    Hi everyone :-)

FTM - I really hope the wedding was wonderful :-)

Well we had a busy weekend - usual chores and an absolute ton of batch cooking. Freezer now stocked up with sausage and leek casseroles, Thai chicken curry, black dahl, lots and lots of portions of stock, also lots of stripped chicken for free pie, probably next weekend.

Also had craft club yesterday, for which I did ham and corn crustless quiche and, after 4 attempts, I got the macarons perfected. They were hard work but finally got them cracked. I did coconut and pineapple and they went down well, phew! Even got a little bit of crafting done....

Weather wasn't great for much of the weekend but did at least get some washing dry on the line.

No running - I just ran out of time really, but I will really try and get out on Tuesday after work as I'm feeling very lazy now.

Hope you all enjoy the last of your weekends

Hello all..Thank you for the Birthday wishes..its a beautiful day..

    Well the wedding went without a hitch..perfect day,beautiful bride,good families and friends..perfect..

The day started well..annie arrived and had lunch in full make up and hair done with little white roses literally stuck in with a thousand bobby pins..got the girls all ready and then myself..Annies friends arrived to help her dress..it was so lovely to see tham all again..so grown up and looked amazing..it seemed we had all co-ordinated with colours without knowing it..we all had some form of navy blue..

Had lots of photos taken with her little sisters and dad..then Sam..you don't realize how grown up they are til they are all together..wonderful.

Simon look so handsome in his suit..we left them at 2.30 ish..Annie told me after that she had a lovely chat with her dad..and how she is sorry she is no longer a Tudor but loves Matt with all her heart..she will always be a Tudor forever and always bless her.

The ceremony itself was very simple and quick..but lovely..then it was all off to the reception..the girls were brilliant and didn't throw up on way there..the food was gorgeous and the Wedding cake was delicious..the Best Men speeches were funny and emotional..not a dry eye..then my new SIL gave a speech..it was a tribute to Andrea..how she has changed his life for the better and that his future is with her and how its lovely to have a big family and now the families are blended its even better..we also got thanked tongue in cheek for making her the way she is..she is a tormentor, hilariously funny and a beautiful soul and Matt wants to know how we managed to live with her lol..she is funny..and torments him something wicked..the boy has a lot to learn about patience lol..he is a good man and is so devoted to her..i am so happy for the both of them..

Then it was announced to the room that it was our Wedding Anniversary on that day..a huge bottle of champers and flowers were handed to us and we got a round of applause...a surprise as we wanted to keep it quiet as it was Annie and Matts day...

Then we all partied..dancing and singing..girls were dancing with everyone..my other SIL got on the karaoke..bless him..he hit the high notes badly but he hit them ...we all danced til gone half 11...then i think it all caught up with the little ones and they virtually collapsed..we got home around midnight..both littlies fast asleep in car..didn't wake up when we put them to bed..infact they didn't wake up til 9 the next day...

Yesterday i was absolutely shattered..we had a lunch and that was it..went to bed early...got up a bit later this morning..but its my birthday so we are relaxing today..i have got lots of cards and choclates..Sam bought me some beautiful huge fake flowers for my living room..big green daisies and white one..plus 2 red ones for my bedroom..i have some money too...feel very lucky today...
I will be back on later...going to have a cuppa now and put some laundry out...
    love

Happy birthday FTM :-) have a wonderful rest-of birthday

I ended up with a busy evening - don't normally do batch cooking during the week but DH was out at his referees meeting so had a few hours to kill. The cats played up no end - they hate it when something's different and they obviously didn't like just me coming home. The boys fought all over the dining chairs and the girl ran up and down the stairs and all round upstairs continually, making her 'i've caught something' noise. I kept going up to investigate but didn't find any gifts...

Anyway, I got 4 portions of soup for lunches made and put away, and also used up the egg yolks left over from the failed macaron attempts into 4 jars of lemon curd. It's delicious, even if it was my fast day and I shouldn't have been tasting it.. :-)

My cousin has invited us round for dinner tonight, so we both have the Thai chicken curry I'd made for dinner for lunch today. That's a big treat as we normally have just a soup, but I thought better of freezing it after it had been in the fridge for a couple of days. Something nice to look forward to at lunchtime anyway.

  • Hello all,

Well I am back from sunny and peaceful Norfolk. We had a lovely week, it rained on Friday afternoon and on the way home yesterday, but otherwise we were very lucky. It is lovely to feel the stillness of the countryside. Living in a big city we have emergency vehicles rushing past, big trucks going about their business and non stop cars. It is lovely to get away from the hustle and bustle.

We have had a certain amount of sulking from Flora because she has fallen in love with DGDs boyfriend. She has been so well looked after by both of them, but she is definitely "in love". I think they both enjoyed themselves and the house was spotless, with their bed stripped and washed, fresh bread and salad stuff bought. I am so proud of them they are lovely young people.

Sara the wedding sounds wonderful, you must be so proud of your family. I am glad everything went according to plan, and my goodness the girls must have been tired at the end of the day with all the excitement and dancing and chatting.

Lyn I thought of the Zebra child when they showed Glastonbury on the news. I am pleased he is enjoying his first experience and I know VJs Mum was going again as well. Hope it isn't too muddy.

Hoglett I want to do some batch cooking as well this week. It all helps doesn't it when there are days when you are too busy, or some days can't be bothered.

Cheapskate it sounds as though the garden is coming along nicely, let's hope the good weather continues.

Good news on DD, she went for a CT scan last Sunday, had an emergency appointment with the Consultant on Thursday, and the scan shows some healing to the bone, THANK GOODNESS!!!. He wants to see her in 2 months, and in the meantime she can go back to having some light physio.

As you might imagine lots of washing being done here, but at least it is drying outside.

    Take care everyone

    Much love

Welcome home CANDLELIGHT that's wonderful news about your DD and let's hope that the healing process is well and truly under way for her now. So very much better than having to plate it up and do bone grafts. I wish her a speedy recovery from now on and a very good report from the consultant in 2 months time.

I'm glad you had a nice relaxing time on holiday too and that flora was so well looked after by your DGD and boyfriend, they sound like a really considerate and good pair of youngsters, thank goodness there are some like them to see us all through the future, brilliant stuff!!!

The Zebra child has apparently thoroughly enjoyed his first Glastonbury experience and has been promoted to facing outwards in the sling DD carries him in which he absolutely loves as he can see what's happening and talk to more people that way!!!

    Morning everyone :-)

Candlelight - that's such good news about your DD :-) I'm so glad you had a nice relaxing holiday too. Sounds like Flora had a wonderful time!

A busy domestic weekend for us here, DH had physio early on Saturday so we were up and about early. Physio was helpful and suggested some insoles which DH says are making a difference already. He is going back to see them for some treatment tonight as Saturday was just an assessment. Afterwards we headed off to the mall as there was a sale on a new pan I've been waiting to buy for a long time... DH was buying me it for our up coming wedding anniversary (my choice I should add, I really do love new pans!) and he also treated me to a new fancy baking tray and a macaron kit which has a silicon mat with the macaron circles printed with raised lines, to stop them spreading. I felt very spoilt :-) Anyway I got chatting to the lady in the shop and showed her some pictures of things I've created and she was very complimentary - she was so lovely she really made my day.

Home afterwards for exciting things like washing, vacuuming and a bit of clearing up the garden after recent storms. Got some washing dry on the line but weather was very changeable this weekend. DH cut the lawn and cleared away the fallen guavas and it looks much better. A lovely skype call later on in the day with an old friend and then a rare trip to the cinema to see a NZ made film. It was excellent, but would have been just as good if we'd rented it from the DVD shop in a couple of months. The cinema is just too expensive.

Batch cooking this weekend included the sauce for prawn masala curry which I'll add the prawns to when it's heated up to eat, and last night's free pie will do us both for lunch tomorrow as well. I got lots of pie filling left over for the freezer which will probably do another 4 portions too. Some elderly cauliflower and a quantity of yams went into a curry on Saturday night which we had with homemade chapatis, and there's a portion of that curry in the freezer too. I think we could live off freezer meals for a week or 2 at the moment so instead of having 1 or 2 a week I think we're going to have to make an effort to really get through them. Nice to be this position tho, having a well stocked freezer, it certainly helps the budget.

Right, better do some work :-)
