I must admit I could do with putting all my flowering chillies and peppers into full size pots, but then I won't be able to keep carting them to the greenhouse and back. :(

You're just showing off now, :p chillies sown this year with flowers on already and a greenhouse!
Those of us with out greenhouses (or a garden big enough to put one in) have plants stuck in pots too small now because if I potted them on to bigger pots they won't fit indoors and would take to so**ing long to bring them all in and out during the day assuming they don't mind tropical downpours.

Can someone please turn the rain tap off here.......I don't mind a hosepipe ban as I don't have one but to have one and non stop rain is starting to miff me, can you tell!

So, could marigolds go outside yet?

Annie I asked about the flower pots for you in my local Morrisons today to get an idea of whether it's a London thing or not and they said no. However, I wasn't totally convinced and I think I might try again and see if I can get a manager next time.

Yep marigolds can go outside, and thank you so much for testing your area.........I'm off to try Lidls now.

In good news, (well for me anyway!) my batch of sowing on Saturday is showing signs of life, one cucumber, one sweet pea and one courgette so far :jVery pleased about the sweet pea as I love them and the first lot all failed.

That's really quick ~ did you sow them all indoors?? I've definitely got one sweet pea coming, but it's taken well over a week.

I got some autumn fruiting ones from ideal world last year, only 2 survived out of 15 canes, so mine worked out at £7 pound each

That's really bad, I hope you complained :( I think the one I missed out on in Aldi was £2.99?? & looked like a proper plant (albeit a dead one to me at the time :o). The £5 one in Wilkinson's was just one stick.

Another rainy day here, although we did have some sun earlier :j

I think I may have another sweet pea coming, hard to tell for sure as I have a sticky eye today so may be seeing things!! :rotfl: Nothing else happening as far as I can see :p

Today I'm going to sow the chilli seeds I bought yesterday & possibly another couple of peppers. It will mean commandeering another windowsill though

I'm a happy chappy today. Rain stayed off long enough to sort out the garage and I now have one side with black plastic Keter 'garden' shelves.

Each shelf has a black plastic 'Really Useful' box on it so I have sorted out all my seeds, little pots, fleeces, and all the other garden bits and bobs that makes the place look really untidy.

I also have one of those mini greenhouse jobs that lost it's cover when we moved, so it's now a large plant pot shelf unit.

Everything now has a home and it's all labelled so I know where it all is when I want it.

Just a shame the poor weather means I can't really make use of any of it right now. :(

    Mine was from Aldi.

It's a really healthy looking thing as was all the plants they had on sale.

I was quite impressed by their offerings tbh.

I know, I'm kicking myself now, but at the time I didn't know that raspberry plants were supposed to look dead :o

Re. the capillary matting ~ I saw some yesterday for £4.99, is that about the price you would pay?? I think there were 2 sheets in the pack. Also, probably a daft question, but can you cut them to size?? I think I need to get some as I'm worried I'm drowning some of my seeds.

    A little update:

I now have one basil starting to come up :j
Another mint is popping up :j
It looks like I'm getting proper leaves on one of my marigolds :j
I think I was seeing things earlier ~ now pretty sure there's only one sweet pea still :(

    Confession:

I've asked my DH to borrow a magnifying glass from work so that I can really peer into my pots to see if there's anything sprouting ~ is that really sad?? :o

I bought mine off the roll at the garden centre. Can't remember how much it was per metre, sorry.

Yes you can cut it to size.

No, that's normal isn't it? even after all these years I still find myself peering into trays/pots every few hours, when I can, to see if there's any sign of life yet.

Went back to sainsburys and found man in suit (department manager) and pushed about flower buckets. Got told over the next few weeks they are switching to permanent square display buckets with flowers arriving in cardboard boxes and so no Madam couldn't have any.

Lidl only get a delivery twice a week and send theirs off to larger store where they are collected apparently.

Even tried my Tesco local who have 3 little black buckets just waiting for me to plant in and got told theirs come in cardboard boxes.

I sense a theme here in London and here by give up my quest for black flower buckets unless anyone knows anyone else who lives in south east london and can point me to a shop they know will sell them to me!

No, not flowers. Not any more:

    Now that's showing off. :p
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
