    Hi everyone

We had a busy weekend rounded off with a night in A&E with DH's foot.... Seems to be on the up now but he's got a few days off to rest it up properly.

The family cat died in the night on Thursday, poor thing. His kidneys gave up which was pretty final, but everything that could have been done for him was, and he had a good long life. Sad to see him go.

Just a short post as I'm pretty tired after little sleep last night, hope everyone is well

    Hello all..

MLW..hiya..o docky is just lovely..sat waiting bless him..hoping he is going to have big long walkies and hugs..

Candlelight..sorry you feel poorly hun..hugs are on the way..i love that idea of cutting a tree branch and hanging eggs off it thank you..i have plenty of branches so will get a good one ..o i bet your gal is raring to go and get back to normal too..sending her hugs too..
you take care and put your feet up..drink plenty of water too..

AOT..o no i didn't know you had had a fall hun..please take care..love to you as well..

Hoglet..so sorry about your mum and dad's cat..thats not a bad price for insulation is it..ooh you are so lucky to have free rugby..i drive my husband potty when its on lol..get quite into it and jump and shout..can't wait for the Rugby World Cup..will be brilliant.

Well we have had a great weekend..started Friday morning really..i got a lovely visit from Big Jenny who gave me a lovely bird identification book and a book by Shirley Goode..which is fantastic with lots of ideas and tips in it..its on my bedside cabinet ..thank you Jenny..it was just so nice to see you again..

On saturday we went to the Belton House Horse Trials..didn't cost a thing to get in ..admission was free with a National Trust membership..otherwise it was £10 per adult and£6 per child...so our membership more or less paid for itself.
We had a great time..watching the horses do the cross country run was exciting but i daren't look at some of the jumps..so high i was scared one would fall off and hurt themselves ,thankfully no one did this year.
Then we watched the Dressage..wow so beautiful and elegant..we were enthralled by them.
There was a dog show too..an agility ring with jumps, tunnels and poles for them to swerve through..watched them for ages..such clever dogs..funny too..as one didn't want to go through the tunnel and when he did he crept slowly through it,,bless him..
We found a traditonal merry go round..a helter skelter and a roundabout with little cars on it...Fern went on the merry go round and Iris on the roundabout..Fern loved it and was laughing away..Iris howver did not enjoy her ride at all..it went on for far too long and was a lot faster then we thought..she felt sick when she got off..so did 3 other children who were crying..we took her for an icecream after she had stopped feeling ill..
We did treat ourselves to a hot drink and something to eat from one of the stalls who had chairs and tables in a marquee..not too badly priced either..
All in all a great day..they were so tired when they got home..we had a quick tea of beans on toast, bath and bed early..i was tired but happy and Simon was too..
Yesterday was good..busy but good..i changed the beds and did all the cleaning and ironing..Simon did lunch..which was lovely..nice piece of beef with the trimmings..he took the girls in the greenhouse and got them helping to pot on veg seedlings and flowers..they cleaned out the chickens and did some weeding..they are spawn spotting and i have put some huge cushions and a picnic blanket in the wendy house so they can be comfy whilst bird watching..they have binoculars and its so funny to see just 2 pairs of binoculars peeking out the window at me..
I showed them the blog we read together"Our new life in the country"..they absolutely love sue and her doggies especially Mavis the little dog who was abandoned..we actually cried over that..they were excited to see their names and after we read it they jumped up and down..and said how nice it was and that is seems most chickens do the same things..eat,peck,eat,drink,peck,lay eggs,peck..lol..
O no my dd has been in touch..my gd's have come out in chicken pox..they are covered and miserable..o no..the girls haven't had them yet...fingers crossed it by passes us..
Right got to go..things to do and get ready
    love to you all
    ftm

Have a wonderful time MLW! Paris in the spring, how wonderful :-)

Aww thanks FTM, that's lovely for you to say. Amazing how much better you feel after a good nights sleep.

Hope you're feeling a bit better Candlelight x

Made a bit of a mistake this morning - cats had us awake from 4am, Alfie likes to thunder round and round the bath, then at half 4 I went downstairs to find out what it was I could hear him destroying... he'd fished DH's burley bag out from the garage and had wrapped it all round the dining table legs, and had chewed the rope all down the hall..... It must still smell a bit fishy and be very attractive to him. Anyway, with all this carrying on I thought I'd feed him, that usually calms him down a bit. Got back into bed and realised.... He couldn't have anything to eat or drink after 10pm last night as he's getting neutered today aaargh!!

Brave DH limped his way into the vets with him this morning as Alfie still needed some vaccinations and told them what I'd done. They are very pragmatic in there, and also very lovely, and said that was ok, they would operate on him later on in the day.... Phew! I still feel very silly tho....

And then I got into work and realised I'd forgotten my lunch......

In better news we're off to watch my cousin's son in his school play tonight, really looking forward to it. DH's foot is slowly getting better - ligament damage but keeping it rested seems to be helping him a lot. Got home to him feeling much happier yesterday evening, limping but able to put weight on it.

Hoping I don't do anything else silly today! Have a great evening everybody

  • Afternoon everyone,

Thank you for your good wishes, much better now thanks. I know what to do when I think it is coming on and if I can catch it in time I am fine.

Weather is lovely here today, I have a load of towels in the WM and I want to be in the garden this afternoon. I don't know whether it is an age thing but I do feel the cold more these days, I never used to.

I expect Lyn is having a wonderful time in gay Paris with DD, and eating some lovely food as well as soaking up the culture.

Scottishminnie Helloooooooooo I hope you are OK and just extremely busy. Not back in the Sunshine State yet?

Hoglet I hope Alfie is OK after his op. Flora was fine after hers, but when DD had Flora's son "done" a couple of months ago he was really poorly afterwards and she had to take him back to the vet. He is fine now.

FTM you sound as though you had a lovely weekend. Poor Iris feeling poorly. I remember when I was a teenager I went on the waltzers (sp) and the attendant was young himself and he kept turning the chair round and round and when it stopped I felt so ill and could barely stand up. I think he was showing off but I can assure you he didn't impress me.

Well better finish now otherwise won't get much done in the garden.

    Love and hugs to everyone.

I think the waltzers thing is one stage further on from hitting people you like in the playground, and one preceding thinking a muscle car will get you a girlfriend!
young lad did it to me and my mate when we were about 14 - he was watching and being watched by his male mate as he spun us around & we giggled a bit and turned green!

    Hi everyone

Candlelight - i hope you managed to get into the garden, always so lovely when the weather is nice. Alfie is fine thank you for asking, he was a little bit sleepy when he came home and within a few hours he was swinging from the curtains again. His new trick is unraveling toilet paper and running it through the house....

Had someone contact me yesterday missing a ginger kitten - I asked him to list any distinguishing features and he said an eye infection, which Alfie has never had and he didn't mention the broken tail, so I'm pretty certain Alfie isn't their missing kitten.

Pretty quiet week for us - DH back to work today after being off to rest his foot, so no doubt he'll be busy catching up.

hope you all have a lovely evening

    Good morning all...
What a beautiful day yesterday and i am hoping today will be the same..

We took the girls to the Mid -Lent Fair that comes to town every year..the rides looked fantastic, unfortunately the prices were exorbitant..we had a good look at it all and bought popcorn and candy floss plus some hot doughnuts..lovely..had a nice walk through the park and feed the ducks on the way home..
Then we spent the entire afternoon in the garden..planting primroses, pansies and violas..the girls were fish tickling again..and frog spotting..our spawn has hatched and we have tiny tadpoles..
Our lawn mower has give up..we spent some money on spare parts and it seemed to be ok..then a cable snapped and we can't find one to replace it..such a shame..will keep looking for the part..

Candlelight..am glad your feeling better..and its lovely and relaxing to work in the garden ..i find it rewarding.
I think your right about it being a male showing off thing at the rides..the man that was in charge of Iris's ride was busy chatting up a pretty girl and seemed to forget about the ride..

    Seakay..lol..that made me chuckle..

Hoglet..glad the little kitty is ok..loo roll through the house..had a giggle at that.
I hope all the ladies on here are ok ..
got to go..laundry to put out and work to do..
    love to you all

  • Good evening all,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. It has been very overcast here today, but according to weather reports Sunday and Monday should be good, so hopefully more gardening to be done.

DGD1 came for her lunch today, her boyfriend was coming with her but he wasnt very well so it was just the 3 of us. Saw photos of her recent holiday which were lovely and it looks as though she really enjoyed herself.

"Older" children and younger children have all had their Easter eggs and younger ones have finished school now.

I have to have a new laptop so new one should be with me the week after next. It always takes me a little while to become used to a new one.

Only firm appointment next week is to take DD1 to physio and I have a hair appointment on Saturday, (not before time either) so hopefully if the good weather promised continues the garden should be looking quite good for Easter.

Lyn will be home from gay Paris tomorrow so hopefully we will hear of her adventures in due course:)

Can't think of any more news at the moment, Himself has back ache at the moment so is taking anti inflammatory which seem to be working, Flora is asleep on one of the kitchen chairs, she has the life of Riley now, and I have finished my jobs for the day.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and love and hugs to all.
