Been looking at slug pellets, just a bit confused how to use them. I have most of my plants in a mini greenhouse so they have a mesh sort of shelving. I'm assuming I can't put the pellets directly in the soil of the plants. Any ideas?
Just sprinkle a few (e.g. about 4!) round each plant, on the soil.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Woohoo I have flowers coming on one of my strawberry runners :j Looks like I might get at least a couple of home-grown strawberries this year
mbe, don't worry, I got your joke & thought it was funny!! :rotfl:'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Hurrah finally had some sunshine down here and I got to mow the lawn at last. It's re covered well from the major landscaping and that rain has been useful for something.
Got lots coming up, potatoes nicely coming up even the last lot I did about 3 weeks ago.
Peas and sugar snaps have flowers on them and I have a new lot of climbing beans finally ready to go outside in a few weeks.
Cucumber looks lovely (well two of them do) note to self do not harden off too soon.
Spinach coming up nicely so is the lettuce think I shall be able to harvest very soon.
Herbs shooting up will make some garlic butter and freeze it it's so nice to cut a frozen slice when you need it. I love tarragon butter on my steak aka Beefeater.
Sorry missed the joke MBE but your pond is taking shape good luck with the stone work.
Off up north tomorrow flying to Leeds so will expect some friendly Northern hospitality but it may be cold.Save £12k in 25 No 49

My neighbour has just bought my toms in for me, and 2 of them don't look happy, think it's been too cold for them over the last couple of hours.
They really are softy southerners this year, probably because they have been harden on and off for 3 weeks, they're all confused poor things. I've never had toms indoors this long.
The 2 runts still look ok so I asked her to snuggle them up with a fleece again for the night.
Wonder if I can rig up a make shift mini greenhouse with some thick polythene I have. Will need a bit of a regig but to get them out in bigger pots it might be worth it.0 -
I left my toms & peppers in the greenhouse last night - only got to about 8°C so not too bad. Chancing it again tonight but supposed to be colder still - maybe about 4°C. Then they all come in again because I'm away Thursday-Sunday, so they'll have to stay inside all that time as we've more frost forecast.
Same deal as you Annie - can't get them hardened off, can't get them into full sized pots, can't even leave them in the greenhouse full time. Really is messing me (and them) about. :wall:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
My Toms are in Llidl buckets in a cold G/House and just get a bit of bubble wrap draped over at night and they are surviving OK. Peppers get a bit more cover and a bit of heat if frost is forecast. Runner beans are as usual in 3" pots, about10" high now and only covered with the Toms.0

I want to leave mine out but forecast for -1°C this Sunday morning, and similar most of the weekend. After that they're going out regardless. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
My toms have been fine in the greenhouse with no other protection for a while now, but I think it's a lot milder down here!I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)
