Hello all..am back..i have just been rushed off my feet with things..
MLW..am so glad your feeling better..have a nice quiet weekend relaxing..o your hubby sounds like mine..always at one of the girls doing some odd jobs..he moans but loves helping them..and they do appreciate it which is lovely..o i am so picturing you in an arm chair near a lovely fire..so cosy.
Candlelight..hello..i got your pm..your oh sounds lovely..and my hubby can relate to him on the shyness levels..he is quiet until pushed..but has so many ladies he works with chat away to him..bless him..i tell him its because we have so many daughters he can chat to women like a woman all day ..lol...hope your oh got his results ok..
Kate..i hope you enjoy your lay in..o i would swap my oh for a lay in past 6..i just wake up and have to get out of bed..even at weekends..its annoying in one way but quite good for getting on with the jobs..
Right well i have had two birthdays this week..Fern was 8 on wednesday..can't believe it..she was so excited..bless her..she only asked for one thing and that was a My little pony that talks and walks..well she got it and couldn't wait to rip the box apart..she had a pink tea party with a pink cake and i bought some little ponies to go on top..o you would have thought they were made of gold..she has them in a little box in her jewellery box for safe keeping..they are cute though..she was one happy little girl...also it was simon's birthday on friday..now he didn't want a cake so i made him a bread and butter pudding with a huge candle in it..i got him a new body warmer and a dough cutter..he was quite taken with dough cutter,..
On the flipside my son was laid off work..he was so upset..his boss told him he was not experienced enough and was letting him go...now i thought the whole point of being an apprentice was to get experience and learn..plus he hasn't been paying sam on time or for 2 weeks nothing at all...so unfortunately for sam's boss my lovely yet tough hubby went to see him and bingo sam got all his money paid into his bank account yesterday..it seems he doesn't have any work and is struggling financially..sorry not our problem..our son's happiness is...sounds tough and i do have sympathy but he could have been more honest with sam..it has shaken his confidence..so we all had a chat and he is going to start looking for a new job after christmas..i have employed him for now;)..he can help me out around the house and garden and allotment..no wages just don't want him sitting about..
So as i said i have been rushed off my feet..our kitchen swap around went well now we both have work space to do our own things..i have re-organized my pantry..my freezers and done total inventory on both..we only shopped for fresh bits this week..and hopefully next week too..then i will get my stuff for christmas..its just us christmas day so that will be relaxing..we going to one dd on boxing day and another day after and another on new years eve so busy and means my house won't look like a bomb has gone off:)..
I found a unopened bottle of whisky in pantry, and for the life of us we can't remember getting it..we don't drink the stuff..so its gone in the pile for presents to other people..found a full bottle of gin?..where the heck did that come from..but i am keeping that..ssshhh i can have a G&T when no-one is looking..
I have been busy in the evenings making scarves and things..i have done the tutu's o i wish i was little and had one..they are so full and flouncy..i have made some little dolly blankets for the girls prams . I have made pompoms for the christmas trees..yes thats right trees..we are having one in the dining room for the girls and our grown up one in living room..i have green and gold in mind which is a good job as a i have boxes of green and gold baubles..
right i have gone on and on again...
going to go and have a cuppa and sort out my christmas cards..
love to you all

Sorry me again..yes hubby won the tupperware on e*bay..it has arrived and is wonderful..it was so funny to watch him..he was not letting it go..i was prepared to walk away at a certain price and look at others but o no not him..he was swearing something awful and calling the other bidders names..so glad no one heard him..honestly he counted down from 20 seconds finger on the bid box just in case anyone else tried to outbid him..you would have though he had won the lottery..jumping around the room..dancing and singing " its mine all mine"..so funny..and for a tupperware bread box..lord knows what he will do if he wins something he really wants..probably a streak up and down the road..lol..he is so funny..and determined.

FTM, I can picture your DH doing a dance!
Sounds like a very busy time and sorry to hear about your son's job. I hope he can find something else and well done hubby for sorting out the wages.0 -
Afternoon everyone, first and foremost I hope everyone to the north is weathering this dreadful storm and that you are and continue to be OK!!! The wind is picking up here but I can only imagine how scary it is in the full force of it further north and am sending you all love and hugs and wishing you emerge the other side of it whole and hearty.
I'm off to DD1 for another concert tomorrow, this is the official start of christmas as it's Handels' Messiah in the Cathedral which is a truly wonderful thing to be able to hear. This year she has bought me the music score so I can follow as the performance is given, sometimes I've followed the latin and sometimes I've followed the translation and sometimes I've just sat back and let the music flow over and through me, it's beautiful and I love 'I know that my Redeemer Liveth' which always makes me want to cry as it's such a beautiful piece of the work. So if it's not too early Merry Christmas and have yourselves a lovely weekend and I'll catch up with you all when I'm back on Monday afternoon, Love Lyn xxx.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I hope everyone is OK after the dreadful storms, we had horrendous winds yesterday, but not living by the coast we tend not to have flooding (fingers crossed).
Well I had my first Christmas card this week from 2 very special little girls, thank you so much Fern and Iris, it is beautiful.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend MLW, it sounds very much as though you will.
FTM, Himself collects small maritime items, and he always lets me do the bidding for him on bay of E. I am just like your DH I wait until the last 30 seconds before putting my bid in and I can't tell you the adrenalin rush it gives you and the sense of achievement when you win it ( not always though) but we always set a limit and won't go over that.
Well have had a busy week. Friend came with her family on Wednesday evening and we had a lovely time. Food was eaten, wine was drunk by them, not us, and presents were exchanged.
Yesterday I was a "Lady out to lunch" Those of us who retired at about the same time try to meet up about every 6 weeks, and it is good to catch up with all the news. We won't see each other again before Christmas so exchanged cards and had a light lunch, it was very nice.
Today went up to see DD1 and then on to see Sister and Brother in law, and took presents for their grown up children. We don't buy big presents now, just a tin of biscuits and a tin of sweets that the whole family can share. I always buy their little ones a decoration each for their tree, so hopefully when they are older they will remember who gave it to them.
Himself had the results of his blood tests and they are absolutely NORMAL, thank goodness, so we can relax and he seems easier in himself now .
We are off to the cemetery tomorrow because it is my Mum's birthday on Sunday, I don't know whether you have noticed but it is always so cold there whether it is summer or winter. I suppose it is the big open space.
Charlies-Aunt, Scottishminnie and Kate are you all OK?
My other Sister and Brother in law return from Florida next week, so it will be good to see them. They have a house there so usually go for about 2 months at a time throughout the year. They love it, but I wouldn't enjoy the travelling so often because I am not the best traveller. If I could twitch my nose like Samantha in the old Bewitched program I would be alright.
Well, I think that is all my news, I hope you are not too bored with my ramblings, but when I have had a good week it is nice to "talk" about it.
Take care everyone and have a good weekend.

CANDLELIGHT super news over your DHs blood test results, I'm so pleased for you both that they are normal. Will this make him relax a little and be less stressed and perhaps enjoy life a little more? I so hope it will, Love Lyn xxx.0

Great news re the blood test Candlelight, yay for being normal!
V busy at work, it's gradually making more sense.
Sorted out car insurance tonight; we always stay with the same company as they were good when I had an accident 3 years ago (non fault, some numpty used me as his brakes when I was sat at a red traffic light!) but get quotes from the comparison sites then they price match themselves or their sister companies which are usually cheaper than our renewal.
Daft we have to go through it but got almost £200 off my insurance so can't complain.
Need to order some spare glasses, I've got my prescription from the optician, just need to find the time to go looking. I wear contacts so only wear glasses for a few hours a day max and have my good (expensive!) glasses but don't have any spares if anything happens to them.
Lovely quiet weekend planned, nothing to do, nowhere to go - bliss!
Have a good one everyone x0 -
Morning all. Apologies I've been MIA a bit for the last week, I simply don't know where my time has gone!
I've been getting organised for Christmas and I'm nearly there. I have some gifts to wrap and cards to mail however not a whole lot left to do which is good news.
I had the joy of a trip South on Thursday during the big storm. I'm not a nervous flyer but I do prefer it to be calmer. Thankfully we had no damage here after the storm however it took me well over an hour to clean the outside of my windows at the weekend. I've never seen them so dirty:o Now I need to clean the inside too.
I have a day off today which I had great plans for however the tooth that I've had 4 months worth of root canal treatment on decided to play up on the flights on Thursday which was excruciating so I'm off back to the dentist this morning and it's a case of "we will try to fit you in" so I can see my plans for today going up in the air very soon.
Apart from that I don't think I have much to report, sounds like everyone is busy, busy. I hope nobody was affected too badly by the bad weather and we are all safe and warm. I may be back later to report on the offending tooth!0 -
Wow! where have the last few weeks gone too? I was very busy at the beginning of December as I was up to my elbows in flour, baking and prepping food for 70 people for DGDs christening party. It was very OS and "old fashioned" - porkpies, sweet & savoury pies, quiches, pizzas, cheese straws, cheese & caramelised onion tart and the like - everything home made from scratch so very labour intensive but everyone enjoyed it and I loved doing it.
Was whacked out the following week and eventually succumbed to the office cold for a miserable few days - recovering briefly before catching the D&V virusquickly followed by a horribly frantic few hours last Thursday night helping friends move their livestock and equipment out of the path of the flood water.
Phew!...and breathe!
Not feeling very Christmas-sy at all - not started any shopping or preps yet which is totally unlike the usual me. I don't know about anyone else but I am finding the continual hard sell of commercial Christmas to be a total turn off.... or maybe I am just a miserable, grinchy Bah-Hum!!!!!!!:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

CHARLIES AUNT you are by no means the only one being sickened by the continual hard sales tactics that seem to be in abundance on the TV and in the media generally this year, just wait until after the actual Christmas Day is over and see all the holiday ads trying to part us from our cash!!! I do fingers in the ears and look at the wall for all ad breaks at the moment, if I didn't I'd explode!!! Lyn xxx.0
