Hello, all. Can I come and play? I've been lurking for a while but was just reading through about packed lunches and thought I should probably throw into the mix the things I like to take when I'm out on D of E expeditions and similar -
1) Separately wrapped cheese and crackers and a separate little pot of chutney (crackers stay crisp, cheese doesn't dry out and chutney makes everything better). I often have to fight off hoards of teenagers when this comes out as lunch.
2) Home made pizza with all the best toppings but not too much tomato sauce or they all wander around the lunchbox rather than staying on board the pizza.
3) It may sound odd, but cold sliced meat loaf or nut roast, again with some chutney and separate bread and butter make a great lunch and seem to go down well with kids and teenagers teenagers.
Just a few thoughts.

Hello NELLIE THE VIKING lovely to have you with us on the thread, two new friends in one day can only be good, welcome aboard, Lyn xxx.0

Thanks LYN and hello Nellie.
VJsMum I'm following your sugar free diet with interest as I'm looking into it myself but have just gone meat, dairy and coffee so I want things to settle down a little first.
Truth be told I know I will struggle to leave it alone

Afternoon folks - and hello PIC and Nellie the Viking, nice to have new friends!
Well, my last baby started full time school this week, and I feel so lost! Sometimes it's been nice to have peace to finish a job, but I hate eating lunch alone!Ds also started junior school, so big changes for us all - FTM I often envy you home schooling, but DH wasn't keen.
I've started my bramble vodka, and doing sloe gin next week (last year's sloes in the freezer), and have done a little decluttering/tidying job every day - the house needs to feel the benefit of me having a bit more time available!

Good afternoon all,
Welcome Nellie the Viking (love the name). We have made several new friends recently and that has to be good. I love hearing about the lives of each of you and I hope mine isn't too boring. I am retired now, but when I was at work I would have had lots of interesting stories to tell you.
Weather has been lovely here today. I started tidying the decking yesterday afternoon, whilst Himself did the front garden. I finished the decking today. Threw away all the old summer plants which had gone over, emptied pots and troughs and cleaned the garden furniture. Himself just has the back lawns to mow now, hopefully the weather will stay fine over the weekend.
DD has some more healing on the bone but it still isn't healed properly, it does seem never ending some times. I was hoping she would be able to drive soon just to give her a bit of freedom, but it isn't to be yet. The surgeon wants to see her in 3 months.
Off to the hairdresser tomorrow for a cut and blow dry, and not before time either. It is only 5 weeks but in that time it almost loses it's shape. Hey ho
I think another couple of weeks and the trees will start to shed their leaves and Autumn will definitely be here. We had a lovely Summer but it did seem to come to an abrupt end,I am not going to moan about it though because I love Autumn as well.
LYN I hope Docky is a little more comfy now, and he is going to miss his Daddy again isn't he. You and He will have to look after each other.
FTM hope you, Simon, Sam and the girls are all well, I do so look forward to your posts, they are so interesting.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Much love

Hi CANDLELIGHT glad DD has more bone healing but sad it isn't enough yet. Slog on eh? I'm looking like a very hairy bush as I'm well overdue for a haircut but my little hairdresser got married last week and is away until the last week of September so I'm booked in then, until then I look like Dougal from the Magic Roundabout!!! Docky does miss his Dadi but regards me as his willing (well mostly) slave in all things and will expect the same treatment as always, I know my place, it's LAST!!!
Lovely to have new people joining us on what I think is the friendliest place on the interweb, looking forward to hearing all thier news over the next few months, Lyn xxx.
Got the Zebra child a stocking present today in TK Maximus - the tiniest pair of Crocks shoes I've ever seen to wear on the beach next spring and summer, so very cute!!!0 -
LYN the Zebra child is a very lucky boy, he will look really cute.
You might have to explain to our new friends how he came by his name
Much love

His name is Ezra but his mums godson announced that he'd come to visit baby Zebra when he was first born and I'm afraid I found that so cute it's stuck, I don't think his mum minds but I'm afraid that's the way it is, Lyn xxx.0
