I think your pond is too close to the fence (too late now mbe), as I think you need enough room to take a step backwards just in cas you need purchase for anything.

Nah, it'll be fine! :p I should only need to get in there to paint the fence or lift the panels out, and there's room enough for that. It's not quite too late because I could always put the turf back on, but I'm off out digging in a minute. ;)

My Galina might have had flowers if they hadn't had their heads ripped off instead.
:( I'm rather envious of your chilli flowers though-which variety? My wenks are still really struggling, I have no idea why as my others are flourishing!

Variety unknown! I was given a "pepper" plant last year by my dad, who was given it by my mum's old boss (Mohammed). He is notorious for not labelling things well. The "peppers" it produced were fiddlin' 'n' small:

So I had a munch. "This pepper has a texture more reminiscent of a chilli........ that's hot!".

I saved some seed - they may well not be true to type as I didn't isolate the flowers and I grew a few varieties. I call it "Mohammed's Hot".

Well I'm jealous of both of you, no flowers on my pot bound toms and if my chillies grew any slower they'd being going backwards!
I do have flowers on my over winter one :)

Good luck with the digging hope its a nice at. Lovely and warm in the sun here. Done a bit of weeding unwrapped the pea shoots look ok but cats wan to play with the frame all the time. Forgot to cover the bean I think it's had it will have to sow some more maybe straight in the outdoor pot.

Radish and spring onion sown last week are coming up outside does not seem to have suffered in last nights frost.

John hope you don't drive your wife too much around the twist take it easy won't you.

Tea break. :coffee: Everything going nicely, albeit very slowly. I think I've developed a bit of gardening OCD. :o

    I started digging:

    DSCF3397.jpg

I very quickly filled all my spare recycling tubs with soil. There is nowhere in the garden I can "lose" it at the moment. It could go on the raised beds, but not at this time because they're mostly planted. So, what to do? I need to take the lot to the tip.

 Either that, or fill the tubs with it, use them to grow in this year, then chuck them on the beds next year. After all, it's perfectly good topsoil, which people pay good money for. Seems a shame to throw it out.

I'll just do a tub for parsnips...but I want the stones out first so I'll sieve it:

 Another one of those for carrots would be good. Nah, better make it two. :p

So I've taken the full tubs back to the hole, emptied them back in, and am now in the process of riddling the soil. The nice topsoil I'm going to grow stuff in. The stones are being picked out

    DSCF3396.jpg

as I'll need a sloping pebble shelf so the pond's nice and easy to get in and out of. The rest:

will be going to the tip.

I've had to stop at the moment because the useless flimsy B&Q sieve is falling apart, so I need to take it back and get a replacement. B&Q on Good Friday. :(

Yes, it does a bit, doesn't it?

You put me in mind of an old Giles cartoon:

I have done gardening. Go me.

I have taken down the overhanging tree, which turned out to be the prickliest thing ever. Ouch.

I have planted salad, rocket, spinach and radishes under a cloche. I have planted courgette, squash and mangetout in tubs on the windowsill, along with sweet peas and something else I can't remember.

I have planted my quince tree, decided against a damson, but in favour of blackcurrant and raspberry. Am also going to plant out beetroot, carrots and parsnips tomorrow. It's raining now.

Remember this though folks, if it's anything like last year I'll only manage to grow potatoes again, even though I won't be planting the blasted things.
