Thanks annie, my daughter will be over the moon if I even plant them, never mind anything actually growing from them. I'll give them a go & report back ;)

As we rapidly approach the thousandth post on this years "Help MBE Grow His Dinner" thread, I'd just like to say that IMHO it's the very best, and most generally informative thread on the Greenfingered forum.

    Thanks MrBE smiley-happy088.gif

Why thank you very much. humble.gif

It is moving rather quickly this year. Only 3 months gone and we're already past half the posts on last year's thread. jaw.gif

I think it's informative because people keep having to explain where I've gone wrong. :D

I originally planned to use this as a record of what I planted and when, but it's grown to big to find anything now. :rotfl:

It is a fantastic motivator though, coz I'm a right lazy oik deep down. So thanks to all the contributors for keeping me moving. :T
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Best wishes mate. Hope all goes smoothly. :)
Oh, and my sweet peppers are about 3" high.

While you're in there, ask the doc if he's got a spare bit of growth hormone knocking about. ;)

I did actually look on my freecycle group last night & nothing doing. However, I do now have a recipient for my red gravel, once it's bagged up

Keep looking, something will turn up. ;)

What's everyone growing this comfrey for?? I googled & it said it's medicinal (this is where I recognised the name from) & can also be used as fertilizer aid.

Chop up the leaves, submerge in a bucket of water until they truly reek & hey presto, tomato fertiliser. ;)

I didn't grown mine, I inherited it along with the bluebells which I so now regret digging up, as they were beautiful and I believe now protected.

The comfrey just appears annually and does have pretty lemon flowers on it, and mingles well with the dandelions and dock leaves...

Hopefully they were Spanish bluebells. ;)
And are you sure that's comfrey? I thought it had purple flowers?

    Oh, and  :D

Hope that worked and as for the bluebells, will wait and see what the neighbours look like as he got some of the ones I dug up.

Growth hormone - grrrrrrrrrrr must have some that knocking around (youngest son is 6ft 5ins and keep getting accused of feeding him the stuff!). Failing that, baby bio? Miracle Grow? Cold black tea?

Nasturtium - now they grow like weeds i.e. so easy to cultivate and really hard to kill. I've tried and the neighbour accused me (opposite neighbour this time from the blue bells) of growing triffids. Well they were the trailing kind and went everywhere. Very pretty though so go for it.

There are all sorts of comfreys - the yellow one I believe is usually called ornamental and not really used for the nutrients - although all comfreys are full of potassium nutrient so you can cut it back, steep the cuttings in water and use the resulting tea on your tomatoes.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
