Candlelight..you are a real diamond..lovely cat..weird about the craft fair not being busy..good for you but must be hitting peoples pockets really hard now..
Well we have been busy trying to catch up from when we were poorly before to last weeks colds..got so far behind with house and school work..we have been working long and hard to get back to scratch..we finally done it..yay.
Simon is loving his new job..his old boss has stopped ringing thankfully..i now have to share my kitchen with simon..he makes bread that is so lovely..his cobs are amazing too..so we have decided to move kitchen around giving us both space to work..with the girls in there too trying to watch and help it got a bit hectic..so thankfully we never got rid of our worktops and 2 under-counter cupboards..so that is a job for tomorrow and saturday.
The allotment looks amazing..we got it dug over with help from sam..bless that boy.
Now we have been making christmas cards..so if you do recieve one that looks a bit rough and has sticky bits and glue all over it..then its from us. The girls insisted on doing them..and i let them so they maybe a bit rustic..i have finished a scarf and got another on the go..i completed one tutu and have a one to go..i have been making extra cakes and freezing them for christmas...
We had a bidding war one e*ay for a tupperware breadbox..its lovely..i didn't want to pay too much..simon however was not letting it go lol..a man on a mission he was..it arrived today with some extras in it..2 beakers spoons and a little lunchbox which i promptly claimed for keeping my butter in in the fridge..
It's so cold here..wether its because we have been ill again i don't know..our heating been on a lot..me and simon have been going to bed about 9..getting all snuggly and warm..its my first late night tonight..

Morning FTM it's cold everywhere at the moment even down here, we've put on lots of extra layers and light the woodstove earlier but we're determined not to use the central heating unless we absolutely have to!!! DD1 and I are still coughing and spluttering after the virus but are both feeling so much better. It's a nasty one and taking more time to go than anything we've has before. Hope you are all feeling better after catching your collective cold. I hope you're all fully over the timmy bug now as well. Glad that Simon is happy in his new job, that makes everyone relax and be happy as well doesn't it?. We've got some lovely leeks and parsnips on the allotment here and a couple more stands of leeks in the back garden but other than that all the ground is dug and ready for the spring plantings. Hope the rearrangement of the kitchen goes well, and well done on winning the Tupperware Bread Box, a man on a mission does not LOSE!!!!! Look after yourselves, Love and hugs Lyn xxx.0

Hello everyone,
Lovely morning here again but really cold, and I am so thankful that we are retired now. I said to Himself the other day remember when we went to work in the dark and came home in the dark. He would be outside at 5.a.m. clearing the frost off the windscreen so he could start work at 6.a.m. We are still not people who stay in bed past 7 but at least we don't have to go out if we don't want to.
FTM so good to hear from you, I was worried you might have the lurgy again. I have had a bit of a cold this week, nothing to make me feel ill or anything, but I think because the weather is so changeable it is inevitable. Glad you are all feeling better now.
The Christmas cards sound exciting and I am sure Iris and Fern loved every minute of it. Was the dreadful glitter used? I have been known to walk about with glitter on my nose when I used to make cards with my granddaughter!!!. Have sent you a PM, if you don't receive it let me know, I have only done that once before and am not sure whether I am doing it right.
MLW pleased you are feeling slightly better. It must have been some dreadful virus, (Probably foreign)!! Let us hope that is your one and only this winter. Your DD has my sympathy, I have asthma but it is only triggered by a virus or the common cold. I have to increase the use of my inhalers by quite a bit.
Have done quite a lot of baking this week now that the freezer has been cleaned, lemon drizzle cake, mince pies and fruit and cinnamon loaf(fat free). I might add Himself and I won't be eating them but I do need to have something in for when visitors are expected.
Have a good weekend everyone and stay warm.
Love to you all

MrsL, hope you are completely recovered now. These things take time to get out of your system don't they?
Went to the charity shops yesterday and picked up a few bits including a nearly new next suit for £7. Also got a little glass dish for 3 tealights. Had a look for some blankets but no luck.
Slept in until gone 8 yesterday and today which is very unusual for me. Just having a cuppa then need to get some washing on. OHs friend is coming over to work on their car and OH has promised I will bake something.
Nice piece of beef reduced in Mr W yesterday so that will go in the slow cooker soon.
Hope you are all well x0 -
FTM, I love your posts, they are so full of all the small joys that are really important in life.

Morning KATE still coughing but very much better thanks, and I'm sure the cough will depart over the next week or so. Super CS finds, well done. I haven't seen blankets as such in charity shops for quite a time now, I always look for the lurcha but it seems they are very few and far between in this day and age. I've actually got in a couple of the cheaper fleeces for his bed which he seems to like and they have the advantage of washing well and drying quickly, even indoors in the utility room. Glad you had your lie ins over the past couple of says, makes all the difference when you work long hours does a lie in!!! Enjoy your beef today, we're having some savoury mince and I'm making big yorkshires to serve it in along with some steamed veg, it's lovely having a hot meal at lunchtime in this colder weather isn't it?
Hope everyone is well and happy and warm, look after yourselves, Lyn xxx.0 -
Mmm, love the giant yorkshire puds idea. Might make those myself.0

Candlelight - your cat has a very good home, not everyone would take in a stray but it sounds like she is very comfortable there:)
MrsLM - hope you are feeling better.
Kate - I have a day off on December 10th and am looking forward to an 8am lie in. Talk about wishing my life away:o - it just doesn't happen very often.
FTM - the bidding war on Tupperware made me smile. When I was first married I was desperate to be invited to a Tupperware party but the fashion at the time was for Pippa Dee clothing parties and silk floral arrangements. Dust gatherers my gran used to call the flowers - now I'm inclined to think the same way. I'm definitely turning into her:D
Well, my Christmas shopping is underway. The hamper which I always do for mum and dad is well in hand and I've picked up lots of nice little things, only the big ones to go now:o
My mission for the week is to write the newsletters which go in the overseas cards and to have them all written by next weekend. This has to be a least favourite job for me!
Today I harvested the last of the celery from the garden and made celery and blue cheese soup. I don't know if I did something wrong but my celery was very thin little stalks, although tasty. It just meant a lot more cleaning and chopping.
I planned to venture up into the loft today to look for books for the charity shop however my step ladders were missing so off I went to hubby's workshop to see if they had made their way there. They had indeed, however they are now covered in paint, oil and goodness knows what so they will not be darkening my door again. Now I need to get a new set - I'm sure this was his plan all along....
Off to search for the darning mushroom now - it's gone awol and hubby is on a one man destruction mission with his socks right now
Enjoy the rest of your weekend all.0 -
Hello everyone,
Goodness me it has been quiet on here this week. I hope everyone is well.
FTM are you and the girlies OK?
MLW are you free of that awful cough yet?
I am really pleased with myself because I have bought all the presents and most of them are wrapped. Not a job I enjoy doing, but am always delighted to see them when they are done. The front bedroom looks like Santa's Grotto at the moment, so I won't be sorry when I can deliver some of the parcels.
I have a friend coming Wednesday evening. She always brings her 2 daughters, 1 son in law and her granddaughter and they come straight from work so I like to make something warming for them. I have made a huge cottage pie (which is in the freezer) and they will have that with crusty rolls. I have also made an apple and mincemeat crumble, the fat free loaf I made the other day and I will be making more mince pies tomorrow. I look forward to seeing them all and they love Himself and he is very good sitting here making conversation with so many women. He is a very quiet, shy man, so I appreciate it isn't always easy for him, unlike me who can rabbit on forever!!.
Popping into town tomorrow to do a bit of shopping, and then baking in the afternoon.
Sunday we are off to Costco to buy the joint of beef for Christmas, and to see if they have any turkey crowns. Both daughters are coming with us so that will be good, although we don't stay more than an hour or so, depending on how busy it is..
Himself had his usual blood test on Wednesday and spent the whole of yesterday expecting a call from the Doctor. Last time he went in the morning and had a call from the doctor by the afternoon. Anyway this has not happened, but he isn't a good patient!! so we must wait and see.
Today is quite mild, but it has been bitterly cold some days this week.
DGD1 went to London with her boyfriend on Wednesday. Went to the Natural History Museum, did some shopping in the afternoon and went to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park in the evening. I haven't seen her but she said in her text that they were both shattered but had really enjoyed themselves. Arrived home about 11 p.m.
I think that is all my news for now, if I think of anything else I will be back.
Take care all
Candlelight x0 -
Evening CANDLELIGHT you're a busy bunch of bunnies over the next few days, hope you enjoy everything and the visits and hope Himselfs blood test results come back as he wants them to.
I'm on my own with the lurcha this weekend as He Who Knows has gone to DD1 to do some jobs around the house that need two sets of hands (plumbing things and radiatory things!!!) and some outside painting too. They are currently at the Rugby this evening and I hope enjoying themselves very much. My cough and DD1s has almost gone thank you, still just a bit tickly particularly when changing temperatures but nothing like as annoying as it was. Weather here is cool but not bitter but it's still nice to light up the stove in the evenings and snuggle up in an armchair.
Hope everyone else is OK too, I know you're all busy people and hope lives are smooth and happy all round, Love Lyn xxx.0
