Good luck John, hope it all goes smoothly.
Well I woke up to literally 6" of snow this morning. So much for worrying about frost.
The sky is grey and heavy and it looks like we're in for a load more. Aviemore had 19cm apparently.
I was sat in the garden in the sun yesterday and then this today. Only in the UK!
I wonder if my onions and fruits will survive. :undecided
I hope you and your gardens don't suffer the effects too much.Herman - MP for all!0 -

It's still sun here atm and I'm hoping to be able to finish planting my potatoes in the garden this morning, before the deluge starts this afternoon.
The very best to you John, I'm sure it won't be long before you're back showing us all how to do it.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Gost 6" snow WOW lovely and sunny here hope your garden is ok.
Got some pictures of my sprouting brocolli I had to move it from my raised beds when we did the garden so put them in large potato planters instead. Read they dont like moving so have left them there and fed them with the appropriate feed for greens.
My question is are they ever going to give me anything or is it just going to be leaves as I moved them. Cannot remember when I could harvest last year. Please hope you dont mind helping.Save £12k in 25 No 49

I have some maris piper amincrop potatoes which have been chitting on a windowsill in a cool room for 3-4 weeks now. They still only have very small shoots just popping out o fht epotato and haven't really changed at all in the last 2 weeks. Should they have grown more than this? I'm a bit concerned they're not quite right and am wondering whether I should start chitting some more.
Previously I've only ever used supermarket potatoes which have been starting to sprout so I've no real experience of actually properly chitting them! Any help would be much appreciated.0 -

Going under the knife tomorrow so not much gardening for 6weeks now. Got a load done the last few days. Bean sticks are up and beetroot and more carrots under a mesh to stop the birds on the beetroot and the fly on the carrots. Got some Alicante seed on Amateur Gardening this week so put some of those in to try and catch up with my couple of dozen Money Maker and 6 Sweetie seedless. Planted out 20 Little Gems and about half my Alderman peas are up but the germination rate doesn't look too promising. That's about it I think. Oh, and my sweet peppers are about 3" high.
All the best John. Let us know you're recovering ok!
Hopefully there'll be some nice weather you can enjoy whilst sitting in the garden watching the fruits of the past 6 weeks efforts!:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I now have cucumbers sprouting!:j
So, just over 3 weeks in, I have peas (about 50% of what was sown), some beetroot, lettuce & now cucumbers sprouting.
Still nada from the tomatoes.
Carrots & onions only went in a week ago. 2nd carrots batch will be planted later this month.
I'm about due to plant the next batch of toms & lettuce. I've decided to plant another batch of peas too, inspired by the pea-love on here, but also cos I love em & can't wait!
Going to gete everything indoors tonight! Lovely morning, but it felt chilly last night & snow/sleet is forecast...:eek:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Well, at least they're pretty plants? :-)
This is the first year I've grown sprouting broc (as in, won't be harvesting till next year) so I can't say from experience, but my seed packets say they crop up till May so I guess there's still time for yours to do something? They look like they've got new growth on them, at least?I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

Mine are going full bore now, so yours shouldn't be long.
I wouldn't do anymore feeding though.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
