FTM DD1 has finally found time to download the photos from our Paris trip, it's been a manically busy half tern and she's really needed an extra 12 hours iun every day to get all the things done that she's needed to do. She'll send them to you in several e.mails with a bit of blurb so the girls know what it is they're looking at. My favourite is the man selling bunches of Lilac, there were flower sellers all over the city with boxes of bunches of lilac and I think they'll love the stainless steel T.Rex that was on the roof of the boat trip terminal on the Seine also the Irisbus and Les Fougeres (Ferns) at the botanical gardens, couldn't do one name without the other could we??? Lyn xxx.
DDs having a bit of a problem getting the e.mail to send, if she can't make it happen we've managed to download the pictures here and will try to send them tomorrow xxx.0 -
Morning everyone,
Lovely to read all your news, cheers up a bleak dark morning. Raining here at the moment although it did at least mean the night was warm. Only had the panel heater on for a few hours last night and it was still warm when I got up this morning.
Quite a quiet weekend here - started out with a run on Saturday morning but the knee which has been holding up decided to get quite painful so had to walk the last mile or so home. Struggled to get my energy up again after that so I think I need to re-assess what I'm eating. Ended up with 2 very early nights but I must have needed them as I slept for a good 9 or so hours each night. I obviously need to take better care of myself.
Had our monthly craft club meeting, and it was at our place yesterday. Great to see everyone and catch up, only got a few threads of cross stitch done, I'm normally far to busy chatting to really make inroads during craft club, but that's half the fun isn't it. Lots of baking was made and shared, and DH joined us (I felt mean kicking him out so suggested he stayed) and he made a very delicious chocolate mousse for us to share.
Cats are all behaving themselves at the moment, wonder how long that will last?!
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Hoglet x0 -
Good morning all..well its wet here..i was planning on putting my laundry out..but the rain put paid to that..nevermind.
MLW..thank you for the pics..we got some lovely pictures thank you..the one of the Eiffel tower is amazing..they are gorgeous..the Carousel got the most ooh's and ahh's..its so beautiful..I have replied to Nell thanking her for them and the websites she recommends for History.O how sweet that Zebra is a Library member..i got the girls when they were 6 months old..so Zebra beat them to it..am hoping your all ok and not getting wet.
The girls are looking forward to seeing the pics of the Irisbus and The Fougeres..and i love Lilacs,,that man would be my first port of call for fresh flowers..
Candlelight..so glad your girl is getting there..you are wonderful to help out so much..i know its what mums do..but your brilliant..
Fern is doing well on the skates and Iris is too..they have helmets, elbow and knee pads..am thinking of tushy cushions too lol..
Hoglet..ouch hope your knee is ok..how is your OH's foot now?
Sounds like your Craft Club is brilliant and Choclate Mousse too..can't get better than that.
Well i have been busy..i have sorted clothes and donated 3 big bags to charity shop..
I made cakes with girls ..Lemon Cakes and cookies..yummy.
Andrea is popping up today to arrange final seating plans for the wedding..it seems there is no room on top table for me and the girls..her fiance has got 2 best men and partners, parents, sister,Simon and no room left.I should be annoyed but to be honest i am not bothered..they wanted to seat the little ones with people they don't know and thought they would be ok as long as they could see me...obviously not parents yet lol..so i offered to sit elsewhere with the girls..Simon is not happy..he can't understand why Fiance has to have 2 best men..my other girls are not amused at all..he has been getting some stick..but i truly don't care..it's their day and i don't want this kerfuffle to spoil it..will have a chat with them about it later.
Well seeing as the weather has rained off my plans of allotment work and gardening..it has been decided we will play all morning and the watch the Rugby i recorded..Fern is as fanatical as i am..Iris wants to colour..
Right i am going to have a coffee and play Draughts and Monopoly..
take care all

Hello all!
FTM, sounds busy at yours as usual.
Candlelight, glad to hear your daughter is improving all the time and AOT, good to hear that the B12 is doing its thing.
Am full of cold at the moment - my colleague had a stinking cold beginning of last week and unfortunately I have caught it and now passed it on to OH. Most unusual as I rarely get a proper cold, usually have the sniffles for 24 hours then it's gone and OH is almost never ill.
Over the bank holiday too - our friends were down from Lincoln over the weekend and I was too poorly to meet up with them. It was before OH came down with it so I dropped him off and picked him up; they came out to see me when I collected him and so at least they know I really was ill; I had virtually lost my voice!
On the mend now though - in time to go back to work
Been very busy at work, hasn't left me a lot of time for much of anything. Got a course next weekend (both days) so not much rest then either but it is good for my personal development (I am funding it but it will help me in my job too).
Hope you are all well x0 -
Morning everyone :-)
FTM - the knee seems to be much better thank you- I have it taped in place with kinesiology tape which is an absolute wonder invention if you ask me.... Proof will be tonight when I am going for another run. DH's foot comes and goes, he said it was painful last night but sometimes I think it's better if he's got something else to think about - once his mind is taken off it it seems to be much better. He is slowly beginning to agree that he really does have to stretch properly and look after himself, but it's not something that comes naturally to him. We both had the foam roller out at the weekend - honestly we look like such a pair with our tapes, joint supports, foam rollers etc! Anything to keep active. Lots of rugby on here at the moment - last week we went to watch u20 Samoa play our local ITM cup team u20 side (national rugby competition, one level below Super rugby), and tonight the local u20s are playing another match so we'll be watching that as well, both matches are free entry. Next Monday (public holiday here) the Junior World Cup starts and we're watching Australia v Argentina, Fiji v Wales and England v Italy - total ticket price is about 8 pounds for the whole day. Can't wait!
Well it was a very chilly 3 degrees last night...fingers crossed the lime tree survived! Brrrrrrrr. I had to scrape the car this morning, and I've still got my thermals on now. A beautiful clear sky tho, we could see the band of the Milky Way last night, very common to be able to see that in the countryside here but with us being in the city we don't see it too often.
Right, work time I think. Got a potato and leek soup made up last night so that will be nice and warming to have for my lunch.

Afternoon all, not such a nice day here, cooler and overcast but at least not wet!!! I seem to be dropping off for a doze most afternoons after very early starts which I think are just light levels happening earlier along with enthusiastic birdies yelling thier little heads off, or possibly it's just getting older ( I hope not though!). Spoke to DD2 today and Zebra is fully fit and well again, just in time to have his last series of shots on Thursday poor baba. Never mind, she's coming up this weekend to visit a friend and they are coming to lunch with us on Sunday so I can have a cuddle fix which will make me very happy indeed. DD1 still in Vienna which she is enjoying but has been caught in massive thunderstorms both afternoons and drenched to the skin so I guess spring in Vienna is best tackled with an umberella or at least enough dry clothes to change into at the hotel. They come back tomorrow and He Who Knows is off to visit her and do her garden for a few days at then end of the week. We're going to treat ourselves to supper at the pub this evening, they have a flame grill and I can get a nice grilled chicken breast which I'm really looking forward to. Hope all is well with everyone Lyn xxx.0

Wow - everyone is so busy on this thread. Never a moment wasted I think!
MrsLW - sounds like Zebra is coming along in leaps and bounds. It's amazing how much they change in such a short space of time.
Hoglet - I'm off to have a look at kinesiology tape. I have a dodgy left knee which troubles me from time to time and I tend to try to get through the pain. Probably not the most sensible thing to do but I refuse to give up things like body attack and step just because my knee hurts so think the tape may be worth investigating.
FTM - I'm with Simon and the girls on the top table thing however I hope the day goes well, I guess the meal is only a very small part of it.
I have a few days off so I've just returned from Costco. I seem to have shopped for Britain. I have lots of boring things like fabric conditioner and cereals but also a huge bag of limes (planning to make lime and coconut sponge at the weekend) and a tub of mixed nuts as they seem to be in short supply at the supermarkets. I so wanted to pick up something in the garden furniture bit however I kept walking (mainly because I knew how full the car was going to be anyway!).
The greenhouse base has been built and the frame bolted down so the next thing is the glass to go in. I have to be patient though - I've learnt with my hubby over the years to only ask twice for something as my chances of help diminish the more I mention something. I'm very keen to get going with my greenhouse though so I'm finding it difficult!
It was a little damp this morning which was disappointing however the silver lining to that was that the hundreds of starlings must have gone elsewhere for breakfast. I'm living in hope they have left me permanently
Kate - hope the cold goes away soon. Nothing worse than a rotten cold:(0 -
Hi everyone
Scottish Minnie - Good luck with your search - I hope you find something useful for you. I have a wayward knee cap which is overly mobile, and I found holding it in place with the tape very beneficial. I also suffer from shin splints and I have found that taping them means I am now pain free without medication. I have a 5 km run planned tonight, must be conscious to pace myself as it was so cold when I went out on Tuesday evening I went flying down the road and was knackered after about 800 metres!
It was the chicks at the flicks again last night - movie was Maleficent which I wasn't expecting to really be my thing but I absolutely loved it. Goody bag was a bit lighter than last month but did include a full sized face cleanser, 3 magazines, pretzels and some peanut m&ms. Last month's also had coffee, biscuits and more chocolate... The dessert was doris plum and creme fraiche ice cream - unusual but really delicious.
Last day in work before a 4 day weekend so I'd better get on with something...

Morning everyone, He Who Knows is back from visiting DD1 and DD2 and Hubs and the Zebra child are up here for the weekend, not staying with us but with a schoolfriend and they are coming for lunch tomorrow, yayyy!!!
It's grey here again today but not wet and the newsreaders on the TV have been talking about the summer solstice being not far off, oh yeah??? are we going to actually GET a summer this year or will it just be this eternal greyness until the autumn starts?
The fruit in the garden is looking good this year, particularly the redcurrants which are laden and the thornless blackberries are so covered with flowers it looks like it might be a bumper harvest, we'll see. Looks like a massive amount of apples set on the trees at the front and we've even some huge damsons on the little tree we thought had died last year, going to be a busy jam season!!!
FTM just had a text from DD1 as I'm typing and a friend of hers is currently in Hong Kong and will send her a postcard for the tots, he's travelling this summer too and is going to send from Sydney,Easter Island, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Galapagos, La Paz, Lima and New York so He'll do the same from these places and DD will forward the cards on to you. She's got contacts in Indonesia and Arizona and Spain too, watch for the postman over the summer!!!
Have a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all - waiting for a phone call from a friend, so have time to post :T
The mad marking episode has finished thank goodness. Therefore work has calmed down somewhat. This week being half term, we would usually have gone away, but decided that a stay cation was more in order. Both kids have exams in the next two weeks, dS has GCSE RE and physics this week and chemistry and biology the week after, DD starts her A levels on Monday. Mummy is desperately trying to get them both to revise - virtually having to drag DS to some RE revision at school on Wednesday. So we have used the week to do some fairly unsexy chores - clearing guttering and drains, weeding the drive, clearing out and cleaning the conservatory - but some nicer things including walks in the hills, visiting a national trust and lunch out.
OH and DS have gone out for the day today, hopefully DS will do some revision on the train.
Some of you will have seen on another thread that I have now spoken to DD about her Aspergers, we watched a film with an Autistic boy in (curious incident - NT live), and she said "well that was a bit close to home". Turns out she's known for years, wish she'd told us  yesterday, I asked my friend if she had known as she has been both a children's nurse and a classroom assistant, helping autistic children. She admitted that she did (she got quite emotional), but didn't see the point of saying as V was managing it so well. I don't blame her really, it must have been an awkward situation to find herself in. It's better that we came to it naturally. After the A levels we are going to get V a diagnosis, as I think it will help to smooth the transition to university - we will pay for a private one if necessary I.e if the timescales are too slow.
Funny about wayward knee caps, since my boat accident at Easter, my knee has not been right. I am carrying on, but have an appointment with the drs on Monday as I think it should have been improving by now. If anything it is getting worse, so I think an x ray is now in order. I have out it off, not wanting to waste time or NHS resources, but I don't want to set myself up for bother in the future, if there's something I should or shouldn't be doing.
Off to the chazzer this morning with my Wally trolley full of stuff to donate. Will try to resist purchasing. I also have some bags of coins to cash up and put in the building society. It's amazing how it adds up. I save 20ps and under, and over the years have probably saved over £500 in my holiday fund. With other savings (I always save the money off stuff £5 aldi etc in there) I now have £1700. I really want to take DD to New York, and probably do have enough now. Just need to find a time. (DS tends to go on smaller trips with OH, so he gets his share- he doesn't want to go back to New York).
Then, very soon, DS and I are off to Glastonbury again. Getting stuff together for it now. I bought us some cheap chairs this week, as I could see how difficult it would be to sit down if the weather is bad and I am too bliddy old to spend 12 hours a day standing in a muddy field. :rotfl: Mrs LW, isn't your DD and zebra going? We stay in a family field, so may be tent neighbours - hope DS snoring won't wake the baby :rotfl:, I will have my ear plugs in. Last year I slept better than I had done for months. In fact the bliddy Rolling Stones woke me up :rotfl:
Right, better get out of me jimjams. This won't get the baby a new bonnet as me mother used to say.
Have a great weekend allI wanna be in the room where it happens0
