supermarket watercress roots in a glass of water, that's how I keep mine fresh in the kitchen, and spring onions keep weeks if needed too, just change the water every few days.0

Nice to have you back annie, glad you had a nice time.
I'm a bit sad today. I've just found out my uncle Sid is really quite ill, and has had to give up his allotment. It's a real shame; he's only 94.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Sorry he's not well MBE, is he the one who lives near your parents? that's a fine age to get to and still be working an allotment.0

No, he lives in Widnes. I think. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Had a few hours in the garden yesterday as it was clear blue skies and dry for a change.
More leaves from the nasty sycamore bagged up, dug up and potted up the redcurrant bush, which now I can see the shape easier, I realise I could have pruned it better, rhubarb still producing leaves, thornless blackberry still producing berries but the last week they've started to go mouldy before being ripe. The 50p rose I bought still in flower so are several of the annuals.
Don't think the leeks liked being dug up by the squirrels/cats and replanted several times, they've hardly grown over the last few months, may have to treat as spring onions
Peach tree and twisted willow still have their leaves which is unusual for the time of year here and the chillis are turning red, good crop by all accounts this year considering the crap start they had.0 -

Sorry, I'll get me coat."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."
