    I'm here!!!

I don't know where the week has gone. Of course we were decorating the pantry, it isn't such a big job it is just that everything has to be moved and then the kitchen looks as though a bomb has hit it.

SM I wish my pantry looked like the photograph, isn't it gorgeous, but mine is a good and useful space so I must be thankful.

Wednesday we took my sister and brother in law out for lunch for their 42nd wedding anniversary. It was only a carvery, but it was very nice. We don't eat out often now because I always feel I could do just as well at home, but it is nice occasionally.

Yesterday Himself was running around here, there and everywhere. Had a text at 8.10.a.m. from 2 grandchildren to say their bus hadn't turned up and could he run them up to school.

Whilst he was out DD2 (their Mum) texted to say could Dad pick her up from garage because she is having trouble with car, and then later could he please pick her up from work to take her back to garage!!!

He doesn't mind in the least, because as he says when they were little he was always at work, but now he feels useful.

FTM I am so pleased Simon is looking better already. Isn't it dreadful to think that a job (or employer) can affect someone so badly, and like you I have seen it with my own eyes.

Fireworks seems to have started already unfortunately. I am not a killjoy, but they do seem to start so early these days. When we had our beautiful golden retriever he was absolutely terrified of them, and when I lived at home we had a black retriever and he hated fireworks and thunderstorms. He could hear a storm long before us and would hide under Mum and Dad's bed. I feel so sorry for animals because they can't understand and I think fireworks have become louder now as well.

Well it sounds as though we are all in for bad weather this weekend, so time to batten down the hatches and just stay at home, read a book or watch TV. I do have some baking to do as well, but that's nothing new.

Take care everyone and FTM thank you for thinking of me.
Mrs LW, sorry I missed your post, I hope your family stay safe, it is easy to say don't worry, but not as easy to do.

Hello everyone, hope you are well prepped for the weather and all keep safe x

Busy day yesterday, got the garden tidied, lawn mown, strimmed, duck houses cleaned, greenhouse tidied. Girls night in at my next door neighbours last night while the boys went out for a beer.

Today is tidying the house, try and put the furniture safe after the carpet fitting (still have the hall, landing and stairs to do but the house is a tip so that will have to wait!) then off on the fungi foray this afternoon, cant wait.
  • Its very blustery outside here but the sun has been out since first thing this morning and I've got four loads of washing dried on the line - including a load of bath towels :j Had to double peg sheets and quilt covers on the line to get them to stay put though! :)

We have just paid this quarters gas and electricity bill - a bit over budget as it was £180 despite having the hot water and central heating being switched off and no-one being at home during the day on weekdays. Will be relying heavily on OS methods of keeping warm this winter and its certainly given me an incentive to crack on with changing to thicker curtains, getting throws out etc.

Spending this afternoon sorting clothes out - have been threatening to do this for a couple of weeks but the change in the weather has made the packing away of summer clothes to create space for winter clothes a real necessity.

I was very lucky yesterday with a great CS buy - a cream Per Una linen jacket in lovely condition for £1 - felt a bit guilty getting it as its really totally the wrong time of year to be buying such stuff but it's a classic style and even though its now going to be packed away unworn (by me) until Spring, I know that I'll get lots of wear out of it next summer.

Ah well! upwards and onwards - better make a move.... hope everyone stays safe and warm tonight when the storm hits x x

  • The wind is definately picking up a bit down here and we had a heavy shower rattling through while the hound and I were walking this afternoon but it's so warm still, it's very odd!!! We're all shut up and tidied up in the garden, I've made us some food that we can have cold if we lose power and have the little stove for making hot drinks so I'm as ready as I'm going to get for whatever is going to come our way. Hope you are all sorted and battened down, and stay safe until this thing has been and gone, look after yourselves, Love Lyn xxx.
  • You too MLW, and thank you.

We have done the same, and just hope it blows past us. We can be quite lucky in the West Midlands with not too much damage, but of course these could be famous last words.

Stay safe everyone and take care.

  • Just popped in to say "stay safe" everyone. It's wet and blustery up here but for once we seem to be missing the worst so will be thinking about those further south and hoping the Met Office are just being drama llamas. :)
    NO FARMS = NO FOOD
  • Phew! Glad that the day is nearly over - we have been very, very lucky as we had heavy rain overnight but nothing worse than a stiff breeze and a couple of showers during day -the sun was even out this afternoon.

Hope everyone is safe, well and not too battered :)

    Good evening all,

Exactly the same with us Charlies-Aunt. We had rain early evening and over night but no more than might be expected at the time of year, and hardly any wind.

I know we are very lucky after having seen the news and especially homes in the South, and I am thankful for that.

    Take care everyone

Very windy overnight but no damage here; trip in to work was surreal as the roads were so quiet for a Monday! V thankful to have escaped unscathed.

House tidy and clean after a manic evening, have only just sat down!
  • We are OK too, no damage to anything but very noisy night with the wind and heavy rain, and the lurcha didn't like it one bit , he ended up between us on the bed and shook like a leaf until it all died down poor old lad! Glad all of you are OK and unscathed.

FTM hoping that you are all well and just busy as we haven't heard from you for a few days? Lyn xxx.
