I have done. But - giving up dairy meat and coffee as well! What will you eat. I have restricted dairy as it affects my sinuses (no more cappuccinos
) particularly as I have given up the steroid nasal spray. I don't eat loads of meat (good job you can't see the finished plate of bacon and eggs by my side
).
I am doing it because the menopause is approaching (may even be here having skipped a period. Yes I have done a test, thankfully negative :T) whilst I don't mind in principle, I don't want the weight gain that comes with it. As well as the other stuff I am reading about - I guess I should stay away from google and wait and see what happens.
Anyhow, onto nicer things. Welcome new people and thanks for the lunch suggestions. At the moment, I am cooking a part baked baguette every morning and filling that. He says it is working. I get a week off next week as he is off on an outward bound course he is doing for his GCSE.PE.
Right, this won't get the kitchen tidied.
Have a good friday.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello everyone..wow lovely to see new friends on here..will have to read all posts later to catch up with everyone..
Well its been an unusual week here..
Monday had our haircut..asked hairdresser if it would be ok to dye my hair back to blonde..yes of course she said..so i got my dye and thought i will wait a day or two..
Tuesday..had a mushroom omlette for lunch..girls didn't fancy it so they had scrambled eggs..tuesday evening and all through the night guess who had their head in a bucket and bum over the loo..yep it was me..god i thought i may just disappear in bucket or loo...spent 2 days getting over what ever it was..only thing i can think of is the mushrooms..
Thankfully Sam took charge whilst hubby was at work..he looked after girls and helped them finish our Whale topic..Fern sorted it all out into folders that she decorated with whale and shark cutouts..Sam took them to the allotment for a few hours whilst i napped..he also put the washing out. He went for a job interview as well..he didn't get it but i think the experience of the interview was good for him.
Ok so now i am up to Friday..still feeling a bit delicate but getting there..i decided to dye my hair ,try to make myself feel better..well i did it and half way through Sam and girls came home and he took one look and said " Wow mum..you got purple hair"...i went running to the mirror and looked..no its just the colour of the hair dye gel..don't worry i'll be blonde...famous last words. Washed it out my hair and Bingo i have a nice purple/grey/silver tint all over my hair mixed in with the blonde...good lord..i don't know what is worse..looking like a sodding buttercup or some purple haired 46yr old..honestly i look like i have been up ended and dipped in purple paint..will have to just let it grow out..i give up..
So apart from all that we are all ok now.
We have been painting pine cones all autumn colours and have made new wreaths and we are going acorn hunting next week..its been nice weather here though..not blazing sunshine but warm..i got all my laundry dry so thats good...its very misty here again..i love misty mornings..
got to go now and have a cuppa..will read all posts and catch up..
love

FTM I am sorry you were ill, it must have been the mushrooms don't you think?
You did make me laugh regarding the hair dye. I have had a few disasters over the years, and really you don't want to put your head outside do you? You might have to have it stripped professionally and then re-coloured because putting another colour on top just makes it worse.
I had my hair cut and blowed dried this morning and I have my colour ready to do the roots on Monday, more than overdue. I have been blonde for years now, various shades, but I was a brunette naturally until I started going grey.
It isn't the end of the world and I expect the children were somewhat surprised when they came home.
Look after yourself and please give the girls a hug
Much love

FTM you're now officially a colourful character petal!!! Poor you all that in one week seems very unfair doesn't it? Glad you're over your tum upset, it could have been one of the eggs you know, just one in a batch but you'll never know for sure. Your Sam is a very sound young man isn't he? he always steps up to the mark when it's needed and takes over and runs things, he is one in a million and you've every right to be immensely proud of the boy you've reared, would that there were many moire like him, this world needs then very much.
For what it's worth I decided that if nature meant me to go grey then I'd go gracefully and I now keep my hair short ( I did grow it a few years ago but despite all my efforts never succeeded in looking tidy) but my hairdresser got married a few days ago and my trim is booked in for the end of this month, a month later than it would have been and I look like a clump of pampas grass/dougal the dog. Hair is a problem isn't it?0 -
Good morning everyone, especially to the new people :-)
FTM - so sorry to hear you've been sick, it's just awful isn't it? Sorry but the hair dye thing did make me smile - I think we've all had similar experiences at some point... :-)
Well our plan of a quiet weekend didn't happen at all - but we really enjoyed it. Saturday morning we were just finishing up breakfast when some friends rang and offfered us their tickets for a rugby match that afternoon as they could no longer go. Really close match that was great to watch, then DH needed to do some measurements out in the boondocks so we headed out there for a nice walk on the beach before he needed to do his work....
Just when we were as far from the car as we could be the heavens opened, and despite sheltering under a surf lifesaving post, we got absolutely drenched. I figured enough was enough so we high-tailed it back to the car, drove back to civilisation and sat in the pub with a big plate of chips until he needed to work.
Sunday we built a compost bin (finally!) and as the weather was fantastic we spent a lazy afternoon lying round the garden in the sun watching the washing dry and reading books. Very relaxing indeed. Proabbly about 10 years behind everyone else I discovered music streaming, so we've been enjoying listening to lots of great tracks for free :-)
Got 4 soups made and 2 pots of pate. Rosmeary chicken, peppers and onions on the BBQ for tea and some cauli-cheese. Got some leftover cauli-cheese (flavoured only with parmesan rind, ssshhhh don't tell DH, he didn't notice ;-) ) - I'm thinking of thinning it with some chicken stock and turning it into lunchtime soup for tomorrow.
Cats always enjoy us lazing in the garden with them, we haven't had any 'gifts' lately - famous last words. I woke up in the night and had one sitting on me, one on my pillow and one tucked in behind my legs. Just as well I was comfy eh?!
Right, that's just about all our news, better get on and get some work done :-)

Hoglet good to see you, the weather here is not bad either. You sound as though you have had a busy weekend.
Flora does the same to me, she sleeps in the crook of my knees for a good part of the night now. I have to be careful though, because I think one night I turned over and kicked her off the bed, obviously not intentionally. She didn't seem any the worse for it.
Have a good week
Much love

Hi all.
It's been a busy week since I last managed to post. I've had trips all over the place for work and I'm trying to get lots done before we head off for a few weeks at the weekend.
The tomatoes in the greenhouse are finally ripening. Sadly I don't think we will benefit from them however at least my parents will be able to use them up while we are away. I still don't understand what took them so long? I did things from scratch and planted them from seed so next year I think I will buy the plants from the nursery and get a head start. Seems a bit like cheating though
FTM- I have 2 pear trees and not a single fruit - I'm so jealous (and impatient as I only planted them last spring)
I think the tummy bug has headed my way - I've been dreadfully out of sorts today. Thankfully I'm working from home so nobody sees me sprinting away from my laptop!
I just realised I was peckish so decided to stop for lunch and realised it's well after 1.30, no wonder I'm hungry! I've very quickly thrown together a casserole for hubby's dinner and I'm hoping to get n work finished sharpish to bake. We found out last night that some friends from Canada are staying with hubby's parents and are heading back home tomorrow. They've been here for 3 weeks, been trailed round various other family members but every time they mentioned seeing us my MIL told them we were away/out somewhere or not available. Not once did she contact hubby to say they were there and would like to see us. GRRRRRRR - I will never understand that woman!
Anyway we found out they were here, made contact and they are dropping by tonight. It's all very rushed though and I'm much happier when I can plan things in advance.
So - better get back to work if I have any chance of a reasonable finish.
FTM - I believe purple is the in shade for autumn - you're so in vogue!!0
