I am surprised, normally I get more tomatillos than I know what to do with, but they do require their own bit of space to grow properly, about a square metre per plant I reckon.

I was surprised too as I had read many reviews saying the same. Just looked at my garden and they had a 5' x 3' bit to themselves for 2 plants, and then it was my rhubarb leaves so more if you measure root to root.
Maybe they didn't like my clay soil? although over 20 years it's nice stuff now for about 12" or so.
Or where I planted them? they would have had full sun from 11.00 to 4.30 then evening sun from 6.30 (neighbours sycamore tree in the way 9-11to my left and 4.30 to 6.30 to the right) till sun set. I fed them with phostrogen.
If you have any ideas or tips to improve the crop I'm happy to try them again.

I am relieved that I brought mine in after catching up with this thread.

    MrBE, get yerself out there!

    Still no tomatoes sprouting...
    First onion starting to grow!:j
    Not checked the carrots.

Beetroot have really taken well, which is pleasing. Guess what everyone is getting for christmas!:D

I will shortly be planting my next lot of lettuce, tomatoes, and an additional amount of peas.

I am now getting people moaning back at me cos "you moan that nothing has grown every year & it'll come just have a bit of patience...":o

I haven't dug anything yet, although I have done a few other jobs.

I'm trying to decide exactly where it should go. The frog said here:

Does that look about right? Enough room to get round it, close enough to the shed to be able to sort out a rainwater feed, but not so close that I fall in every time I get the mower out.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Your garden looks nice in the sunshine it's so grey and cold here. What are you putting around the edges to hide the liner? Is there enough room at the back for that? Good luck with the digging I would need a pick axe here too with my stony clay.

I have wrapped up my peas again and finally got my 4 solar lights back from DH I cut the wire as they were in a pot with hens now all fixed and back out again.

Waiting patiently for my cucumber seeds to sprout and some more climbing French beans they are old seeds so not many work. Still it's too cold for them to go outside so it doesn't matter.

I have a quince tree in my garden!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow I will have an awful lot more, once the neighbour has chopped the overhanging tree down. Gah.

I keep looking at it. It wants to be about 6" closer to the fence, and 12" closer to the shed, I reckon. :undecided

Is there enough space to safely;) remove and replace fence panels if needed? wouldn't want anyone stepping back and falling in the pond would we, although it would be funny, especially if it was you, and a mate took a picture :D

Other than that it seems to have a bit of shade which is good and no overhanging trees which is great. Think the frog picked a good spot;)

Yes, there's enough space. There should still be enough space if I move it a little nearer the fence, and the shed. That will also give it a little more shade. There is a tree that will fill it with leaves and helicopters - a chuffing great sycamore, but that's two gardens away so not much I can do about it. I'm quite certain the frog knew what he was doing. ;)
