    Thanks :)

Good things are happening, I just need to open my eyes a bit more to spot them I think. On my facebook I did used to do a 'Todays Good Things' status every day and challenged myself to list 4 good things that had happened that day. It did end up mainly being about the weather and food though! Maybe I will start doing that again though, it did help me feel more positive about things.

Just subscribed, did you manage to sell the tickets?

You're doing well, sometimes you have to take a few steps back to go forward.
I think mindset changes are harder than the physical paying off of the debts, but you'll get there - just don't be too hard on yourself!
    Happy debt-busting!

I did sell them in the end, just crossing my fingers the payment transfers from paypal to my bank OK. I know what my luck is like!

I am getting there with changing my mindset but still finding it difficult. When food shopping for example I decide what I am buying e.g. bread and will then look for the cheapest. I do still impulse buy though. I did a food shop this evening and as I was loading everything on to the checkout I counted how many purchases were impulse buys and I think about half were :( By the time you unload your shopping and have a queue of people behind you it is a bit difficult to change your mind about buying something though.

Good news about selling the tickets :j Hope the money transfers ok

...and well done with the shopping planning. Perhaps you need to look at what sort of things you impulse buying ? Is it toiletries or nice pre-made meals or "special offers" (or cakes? this is my downfall :o)
TBH I stopped buying in Morereasons because I would get caught up in 2-for-1's and just kept filling my chest freezer then not eating the stuff. I got rid of the chest freezer and now manage with 3 drawers in my fridge/freezer. Then I switched to A1di. I try and plan meals for the week and then check what I already have in and make a list of what else I need to buy for those meals only. Once I have everything on my list I allow myself 1 impulse buy. That 1 treat that you can't resist (usually a packet of biscuits in my case :o ).

I seem to be impulse buying chocolate! I never even used to eat it!

I got out with the intention of buying bread and salad for example, and yesterday managed to get bread, salad, icecream, chocolate, hair dye, a tin of peaches... the list goes on!

This was the first time though that at the check-out I actually looked to see what impulse buys I had got. Usually it goes through and I pay no attention.

If it were easier to change your mind at the check-out about things then I could just unload what I didn't actually want.

That's why when I do online shopping I hardly buy anything, I delete so much before I actually pay. I can't do online shopping for things I need quickly like bread and milk though, and the delivery costs a lot.

    Grrr!

Perhaps you could try writing your list with the cost of each item then only take that amount of money with you and leave your cards at home ? I do this if I go to shops for basics like milk & bread as it stops me picking up "offers" and I only come out with what I went in for

That might be a good idea. I have been saving my receipts, so I can go through and see how much things cost and do my shopping list from there :)
I will give it a try, although shouldn't need shopping for a while now :)

Good news that pet insurance finally paid you. Good idea about delaying banking cheque if youre worried about splurging

I see you have updated your signature and youve paid off your loan and nearly paid off your OD and HMRC.... well done :j
