Hubby went to the allotment this morning..it has 2 sheds yay..one is a potting shed and the other has a couple of chairs and table in it..so our own tea spot..still some veggies on it too..cabbages,rhubarb and 2 rows of leeks...the little shop is open a few times a week..selling fertilizer and seeds..they got a lottery grant to do it...can't wait to go and see it.

Elona..thank you..yes nagging(persuasion) is good...yes Lidls is amazing i love going there..so glad your DH is having last treatment and will recover with your care and Wow those meals sound good...my 2 littlies are quite good and will try new meals without persuasion..bless them..we are hoping to save quite a bit of money on growing our own again and swapping surplus with other gardeners..o and my hubby is already looking better..he actually slept last night..i told(asked nicely) him to switch off that darn phone...not too think about it or talk about it...i gave him gardening seed catalogues and we spent evening planning next years crops ..sounds strange but its the most fun we have had for a while and he actually enjoyed it..bless him.

Charlies aunt..thanks for the tips about Wilkos..will pop in this week..i have a box of seeds already but every bit helps...o i love pickled onions..enjoy.

SM..thanks hun..yes i understand that totally.."work to live" not "live to work"..he has had some pressure already not to go..i have threatened divorce if he succumbs to pressure...almost emotional blackmail from his manager..long story but emails and texts from him are doing me in...i can't wait for friday.
How much soup?..but then again i don't blame you..i am in process of re-stocking my freezer with Hm stuff..i would be lost without my second freezer.
And i see i have a comrade in the book hoarding..lol...i can't give them away..and if i do manage it..i have to stay away from the shop i gave them to or i will buy them back lol...

I have spent the last 2 days meal planning and doing a detailed shopping list..i have planned meals, breakfast, lunches, dinners and snacks for a month..i have got a lot in my pantry and chest freezer to do this..i just will stick religiously to my list and meal planner...
My son is a sweet lad..to cheer up the tots he went out and treated them to a new film..Epic..we all watched it earlier its epic lol..

I think with careful planning and being thrifty we can do this..i will make it work..i want my happy husband back..not the zombie i have now..
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement.
love to you all

I did a shop online in accordance with my meal plan and what i already have..a whole months food for £88..i thought that was great..thankfully it arrived and was sorted before i was ill...
I was wondering if others feel the same as me..it took 2 days for my house to go to pot when i was out of action..no laundry done,no meals cooked,no cleaning,no ironing..ect,its going to take longer to get it all back to normal..i was wondering how long it would take your homes to get out of rhythmn...

• Hi FTM sorry you've all been that poorly, I didn't want to contact you just in case, and I'm glad I left you knowinghow horrid it's been for you all. Glad you're collectively feeling much better now, look after yourselves, including you Mum!!! What a relief that your DH finishes his job today, such a relief for ALL of you and hopefully the start of a much more settled and tranquil period in your lives, yes, you'll not have as much cash coming in but, money after all although necessary is not the be all and end all is it? It really doesn't take any time at all for the house to be upside down and untidy but you'll probably find it's only 'surface' and that a couple of hours when, and only when you feel fit enough to tackle it will sort it out and make you spic and span again m'dear. Keep getting better and I hope the weekend sees you all feeling 100% again, Love Lyn xxx.
• Hi lyn..thank you..i kind of feel guilty for not doing anything school wise or house wise for a week almost..daft when i can only just make it to the loo and back again..i make a zombie look good.
Your right about money not being the end all...i so want to get our lives back on track..back to being Tom and Barbara..not so much Margo and Jerry..its nice to have the extra in the bank but with my meal plans and budget i am hoping we will be ok...
My son has dusted and hoovered today for me..i have made lunch for girls and him..just sandwiches..i was cross because i had to use bought bread..nevermind..hubby bought us all those awful rehydration sachets blackcurrant(not) flavour..yukky to the extreme but we need it..have lost weight i think..
I wanted to make today special for hubby..i got a Red Velvet cake mix with all the frosting for him as a surprise..going to do it on monday for him instead..
Just had a granola bar and some water..hopefully my tummy will settle a bit now...

• My goodness FTM you have all been in the wars. The trouble with a tummy bug it can go through a family like wildfire. Take it steady because you will be weak and just do what is necessary.

I don't think it takes long for a house to look in disarray to our eyes, but others wouldn't notice it. I know with a family you have to try to keep on top of the washing but everything else can wait. I am sure your house is clean anyway, it's just a matter of wiping things down and putting things away. Housework will be here long after we have gone!!

I am pleased your DH finishes his job today, and I am sure within a few weeks you will have the "old" DH back with you. No one in this world deserves to be treated badly, particularly in the work place. Employers think we are desperate for a job so we won't say anything, but I think more and more people are saying NO we won't put up with being treated this way.

Simon has proved he can go out and find another job, less hours so he can spend more time with his family and hopefully fairly stress free. I wish him all the luck in the world and I hope it is everything he would like it to be, and you will be a very happy Flower Tot Mum.

We have a butler's pantry off our kitchen(it sounds posh but it isn't) and it is an invaluable space, but we were recently re-wired so it needs painting. Himself and I are hoping to start this over the weekend, It won't take long once we start, but we do have to move the fridge and freezer out and other things, so the kitchen will look a mess while we are doing this, but not for long hopefully.

Well that is my weekend sorted, hope everyone else has a good weekend.

Hugs to anyone who needs or wants one

• Be well my friend, and take the time it needs for your constitution to catch up with itself too!! Don't feel guilty, the kids would have been off ill if they had still been going to school, and poor Sam would bave been home from work too, so there is nothing to feel guilty about is there? You make every day special for your dear Hubby just by being you, and the family makes every day special for him by loving him, the cake isn't important pet, your 'family' togetherness is, he'll feel himself as rich as Midas, cake or no cake, Lyn xxx.
• Candlelight..thank you..we have all been through the wringer..my house has never been this quiet or dis-organized..
Your quite right about employers..i understand that because of the recession we should be grateful he has a job but the stress is slowly killing him..maybe a tad over dramatic but its how i feel..
Wow you have a butlers pantry...i have pantry actually its a cupboard in the dining room..built in under the stairs so it slopes at the back..small but economical for food storage..it needs sorting and redoing...
Hope you have a good weekend..

Lyn..am trying to rest..my mind is full of things i should be doing but my body can't...i hope he feels that way..lol..he has been bathing girls and making his own tea every night..bless him..

Morning FTM hope you all had a decent nights sleep and are feeling much more able to cope today. You should still take it easy if you can, the housework is very obliging, it will still be there tomorrow!!! Hope your DH enjoys the first day of freedom from the tyranny of a horrible job, and has a lovely relaxy weekend before starting the new job next week. Look after yourselves, Lyn xxx.
• hubby bought us all those awful rehydration sachets blackcurrant(not) flavour..yukky to the extreme

FTM - a more palatable way to re-hydrate is to drink a glass of Coke (not the diet or caffeine free stuff - you need the "full fat" version) that has been beaten with a fork until its flat (not fizzy). When I worked on A&E that was the advice given to adults and children who presented with D&V etc :) Those sachets are 'orrible!!

Much easier to get hold of and probably not so expensive :)

Hi FTM, hope you are feeling back to normal now and so pleased you hubby has finished up work. Hugs to you ((( )))

My big news is I have a new job, starting in 3 weeks! It's a company I know as they are a supplier / customer to my existing company. I was only on a temp contract at existing company and there was no suitable permanent role; it felt really strange as my company knew I was going for interviews and where! Really looking forward to it, will be a challenge but in a good way!

Well, instead of going into Reading last week we went out and bought a load of new carpet to re-do the house. We rent but are planning on being here for several years more and so decided to make the house more homely. The old carpet was cheap and stained, really nasty (beige carpet in a farmhouse???)

We live in a lovely place, surrounded by farmland but only 5 miles from Reading and Wokingham so ideal really but it's always felt temporary so we need to "make it ours".

Did the dining room last Sunday and done the living room today; I'm really impressed with what we've done, it looks really professional. The carpet itself wasn't cheap although, apart from the dining room, it is all off-cuts of the same carpet, really good quality one.

We've also bought off eB@y a dresser with glass front on top. Looks lovely in our dining room; the whole house is starting to feel really cosy.

In the dining room there is a grey tiled fireplace (yuk!) - I've got some warm red tile paint so we're planning on painting that then refreshing the whole house with a good coat of paint.

Popped out and got a couple of beers and have a bolognaise in the slow cooker so once the house is back straight we can sit down with a beer and dinner and feel all lovely and snug.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend xxx
