  • Docky's at the vetty persons place having his CAT scan and she's doing a biopsy of his nosey lump. She thinks it might be a very slow growing sarcoma and it seems not to be attached to any bone in his muzzle but free standing in the top of his cheek. She's very down to earth and a sensible lady, most impressed with her. We should get him back at 5 ish this afternoon after he's fully woken up from the anaesthetic and we'll have the results of the biopsy by Friday and then be able to make an informed decision about where we go from there. She will guide us I'm certain to do what is right for him and even said that 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should' so we'll listen to her advice and hopefully have our boy with us for a few more years yet, and Oh Boy will that be a VERY good thing too!!! Lyn xxx.
  • Oh Lyn I do so hope Docky will be OK, sending hugs and love to you, He Who Knows, the girls and Zebra.

I know you will do what is right for him, but I do hope you have him for a long time to come. Give him a hug from me when he comes home, I expect his legs might be a bit wobbly at first.

    Much love

  • The vetty person has just phoned and Docky is, as ever, a medical mystery!!! She has never seen anything like his nosey lump and it wraps around the nerve which comes down his cheek. It might be a very low grade tumour but equally could be some kind of reaction in the nerve itself, nothing is EVER straightforward with that hound, so, we'll have to wait for a few days longer for his results as they will have to send the biopsy off to a very specialist lab to have the analysis done!!! They're going to phone when he's awake enough to come home, bless him!!!Lyn xxx.
  • Lyn what did you expect, you knew he was somewhat special:).

When he comes around he will be wondering what all the fuss is about. I hope the test results are favourable, he is one special doggy.

    Awwww poor dopey docky dog.
    Hope he is ok

FTM - seems to be the problem is her, not you. That sort of behaviour is borne of jealousy usually. Hopefully DD will see through her. My MiL can be a bit trying, but generally we rub along ok. Mind after a week on a canal boat with her at Easter, it may be a different tale. Hope she can swim :p

Please keep fingers crossed for DD who got a recall at East 15 acting school for their BA in World Performance (no I don't really know what it is either, but she seems thrilled ) we will know in 2 weeks whether she has a firm place

Otherwise I am busy busy busy, but gradually my juggling balls are being safely caught.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Everything crossed VJsMum for your DD, I do so hope they offer her a place if that is what she wants.

  • Docky dog has an embroidered nosey!!! It hasn't gone into the bone and it hasn't spread, whatever 'it' proves to be. He's gone to ground in his armchair and is sleeping off the rest of his anaesthetic but was remarkably awake and perky when they brought him to us in the waiting room. Results some time next week now as she had to do a different type of biopsy to the needle core she was intending. Thank you all for caring about him.

VJsMUM wonderful news, tell your DD she's a star, and I wish her all the luck in the world for getting on to this course, brilliant stuff.

Going to sleep tonight, been a bit sleepless for the last few, cos he's my boy and I luvs him!!! Lyn xxx.
  • That sounds really promising Lyn, I am so pleased.

    Sleep tight

    Hi everyone

VJsMum - keeping everything crossed for your DD's recall :-) hope everything works out for her

MLW - poor Docky, hoping for positive lab results. Dogs don't half put you through it do they?! My parents' dog had a suspected stroke the day before they were flying out to stay with us for 3 months..... turns out she has a heart condition and it had been creeping up so slowly they hadn't noticed. She's been another medical mystery but seems to be continuing on in her own way.

Big boy cat spent most of the night seeking refuge from Alfie under our duvet. 5.30 am Alfie worked out where he was and pounced.... Fortunately he's pretty attuned now to the sound of the water squirter being picked up and I just have to wave it at him and he jumps off the bed.... to jump back on 5 seconds later...

Poor DH is suffering from a loose bone in his ankle. He's had it for a long time and it will cause more trouble to take it out he's told, but every so often it gives him some grief. Hoping it clears up before Saturday as we are off to watch a Super Rugby match which will involve a fair bit of walking.

Been naughty and not defrosted anything for dinner, but I'm planning on making pancakes as a treat - we haven't had them in ages, so will just have a light meal beforehand, probably a cheese souffle omlette with salad yum!

    Enjoy your evenings everyone :-)
