  • Evening all from chilly Minnesota. It has dipped below freezing here however we are warm and toasty in our lodge room with a nice cozy fire. I'm in full fall mode here (my favourite season) and so happy to see warm leaf colours and harvest food around.

I may be away from home but this is my chance to sit back and write lots of lists of things to do and projects for the coming months. I've been resisting any quilt shops although making my own quilt is definitely on my to do list - just maybe not this winter!

MrsLW - that is great news about the tooth. How time flies- it seems no time since Zebra arrived!

Kate - I'd be interested in your veggie chilli recipe if you have time to post.

FTM- how is the purple hue now??

Candlelight ,AOT and all our other friends:wave:

I'm off to send a raft of emails which I forgot about in the manic last few days when we were still home- Enjoy the nice autumn weather while it lasts everyone and I'll catch up again soon.
    NO FARMS = NO FOOD
  • Good afternoon all,

Well after a very grey start this morning, the sun is shining and it is very warm. I am just about to put second load of washing outside.

Nothing exciting planned for today or tomorrow, just the usual.

Yesterday was quite exciting because we ordered 2 new chairs and a sofa. We have to wait for 7 weeks for delivery but I don't mind that. I have saved really hard for this so really looking forward to it.

On Sunday we are going out for lunch. There will be 8 of us going to a carvery. We are taking DGD1 and her boyfriend, his Mum, Dad and brother and DD1 and ourselves. DGD1 lives with boyfriend in his parents home and they have been so good to her and we just want to show our appreciation. She is estranged from her Mum and Dad, although she hasn't done anything wrong except stick up for her Mum who has a mentally abusive husband. Himself and I have had to keep quiet for years but I have finally had my say and now DD doesn't speak to us either. Families, what would you do !!!!

Anyway they are lovely people and we are looking forward to Sunday.

SM your holiday sounds wonderful, real fire and freezing outside. As I said it is lovely here now but it has been a grey start for a couple of days now. Like you I do love Autumn . Will you be keeping up to date with the voting on the referendum today? I will say I am a bit fed up with it always being on the TV, and of course tomorrow there will be a post mortem on how the vote went.

Have a good weekend all and take care.

    Much love

  • Hi Candlelight - there is no escape from the referendum, even over the pond. We are currently having breakfast and the TV channels are full of it. I will be so glad when it is over and I'm hoping to be coming home to no change. Sadly though, no matter what the outcome, it has been a very nasty period of time recently and some relationships, both personal and business, will never recover from things which have happened. :(
    NO FARMS = NO FOOD
  • Hi SM,

I am sorry to hear that. I am sure many of us don't realise down here the full implications and can go only by the reports on TV.

    Enjoy your holiday.

  • SM real friends let you be YOU and have your own views, tastes and preferences. Those who really are true friends will be there for you when you go back whatever the result of the vote. Those who are critical, argumentative and resentful who won't accept you are entitled to your own views are not worth anguishing about petal. Be yourself and move forward with whatever is in place when you get back. Life isn't meant to be static and changes although they are sometimes difficult are usually dealt with and overcome in the fullness of time, Lyn xxx.
  • Thanks for asking after me Candlelight. I've had a bad couple of weeks with my digestive system after GP insisted I had a gastroscopy (camera down throat) to investigate iron deficiency. It seems to have aggravated an old problem and am now having to learn to adapt to different pattern of pain. The doc calls it 'managing the pain' - I just know am having to take great care of what I eat, how much I eat, when I eat and what I do. Am fed up and resolved NEVER to have another of those investigations.
All ok otherwise. Hope you enjoy your lunch on Sunday and the new furniture when it arrives.
Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.
  • Hi AOT, I am sorry to hear you haven't been well. I don't know about you, but I have found my digestive system is not the same now I am older.

There is so much I have to be careful about eating.

My Mum had to have 2 gastroscopies and they discovered she had had an ulcer but it had healed on it's own. She didn't like having it done at all, and to be honest I wouldn't like it either.

Look after yourself and I hope it sorts itself out, age doesn't come on it's own does it?

It is good to "see" you and we would all like you to visit more often, and we won't mind if you have a moan, because we all do from time to time.

    Much love

  • Actually I'm hoping that this cloud has a silver lining - I am quite a bit overweight so being forced to eat less MUST help me lose some of it.:rotfl:
I don't post very often as I don't seem to have much to say really - life is quite boring.

I live on a cliff top overlooking the river mouth and today its like living on an island as we are completely enclosed in fog.
Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.
  • Hi everyone,

    Hope you are all well

MLW - many congratulations to Zebra on his first tooth!

Well this week seems to have absolutely flown by - not that I'm complaining, always nice to be approaching the weekend.

Busy weekend with family stuff for us - my cousin's daughter's birthday dinner on Saturday and then her son's Ag Day on Sunday. Ag Days are a bit like school fetes but centre on agricultural things, the kids will all have work out on display and will be showing the farm animals they've raised. Lots of opportunities for tea and cake as well as some brick-a-brac bargains.

I really have left it a bit late and need to get cracking on her daughter's present. I always make a box up and cover it with pictures of things they like so I need to get my printer into action this morning! Cats are the thing for her so that's pretty easy.

Other than that a quiet one planned here - rugby tonight but I don't think our team will win :-( Oh, I don't think I mentioned, I entered a competition last weekend to win a rugby jersey from our team and I won! Fingers crossed it will arrive today so I can wear it tonight.

Have a lovely weekend everyone :-)
