    Good evening everyone,

It has been a beautiful day today and had the WM on twice, all dried and ironed now. It doesn't promise to be good tomorrow so just as well really.

Have had a busy week all in all what with DDs medical appointments and my checkup with the Oncologist. All is well with me for the next 6 months hopefully. It was a bit emotional when DD was told the femur still isn't healing as it should, but we are over that now and we are waiting for the appointment for the CT scan. We are all determined she will get there, it is just taking longer than we had hoped.

FTM Himself and I are fine, thank you for asking. He was playing around with DDs car this morning because of course the battery is flat after all this time. Do you know Sara you should be so proud of yourself. Your girls will have such wonderful memories of their school days, learning but fun as well, and it sounds as though you really enjoy it as well.

I have bought lots of smallish jam jars with an A*azon voucher I had for my birthday, and as the fruit is ready I will be making jam and giving it as gifts at Christmas. We haven't any fruit in our garden but as I find it when it is cheap I will buy it. We have some really good friends who have an allotment and they usually bring me gooseberries and damsons, although last year didn't have any damsons at all. The other week I made Lyn's rhubarb breakfast jam and it is absolutely delicious, you should try it.

Lyn I am jealous of you and the Zebra child. I love babies and I love the smell of babies as well. Make the most of him because he will be grown up before you know it.

DGD and her boyfriend are coming to lunch tomorrow before taking her brother to the cinema. He and her boyfriend get on really well, DGS being 17 and boyfriend 20. I asked her what she thought they might like for lunch and she said something like a buffet again, so that is sorted.

It is only 2 weeks before we go on holiday to Norfolk, and really looking forward to it. DGD and boyfriend are house and Flora sitting. I have told Flora she must be a good girl, because she does sometimes sulk if we have been out all morning:) DGD loves cats so she will be in good hands.

Himself is still not sleeping well, and is a bit tetchy. Reading OS daily thread it seems he isn't alone in this, several people there seem to be having trouble as well. I hope the holiday will help him change his sleep pattern. The trouble is he is tired during the day, has a nap in the afternoon, and then of course doesn't sleep at night. A good thing we have 3 bedrooms, he just goes into another room.

Think that is all my news for now, love to everyone and have a good weekend.

Evening all. Wow, another weekend drawing to a close. Isn't it amazing how fast Saturday and Sunday go by compared to other days!

Well, the greenhouse is finally complete. The 8 tomato plants are in and seem settled so now I need to investigate exciting things like staging and what else I can grow in there this summer. My garden is looking very healthy although I have 2 very sick pulmonaria. I asked hubby to split and replant some lily of the valley which will need to make way for a new wall. He got a little carried away and split out a very prized pulmonaria which now looks like it will not recover. I'm more than a bit gutted as I've struggled to get it to grow however he thought he was doing the right thing so I'm not saying anything :(

This time last year we had some bad news regarding a close friend who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Well, she refused to take the diagnosis lying down and didn't see how the medical profession could give a timescale when her condition was very rare. The good news is that she is still with us and no worse health wise than a year ago so we are having a birthday bash for her at the end of the month. 85 years young! I'm planning my contributions now - I tend to be on dessert duty so we will have the usual summer fruit pavlova, a cheesecake (possibly butterscotch pecan) and 2 other offerings. The 2 others are yet to be determined so I need to get my thinking cap on. I have the birthday cake made and will feed it between now and the end of the month. I have to admit though that decorating isn't my strong point so I've cheated and bought the most beautiful edible sugar poppies from fleabay. I will confess they aren't mine though. When I get the time at some point I fully intend to find a one day course in basic cake decorating. One of these days......

The weather over the past few days has been very frustrating. Nice and warmish - about 18 but very sudden downpours every so often so hard to plan ahead. I swear I can see my grass growing every time the sun reappears!

FTM - I do so wish you were closer by and you could rummage in my wardrobe for bags, shoes etc for the wedding. I love being able to lend accessories or clothes to others - it justifies me having them to begin with!

I'm off to browse my many recipe books and laminated magazine recipes to see what other desserts I cam find for the party. I'd like something unusual - I'd also like something linked to the forces as my friends husband (ex RAF) informed me that the party falls on armed forces day so I'm wondering what I can do to commemorate that. I'm also in charge of decorating so I need to get my thinking cap on.

I do love a challenge - keeps my mind agile :)

p.s Hoglet - the kinesiology tape seems to be doing something when I need it to. I have no idea how or if it is in my kind however I'm not complaining!

    Morning everybody :-)

Monday morning again - how does it come around so quickly?! After 2 x 4 day weeks I can't say I'm looking forward to a 5 day one... On the other hand I don't want to wish my life away, so onwards and upwards...

Scottishminnie - I'm glad the tape is working for you. I have the same thoughts towards it, I have no idea if it actually is working or it's my mind but either way I'm not complaining! Butterscotch pecan cheesecake has got my mouth watering..... :-)

Candlelight - I hope you have a wonderful time in Norfolk when your holiday comes round. And I know what you mean about cats sulking - ours were very unhappy about us being out on Saturday night and told us off at 5.30am on Sunday morning.....

We had a busy weekend - England v All Blacks match on Saturday night, which wasn't the most interesting game I've ever seen but it's always a pleasure to be at an international match in a packed stadium... Getting home was a nightmare tho - the free trains were running very slowly, to the extent that we gave up and walked the 4km back into the city centre. We had wanted to try out a new burger place which sells good quality and not too huge burgers at a very reasonable price, but every other man and his dog had the same idea and we couldn't even get in the place. Anyway, we did manage to get some food somewhere else nearby and caught the second to last train home... Got back at 1 am to find someone nearby playing music at concert-level volume. How no one else in the vacinity had laid a complaint I don't know as it was unbelievably loud. Anyway, the council noise control people said they'd be out within an hour. What time they appeared and what happened when they did so I don't know, but when the cats decided that a late night needed rewarding with an early wake up call, I could still hear the music going. It amazes me how inconsiderate some people are. Anyway, enough moaning.

Having treated myself to a new cookbook with a voucher I'd received I really did need to replenish my spice cupboard. And I've now found the absolute cheapest place selling a huge range of spices, I'm so pleased. And they're the first place in NZ I've found selling Indian lime pickle - it made my day! I know I should make my own but the price of limes here is scary. Anyway, the cupboards are re-stocked and there are now 2 different chicken curries in the freezer, one passanda and one vindail, which I'd never made before (or heard of) but it was very easy and tastes divine. Nice to have something different batch cooked as my version of generic chicken curry was getting a bit repetitive.

Running went very badly this weekend - early on into my planned long run I was a getting very odd pain in my 'good' knee, so I decided to cut my run right down and just do a short loop, which I still had to walk most of. Really frustrating, but I will keep going. I keep telling myself that at least I did something and got outdoors which is better than nothing. Hopefully Tuesday will be better.

Right - work time for me - I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend :-)

Morning everyone, I guess we're all that bit busier as the weather has finally allowed us some outside time and there are many, many jobs waiting to be done. The garden here and the allotment are growing on apace and everything is thriving, the peas in the polytunnel have finished thier first cropping and have started to flower again with many pods set, also the climbing french beans are full of flower in there and pulling in masses of bees which is lovely. He Who Knows reckons we have new potatoes almost ready to lift on the lottie and my redcurrant bushes are loaded with rapidly swelling fruit, it's going to be a good harvest if things go on thjis way.

Hope you are all keeping well and happy, He Who Knows has gone off to play with the carp in the local lake and I've finished the house and washing is out on the line drying. I've actually got the fan going in here and the curtains pulled across open windown so it's comfortable but outside is hot and humid and it's only just 10 O Clock. Midday might be a bit too warm for comfort. I'm making lighter food these days, we just aren't getting as hungry in the heat so salad for lunch and then courgette and lemon risotto for supper (homegrown courgettes) when it's cooled off a little this evening.

Hope you all have a good day, Lyn xxx.

Should have said this morning my friends DD was safely delivered on Monday morning of a beautiful little boy weighing over 9lbs and he's called Milo Theodore, and both he and mum are doing very well and back at hoime being adored by his big sister xxx.
  • Hello all,

I think you are right Lyn we are all probably busy in the garden. We have been because we are going away on the 21st and everything seems to have grown 2ft with the rain and the sun. So garden nice and tidy now, clothes we are taking put aside cupboards and freezer stocked for when DGD and boyfriend come to house and Flora sit.

I am just making a small amount of apricot jam, it is a bit warm to be doing this but they were a bargain so couldn't not buy them (Spanish) I made strawberry jam at the weekend and it was a lovely colour.

FTM when is the wedding? Your dress sounds gorgeous, but it is a pity about the seating arrangements, despite this I am sure everyone will have a wonderful time.

Hoglet you sound as though you have been really busy. I think you are right to take it steady regarding the knee, funny thing knees:)

2 grandchildren came for their tea yesterday straight from school, and I told them I will give them money instead of bringing them something back from holiday. The money is of more use to them than by something from the seaside.

AOT are you back from Turkey, hope you have had a good time?

Have a good weekend everyone and stay well

    Much love

    Hi everyone,

Monday again! Time is going crazy fast.

Candlelight - your apricot jam sounds delicious. I make lots of jams but for some reason I never make apricot - I must remember when the season comes around.

Well we had a busy weekend - DH had some drama reffing kids rugby on Saturday - had to stop the match early as one of the players was badly hurt and had to get an ambulance. Poor thing, it was pretty grim. We had a call later on to say he was still in hospital but not as badly hurt as first thought so that was very good to hear. We walked up to a rugby club about a mile and a half away to watch their prems match, and then back home in time for the ABs England match. Lots of rugby for us this weekend!

Sunday I managed to coax the knee around a long run (5.5 miles) but the Achilles are complaining now. If it's not one thing it's another! Concentrating on the positives that the weird pain from last time has gone and hoping that the Achilles thing is just a complaint that I hadn't been out during the week. I run out into the country at the weekend and try to mix up the route a little bit. This week that led to discovering a sign to a farm gate shop not too far away so we'll check that out sometime soon. The prospect of adding another 3 miles to the run to go and check it out won over my curiosity so maybe we'll go see the place this coming weekend.

2 new curries cooked up and in the freezer - 4 portions of each. A dopiaza and a rogan josh so that will keep DH happy for a week or 2. Also got 5 portions of bacon and corn chowder frozen so that's a good few lunches sorted, and a good dent made into the excess of potatoes and onions that never seems to decrease.

Looks like our craft club will be meeting this coming Sunday, so need to get my thinking cap on for some baking to take. I might make macarons, just because I've never tried to make them before and I do like a challenge. And I'll counter that by doing an easy savoury item, maybe a cold friatta or something similar.

Right, work time. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekends.

    Hello all..hope everyone is well..

Its been odd here at ft mansions..quiet and yet quietly frantic at same time. I have finally got the girls a lovely navy cardigan to go with dresses for the wedding..we found some lovely alice bands with flowers and feathers on in navy blue..so i have changed my accessories to navy blue..a nice lovely hat and blue shoes..plus i treated myself to some lovely vintage style gloves..my hat matches the colour of girls headbands exactly..i bought them new sandals and some lovely white frilly socks..i did add a lovely little bow to them on the ankle..
Simon has had final suit fitting and gorgeous he looks in it too..good job he is already married..:)..Samuel has got his suit pressed and a new navy tie to match me and his sisters in colour..i am going to cut his hair tomorrow..
Well the allotment is doing its job..we have had some new potatoes and lettuces..very tasty..not sure if its coz they are homegrown or the fact i didn't pay supermarket prices for them..
The tomatoes are growing and have fruit on them..am looking forward to the yellow tomatoes..our cucumbers are thriving too..the one with the mini-cucumbers on is loaded with them..very tempting to just pick and eat lol...
The strawberries are growing brilliantly..my raspberries are all ripening up,the little trees we put in last year have fruit on them too...and the pear tree has lost lots of the small ones..now i have 20 medium size ones growing...the swedes are in..and Sam has a new friend at the allotments..a little old lady has befriended him..she gave him 2 butternut-squash plants and beans..she also invited him to her shed for a cold drink..bless him..in return he has weeded her pathway and cut her grass for her..think she is lonely..but Sam likes her and has been helping her out..he took her some eggs last week too...we saw some of the chaps from up there too..they all like Sam and praised him for working hard..am so proud of him.
We had a lovely day yesterday..the girls made Father's Day cards and i made him Peppermint Patties..he also received a Hose reel and a new hosepipe from me..plus some choclates and books from all other girls and Sam..i made Sunday lunch and he relaxed..bless him..

I did watch the rugby on Saturday..thought NZ were the better team..and i totally missed the streaker..
My dd Fionna has reduced her hours at work and is now budgetting and meal planning away..we have decided to go to Aldi to shop together one morning a week..lists at the ready and sticking to it...fed up with supermarket prices going up and up..this way we can encourage each other and also split prices on big packs of meat..looking forward to it.

Well it is the Wedding on Saturday...the dress is here, suits here, flowers here,Andrea is having her hair and make-up done at her house then coming here to chill out for a few hours before the Registry office..no doubt our house will be frantic and chaotic..i am taking supplies of wet wipes, water, tictacs and a bucket just in case...they won't fit in my small clutch bag so my Mummy bag is back out of retirement for one day....i have got batteries for camera and camcorder..we are making our own confetti and i am putting in little pouches for us..hoping the weather is good for us all..
Right sam is back with fresh lettuce and potatoes..ooh and radishes..
    love to you all
