  • TFIF!!! What a week! I am on the point of burnout - have spent a full week trying to advise and sort out budgets and benefit claims for the world and his wife . .... . . . . feeling very low . . . especially as I have met two people this week who are calmly but seriously contemplating suicide as being the solution to their problems.
Have met lovely, genuine, caring people struggling to cope with the benefit changes/cuts - feel very useless as there is nothing to offer them except sympathy
    Very demoralised at the moment
    :(:(:(:(

Oh Charlies aunt, how awful that anyone would feel like that. How this government can have the temerity to say that people are better off is beyond me. So sorry that you are feeling so low as a result (((hugs)))

    FTM, how are you feeling?

MrsL, sorry I missed your birthday, hope you had a good day xx

VJsmum, how is your daughter doing after the news?

    Hi Candlelight :hello:

Busy with work, it's very challenging which is alternating between good and very frustrating :D

Hope you are all keeping well, just having a few glasses of wine and listening to some music.

We had a very decadent dinner tonight - take-out from Costco :p Jacket potato with chilli and cheese and chicken bake for less than £5. We know how to live :rotfl:

Candlelight and aot hope todays been better x

Have to admit I'm with you all regarding baths. Last night hot bubble bath, kindle in one hand, sons of the sea playing in the background. Heaven :)
As soon as I get in the pains in my legs disappear and weight of the world vanishes.

    Nothing like being rejuvenated

I made a massive decision in my and my families life. I know it sounds incredibly selfish but I have completely simplified our lives. No more stress filled days dealing with parent forum and being around two-faced whining people. to the point where my asd under diagnosis 9 year old was badly affected and it messed him and my 13 year old up.

This week has been a complete change really positive, both kids enjoying our time. Lots of home cooked meals instead of rubbish food.

Even been attempting a but of home schooling, relaxing at the moment and, then maybe a bit of yoga in the morning :)
  • Thanks Candlelight, the chest infection is finally clear and I feel brighter for the first time in a while.:T Sorry to hear about your clients, its just ridiculous how some are being treated.

Well, I spent most of last week clearing out my spare bedroom (aka rubbish tip) and am pleased that can see where have been but still plenty to do there. The intention is to get it functioning as an organised store room as well as craft space. Wish me luck!

Charlies-aunt, one of my hopes this year is to be more practical this year and make more things. That caramelised onion chutney will definitely be on my list. Sounds delicious.

AOT so pleased the chest infection has cleared and that you are feeling more positive now. Onwards and Upwards I think.

It is quite theraputic when you start clearing rubbish out. Himself went to the tip this week with the wood from a very old chest of drawers we took apart, and general bits and pieces.

I bought a new duvet cover and pillow slips for the double bed in the guest room, off flee bay, so it wasn't expensive and it has made such a difference really brightened the room up Pink with white spots!!! I have some beautiful old pink and white china and put that on one of the bedside tables and I am really pleased with how it looks. I always think January is the month for having a "sort out",

I have also ordered a new mattress for our bed,of which we are in desperate need. We have been talking about it for a little while but if it was left to Himself it would never be done. I now have to arrange with the Council to take away the old one. I know this will cost but a mattress is quite a difficult thing to move and it won't fit into our car, and anyway I don't want Himself trying to carry it.

    Look after yourself AOT

    Much love

  • Charlies-Aunt I am sorry you have had such a horrible week

There are so many people in need of help and advice at the moment and I am sure mentally you must be at the end of your tether, along with those contemplating dreadful action.

I suppose your hands are tied somewhat, when all you want to do is help.

I am sending you lots of hugs and try to de-stress a little over the weekend.

    Much love

  • KATE hugs to you as well, you sound as though you are having a difficult time at work.

  • Morning all. It sounds like everyone is having a horrible time right now for various reasons. I always find January to be the most trying month of the year (well the part I spend back home) and this year has been no different. Numerous dramas at home, at work and with parents which I won't go into but safe to say I will be welcoming February on Saturday! I'm sure most of it is psychological however that's just how I feel.

I'm so far behind with things it's scary so I've made a list this morning on the train to work. It's a huge list however some things are smallish so should be able to mark them off very quickly.

Hugs to everyone and I'll be back later with more cheerful/constructive comments than my depressing rant above!

  • Rant away SM as you say so many of us seem to be troubled at the moment. I don't like January at all.

Try looking forward to you next visit to Florida that should keep you going for a while.

  • Good evening everyone,

My goodness it is cold here today. Was busy making chocolate tray bakes for our grandchildren this morning so the kitchen was nice and warm.

Saturday was dreadful with that awful storm. Reading the news it seems most places in England had it much about the same time . We seem to have extreme weather conditions at the moment, but luckily we haven't had flooding like so many people.

FTM I hope you are feeling a little better, and that you haven't had to go into hospital.

MLW how is it going with your "lodger"? It must be quite exciting helping her to look for a place of her own. Not long until Ezra makes his appearance, hope your DD is OK.

We are taking DD1 out to lunch on Thursday before she goes into hospital. It was going to be tomorrow, but the handle on her toilet has broken so she needs to wait in for the plumber who promises he will be there in the morning.

Grandchildren coming for their evening meal tomorrow and Himself will meet them from school. DGD2 is appearing in West Side Story in March and has to rehearse every Monday night after school so Himself does the honours there as well. He is such a good man, they only have to 'phone if the bus hasn't turned up or if they are running late and he is there.

I think that is all my news at the moment, not very exciting and I will be glad to see the back of January. Himself is 70 in February so hopefully it will be a better month.

    Sara take care of yourself.

    Much love to you all

    Candlelight x
