I get so fed up with bra wires poking me all day
Kittie, as someone who had to wear Doreeen right through her teens & cannot bring herself to EVER go back there again, may I recommend sports bras? Nice wide straps, good support, a more natural shape, very comfortable & a much better range of colours!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
just a quickie. My bank, smile, is my home page and I check my account every day and just spotted a fraudulent transaction on visa, so I have rung my bank at 5 am and quickly arranged to have my card cancelled. It was for over £2000 for a plausible sounding company in the uk. Only yesterday I updated my m/s money programme with all transactions and expected bills and inputs for the next couple of months. Just a warning to be right on top of banking in order to avoid fraudsters
Another thing is e mails and not opening them, I am deleting e mails from anyone I don`t know as even opening an e mail can put a dangerous virus on the computer. Its a new thing and cannot be picked up by virus checkers
I can see us going back to pen and paper if all this continues
Sm, lol yes I see re wireless, am giggling in spite of fraud shock. Tw brilliant idea re sports bras, I`ll look into those today, I`ll have to wait though re buying as I got my cc cancelled. I buy everything except groceries, via cc as it is another ring of safety and m/s money tells me how much I have spent so I always pay it off, as I know in advance. Flipping nothing is safe re money, I even get anxious re using £20 notes as so many are counterfeit0 -
The discussion about nectar is a nice bit of timing from my POV - I've been thinking about getting one as I've started shopping in Mr S occasionally, and they always ask if I've got a nectar card. I've had a look at the website and it looks to be quite similar to a cashback website, where you have to go through their website to get your rewards. What I can't work out is which physical stores, except for Sainsburys, take nectar cards - can some of the more regular users advise, please?
I've always been wary of those reward cards as I'm not keen on other people or organisations having valuable marketing information about me. And then getting bombarded with tempting emails encouraging me to shop. I might have to review that position.
kittie - I've been thinking (semi-seriously, at least) of attaching elastic braces to my duvet - it tends to slip down the bed so I'll wake up early in the morning only half-covered and freezing.I can't even blame a partner, as I'm single!
Sur le continent duvet covers often have a flap at the bottom so you can tuck it under the mattress to keep it anchored over the bed. This may not help stop you throwing the duvet off in the middle of the night. Perhaps a bedspread over the top which you can tuck in at the sides might be a solution? It occurs to me that you might be chucking it off because it's too warm for you? But maybe you're just a restless and busy sleeper.0 -

That's a good idea, thanks - I'll have to see if I can find a bedspread that will do the trick. I'm definitely not too warm in bed - in fact I'm freezing - unfortunately I'm just very restless at night at the moment, and a slippery satin-effect duvet cover doesn't help!Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all...well its so cold here..got some snow too..girls were so excited to wake up to it this morning..it stayed nearly all day..and it kept on snowing on and off..not very big flakes but visible..glad i am stocked up.
Well i have been busy..baking..i made some apricot bars and mincemeat slices..yummy..bad news is my sewing machine is playing up darn thing..am totally lost without it..i want to make some bunting for a little princess tea party..me and girls are going to dress up and have tea and cakes on my grans china tea-set..daft i know but they missed me so much when i was in hospital and i them..so to celebrate our lovely life we are having a party..
We have been busy getting our bedroom make over ready..i won the curtains i was watching yippee..lovely ..giant red poppies on a white background and fully lined...i treated us to a new duvet cover..my lovely dd..bought me some new lampshades in a sale she went to..they match my curtains am well pleased with it all..
Went to town and bought some of those vacumn? bags..got a few clothes and some coats that need to be put away..so its all systems go for next week...
Had some fun yesterday..i was looking out my kitchen window and could only see 3 chickens..not a problem maybe the other one is in the shed or sunning herself..o no the little bu!!er was on the shed roof and heading for the neighbours garden...had to rush out literally vault up the shed and grab her before she pegged it...little devil saw me coming and went under the big privet that over hangs the shed..was tangled up in it for ages trying to coax her out..had bits of twig and god knows what else in my hair, then when i was about to have a hissy fit she just casually walks out the back of the hedge and jumps into the garden.Thats it i have had it with that one i can tell you..i bet the neighbours wondered what the heck i was doing..i'm sure my bum was on show as my jeans got caught on a nail and were being dragged backwards as i was going forward..full moon rising lol...so she has now had her wings clipped..and so have the others too..little devils...
Thanks for all the talk about tomato plants and pillows..very informative..thats why i love this place.

FTM - lucky you to have snow - I love the white stuff but there's no sign of it down here.
LOL at your cheeky chicken - lots of people on the OS board have them and they certainly sound like they're characters!
I'll be off to bed early tonight as I'm also tired, and cold, and I've got a cold.I put the fleece throw from the sofa on my bed last night so at least I'll be a bit warmer than I have been recently.
Wrap up warm, all!Back after a very long break!0 -
Not a very MSE evening at all - I decided on a whim to make some caramel cupcakes. As they were in the oven I started to get the bits out for the frosting and discovered I had no icing sugar - then I remembered using the last for the Christmas cakes. The nearest Tesco/Asda is about 5 miles away so I nipped out to the local Co-op where the icing sugar was £1.29 for a half pound box:eek: I dread to think how much I'll find it for tomorrow at Asda!
Can't believe you have snow FTM - I really though we would have had but it actually feels too cold. Minus 6 this morning when I left for work and only a bit warmer when I came home. Your chicken story made me smile - my grandmothers hens all had their own personalities, including the one who hid round the corner of the milking parlour and when the back door of the house opened flew at whoever was leaving squawking her head off. We were all used to it but it gave visitors a fright if we forgot to tell them first. I remember another character hen who Granny found one afternoon sitting on something. It looked really odd and granny was horrified to discover the silly hen was sitting atop 2 tiny day or so old kittens. Heaven knows what the cat would have done when she returned. Thankfully the kittens were non the worse once Granny had shooed the hen off:)
I'm planning a Costco trip tomorrow night (hopefully) to replenish some supplies although I need to remind myself no dishwasher tablets. I worked out even if I washed every day I have a years supply - not sure what I've been thinking of. My mum often runs out so at least I have plenty to share when that happens.
Anyway, off to bed now. It's so cold I may need my fluffy socks - naked woman in blue fluffy socks - not a good look. On that note - goodnight all:D0 -
Ah scottishminnie you made me laugh! I expect the chicken was trying to keep the kittens warm wasn't she?
at the image though!
It's bitter here and I've just looked out of the window, all of the cars in the car park are iced up except for mine. Looks like the bottle of pre-icer I got from MiL is actually working. No scraping for me in the morning
.
I can't wait for my bed, it's a few hours away yet though (about 7).

My two Christmas amyryllis are shooting up beautifully.I did have them in the conservatory but they were just not growing so they are on my sitting room window ledge and I am hoping by next week they will flower.I love them as they are so bright and cheerful in the cold weather and remind me that spring is hopefully just around the corner.Nights are getting lighter as well0

Would you believe it that 1 February was officially the first day of Spring and the first flowers (snowdrops) supposed to be out? Nope?? Me neither:rotfl:0
