Thanks candlelight, I do intend to go a bit horticultural with the veranda. probably with edible things such as herbs and salads. Mind you I've never been greenfingered so will be experimental. :rotfl::rotfl:
Well done to your DD VJsmum. You must be so proud.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Little Miss VJsMUM, what an achievement, she's right to be as happy as she is, life is for LIVING not for worrying about. I wish her everything in life that she wishes for herself!!!
FTM hope you had a really lovely day yesterday and that Heather and her new husband had the day they wanted and are now very happy.
I got an Oma's Day Card from my Zebra baby, how sweet is that??? Lyn xxx.0 -
Good morning everyone..firstly Happy Mothers day to you all..
VJ's mum..am so excited for you girl..and yes i had something huge in my eye yesterday made me cry for ages..well done .
Well ladies yesterday was great..the sun was shining,Heather looked amazing and it was a good day.
It seems that its only the MIL that has a problem with me..i met the rest of the family and wow they were so lovely..totally different to her..it made the day that much better..we had champagne flowing..lots of happy people wonderful..
They had travelled up from Essex and Somerset for the day..and stayed overnight last night..i just can't believe how different they were to her..it was quite amusing at one point though..the little one fell asleep on my knee and i was chatting to the grandad of them all and she came and tried to take her from me ..her dad told her to go away and leave us alone..i felt abit uncomfortable but she did and he said she thinks they are her babies..and he said she was a control freak..i just smiled and didn't say anything but changed the subject lol...her brother was also lovely too..he said she is a bit possessive of her son..which i know but it was nice to hear from someone else..
Anyway the food was great and the champagne and wine was flowing freely so a lot of tipsy people but happy..my son-in-law made a wonderful speech..Simon did one too but it was short and too the pont bless him he was nervous..the best mans speech was funny..he is actually my girls oldest friend..they have been friends since nursery and he paid tribute to the fact that she is his best friend and couldn't be happier for her and Sam..it was lovely..
I was given a huge bouquet of flowers as was the MIL..we gave them some money for their honeymoon and i gave heather a necklace..from me to her..
The hotel was absolutely fantastic and the staff were amazing..couldn't ask for nicer people..
So all in all a great day..thank you all for your moral support..
MLW..its gorgeous to get a card from your grandbabies on Mothers Day..i look forward to them the most...i got lovely flowers and choclates today plus my handbag and Samuel bought me the most exquisite jewellery box..its beautiful and made me cry..i always wanted a jewellery box and just never got around to it..anyway this one is a vintage style with a lock and when it opens there is a ballerina that twirls and plays a tune..its wonderful...going to put my bits in it later..
Got beef in the slow cooker for later and am being made a coffee as we speak..
AOT,Candlelight,Cheapskate,MummyMARIA..hey ladies thank you so much for your words of support..it means alot to me..
AOT ..you lucky thing you ..a verandah wow..wish i had one i would fill it with flowers and pot plants and if it was big enough a chair to sit and watch the world go by..
Right got to go ladies..
love you all

Sara, I'm so glad it all was lovely for you yesterday, that's the best news and I'm so pleased the rest of your SILs family were so nice and friendly and that Grandad told his daughter to leave the baby with you, seems they have her measure pet, pleased for you to see that and know it's just her. That will make dealing with her easier in the years to come. Have yourself a lovely family Mothers Day and enjoy every second of it, have a relax after the excitement of yesterday.
Happy Mothers Day to everyone else too, DD1 has been given a pom pom and a cuddle from Pushkin, I guess it doesn't matter who your children are, any little gesture makes your day!!! Lyn xxx.0 -
A very happy Mothering Sunday to all, and lots of love to those whose Mums are no longer here.
Sara I am so pleased everything went well and you all had a good time. Clearly her family know her for what she is, and therefore it didn't spoil your day.
You had some lovely presents and masses of flowers, you are one lucky lady. I had lots of flowers off DD2 and a James Martin cook book off DD1, she knows he is my favourite.
Lyn how lovely you had a card off Zebra (he is obviously going to be a clever young man:)), but seriously how thoughtful of your daughter to think of it.
Weather is gorgeous here, had 2 lots of washing out before we went to DD1, who hopefully will have her leg brace off on Thursday, that is when she sees her surgeon. She will have to have an xray first so he can check that the bone has knitted together after the op, and then it will be a matter of intensive physio to build up the muscles.
Thank you for asking Sara, she isn't in nearly as much pain, thank goodness, but is a bit apprehensive about losing the brace because it has supported her for 8 weeks. I have bought her a fold up walking stick (with flowers on) so she can pop it in her bag but if she feels the need it is always there.
Well must go now, chicken for lunch but of course I am all out with the "hour".
See you soon all.
Much love

Hello everyone :-)
FTM - I am so pleased to hear how well the wedding went, such wonderful news. Glad the rest of the family are lovely too, what a difference that makes.
VJs Mum - what great news for your DD - huge congratulations to her.
Hello to everyone else :-)
Well we had a busy weekend here, the rugby match was awesome and we got home very late. Feeling slightly fragile on Sunday.
We are having a problem with Alfie scent marking. He's done it twice on our bed (washed the duvet for the second weekend in a row) and last night I found patch in the corner of the bedroom. he is due to be neutered next week which I hope will stop it but I've heard it can continue with some cats afterwards. We've never had a cat do it before... at the moment I'm keeping him off the bed during the night, as I think he does it when he's fighting with the adult male, but that doesn't mean he's not going to do it somewhere else. Fingers crossed the neutering sorts it.
hope everyone is well

Morning all, we've just been across to our local Lidl as I needed some basics and their tinned Red Kidney Beans are the cheapest I've found for ages at 25p a tin so I got a whole tray of 12 to go into store, I use lots of them in cooking. I popped next door into the B & M store and found 240 Yorkshire Tea Bags for £3.99 which is most bargainous. Also got some packs of cheese risotto for the microwave at 59p and some microwave noodles in black bean sauce for 29p so very good value. It's dull and grey here today and trying to rain such a change from the weekend but not too cold so I must be grateful for that, have a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.0

Hello again everyone :-)
MLW - wow those are great bargains! I love kidney beans, I use them all the time to pad stuff out. They make my salsa soup nice and filling too.
DH's foot still sore - very slowly getting better we think. He was at rugby ref training last night which fortunately is mostly classroom based at the moment so he could hobble around. Meant I got an evening to catch up on tv cooking shows - my guilty pleasure!
Got another batch of soup made up last night as stocks were running low - chickpea, chilli and lime. It's yum! So cheap to make as well and I got 4 lunch sized portions from the one batch. Its from the new covent garden soup book which I picked up somewhere for 2 pounds before we left the UK.
Managing to keep the kitten off the bed to prevent yet another duvet wash - although I think he slept in DH's jeans last night - hope he didn't scent mark in there!!
Enjoy your evenings everyone :-)
