But I have worked for 42 years, never been unemployed and paid a monthly tax bill that would make your eyes water!

So as a part of a pensioner couple, both being severely disabled, don't you think that for one, I have a right to object that the taxes I continue to pay in January every year are paid to help out with your childcare arrangements?

Pity you didnt save better then you wouldnt be living on pension credit!!

At the moment, you are being supported massively more than you are supporting anyone if the thread about how much benefits you were getting is to go by... As a matter of fact, it sounds like you are getting more of a disposable income than many people in the high tax band.

How did you bring up your family when they were little? Your wife stayed at home and you supported them? Well lucky you that you were working age at a time when most families could live well with only one salary, or if your wife worked, at a time when childcare costs were such that you didn't work just to pay childcare.

I really fail to understand how anyone can be so bitter when they themselves are flooded in benefits money and could very well continue to do so for many years, yet they don't have half the costs that families with children have...

Yes we receive an obscene amount. But it is all geared to our disabilities. We would willingly give up the money if we can be assured that it will be given to those that genuinely need it.
I am hoping that when PIP and Universal credit come on line, will sort all of this out. Yes I am genuinely embarassed about what we are given and as I have mentioned before, find it very difficult to spend it!
One of the worst days in my life was to involve social services/council etc who told us that we must claim it. I only went to the council to try and get help with paying our council tax!

My wife stopped working when she was in her early 30's when the children came along and has never worked since. That was 37 years ago.
I supported the family, first by having two jobs, then progressing my career.

I saw it as my responsibility to provide for my family without help from anyone else, excluding family allowance

Save? You try saving with 4 daughters to support and still do even though they are married!! Who has paid the deposits on their homes? Who has bought and maintained their cars? Who has funded their education instead of landing them with massive debts before they start work? Who buys clothes for the grandchildren? Who has paid for four weddings? We do and have done.

Without our help all 4 would be living in rented properties lining the pockets of landlords, and having to repay education debts for evermore.

Besides which we do have savings but are careful to ensure that they never go over £9,999!!

Do any of your daughters use CTC to pay for childcare?

No they don't. They each have a live in nanny/housekeeper that is paid for out of their wages!!

On their days off, we provide the childcare free of charge.

As for my daughter, she left university with a degree in Law (LLB), married, and had two children and has never worked!

You paid for your daughter to get a law degree, you paid for her wedding, you pay for her children's clothing, and she has never worked but still has a live-in nanny/housekeeper (paid for out of whose wages again?), and when the nanny/housekeeper is off, you look after her children?

Before you start telling anyone on public forums how to live their lives and take responsibility for themselves, perhaps you should look a bit closer to home.
