Oh I'm a little excited! I have the beginnings of a chilli on my chilli plant! My red duke of York potatoes are growing fast, rocket ones are doing ok but Wilja are slow, although I think they're coping.
Quite a few sprouts in my carrots nowstrawbs are doing well, huge leaves! But I'm worried because I read somewhere that I should somehow be seperating the "runners" from the main plant? Oh and had to repot my garlic, wish I'd planted more than one clove now I know it's actually growing
All in all, not bad.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
If anyone offers you free railway sleepers, just say NO, unless you're a weight lifter.
Neither hubby or I can move today and we, I say we, it was him mainly, managed to get 2 5'x 2' x 4" solid hardwood ones, had to leave the 8' ones and other shorter bits.
These could turn out to be very expensive as hubby is self employed, no work=no pay.
They made it to the front garden this morning and that's where they're staying:D
no chance down the side of the building, down 3 steps, past neighbours garden entrance, sharp right turn into ours, then to the bottom of the garden where he was gong to build the shed. He wanted to build one all from free/scrap stuff and thought these would make a solid base. They're so solid you could park a train on them, which is a bit OTT!
He'll just have to settle for paving slabs like anyone else. They fit on a trolley or wheelbarrow and you can make up little 20kg piles.
Even the muscles in my arms feel like they're going to go, very odd feeling and I only moved one of them a foot off the path to the bed.
Having looked with my binoculars out the window, the tomatoes that I left all night seem fine, so having caught my neighbours attention by shouting at her out the window......she's a good friend;) she has uncovered them and taken my others outside too.
Today I will be mainly reading about gardening, if I can get a comfy position to sit in.0 -

Yaay, did you sow them indoors?? outdoors?? in greenhouse??
I should get some really as I love roasted parsnips :drool:All in all, not bad.
Not bad at all, very jealous of the chilli, mine are only just germinating so a loooong way off growing an actual chilli!!If anyone offers you free railway sleepers, just say NO, unless you're a weight lifter..
Haha, I was hoping to buy a couple for the front garden & was concerned about someone coming along & pinching them ~ maybe I don't need to be worried after all!! :rotfl:Having looked with my binoculars out the window, the tomatoes that I left all night seem fine
:rotfl::rotfl: That has to be worse than me inspecting my pots with a magnifying glass to see if anything is poking through!! :rotfl::rotfl:
Hope you & hubby recover soon.
I bought another 40L bag of multi-purpose today & really struggled getting it in & out of the trolley & then in & out of the car ~ it occurred to me that I'd be rubbish at disposing of a body!!
Lovely sunny day today so I've cut the [STRIKE]dandelions[/STRIKE] grass & done some weeding. Still have to do the repotting but didn't want to be stuck in my potting garage on such a nice day, seeing as they've been such a rarity lately.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -

Goodness me I forgot to say I got my free 'Which? Grow your own vegetables' guide today :j
It's got a Month-by-month veg planner which I think is going to be really useful for me'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Been looking at slug pellets, just a bit confused how to use them. I have most of my plants in a mini greenhouse so they have a mesh sort of shelving. I'm assuming I can't put the pellets directly in the soil of the plants. Any ideas?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

They have been sitting on the pavement in broad daylight since Friday morning, only due to work couldn't get there till this morning. And this is London if they were going to be pinched they would have gone in a few hours!

I thought of you doing that when I picked them up:D I can also see 2 green cherries:j and I can see the scapes need nipping out of the garlic, might try and get down stairs to the garden, the big yellow thing is trying hard but the nasty clouds keep coming.
I keep looking at my root trainers for signs of life but as they were only planted 24 hours ago I'm pushing it, need to find something I can do, like rearrange seed packets again!0 -
I've got a number of pots with bare soil! Hurumph!
See you all in 4 weeks when I have something to talk about & which will also mean I don't look at every post with envy...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
