are the childrens father/s not contibuting?
  • the goverment suck!

i thought they wanted more people to go out to work?

then help us with our childcare costs!!!!

the more you earn the less help you get, but the childcare costs are very expensive!

but if you only work a few hours and therefore earn less, you get almost all your childcare paid.

it just doesnt make any sense!!!

Fathe'r' contributions in monetry value amount to £5 weekly - contributions in support / assistance / actual time with children = zilch!

Again can I re-iterate - tax credits advice. Although the advice one lady gave above about maximum amounts etc have been very valuable, as have some others to who I've thanked.

biology says it takes 2 people to make a child¬
if both step up and pay their way, there isnt a problem.
if only 1 accepts responsibility then the state is left to be the missing parent.
the way things are right now means that relitavely high earners are rewardd.
in the future you may well be held accountable for the choices you make.
if thats right or wrong, isnt my call.
hopefully the days of the nannybsate are behid us, and people learn to maccdept responsibility for temselves....

Here here to responsibility - but sometimes our situations are not made of our own actions.

Which website are you using to work out your entitlement? If it's the HMRC website you need to remember it will calculate your entitlement from now until the end of the financial year meaning you need to divide the final figure given by the correct number of weeks left for this financial year.

I find entitledto.com is fairly accurate and you dont need to do any calculations yourself as it gives you the weekly figure rather than the total for the remainder of the financial year.

OP - have you modelled it on the entitledto calculator? You may well find that you get assistance with rent/CT if you are paying more in childcare costs.

It's all pretty much swings and roundabouts until you're either earning a fortune or you stop paying childcare.

I'm a single Mum too, it's not easy, but you make the best of it don't you. Good on you for working!

do you think the more you earn the more help you should get? that doesn't make sense.
Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

as someone else mentioned, if you use the hmrc site be wary of the dates it's calculating for, it should only calculate from now until the start of april rather than a whole year
