    I resign with immediate effect.

Not accepted, you've just got British weather blues that's all ;)
I have thought about it. My garden does need more fruit options. So, you've seen the pics - where're they gonna go, eh?:p

You've got plenty of space on the left hand side, which I assume gets less sun as most of your veg are on the right, but the canes would be fine with that.
A neat little row of a few is all that's needed, or I have grown them in tubs, wigwam style that works too but as they have shallow roots you have to keep on top of watering so I prefer in the ground.

Hi Kazire nice to see another MSE from the South weather down here is weird sometimes my inlays live in Denmead they can have snow and we will not have any. Also Butzser Hill seems to stop the worst of the weather.

I don't like tomatoes and we have no greenhouse althoughi would love to grow cucumber but it never seems to work outside.

Yes I know what u mean I used to live in petersfield and get caught in snow but now don't have that problem as of yet

Ok, that might work. But the pond's going to have to go over that side somewhere, although not so close to the fence that I can't paint it when it's time. Perhaps I can squeeze a few in there - how many is a few? I do like the look of those yellow ones, All Gold I think. Are they any good? You know me, I like growing things that don't conform. :p

Would 5 be enough? 10? How much space do they need?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Get autumn ones and you can cut them completely down at the end of the year, so you can paint your fence.
5 would do a single person I should think, 10 will give you alot for the freezer as well, an awful lot if it's a good year and they are good raspberries.

Not grown any yellow ones, but I'd recommend Joan J for red ones, brilliant raspberry.

They don't take up much space and only need a narrow bed.

 I could probably squeeze three in on the sunny side, where I grew the sunflowers last year. I'd find room for the other two somewhere.

Most of the sites I'm looking at sell them in 5s, which is a bit of a shame, as it would be nice to get a little mixture. I'll have to check out some of the local garden centres. :)

They don't care, it's just the holes that have to be the right sizes.

Won't the sap that's still in the wood make the holes sticky? I thought bees might not like that.
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?

It says old logs in the link. If it was me I'd drill the holes and try it. If it doesn't work this year, it'll be an old log next year...

I suppose it would depend on when the tree was cut down and how sappy that particular type of wood was.
Some sappy softwoods, you may have a problem with if cut down in spring, maybe at other times as well, hardwoods I wouldn't worry about.
Not something I've ever thought about tbh.
