It does say Midlands though, not down as far as the Cotswolds. Must be someone up there grieving for poor old "Wolves".

Should've said - came down to the cotswolds a few weeks ago (Broadway). Jeez - someone said it is amazing how much you can see!
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Do you not have a Morrisons near you? They do have them in London, not many and not that near, but it was worth my while travelling the 5 miles or so to get 18 last year.

No, no Morrisons. If I drove 5 miles here it would take me an hour each way, if I got a bus it would take 3 changes and 2 hours each way! and by time I'd paid out petrol/bus fair 99p wouldn't be a bargain.

Sainsburys admitted after I got pushy that all the buckets go to staff at present.......It's one of the biggest stores in the UK there are a lot of staff! suggested I try June.which I will:D

Didn't get to Lidl..hail stones hammering down and was already soggy, so will try tomorrow.

Co-op get flowers delivered in boxes and place in the same buckets each day.

Did ask hubby to try the one near his work but he refused, said he'd rather buy more pots! or can't I grow less:eek:
He used to be embarrassed by me dumpster diving till I found a matching window for our bathroom after I spotted double glazing going in up the road :D

That's another one of MBEs rules broken. No barefaced lies in this thread.

In my defense I have grown stuff indoors......

Heck. Feel like I need to do penance or something.

Well I've just spent the last hour or so clearing out anything that isn't alive, from our porch.

The porch is now my greenhouse. I have more shelves in there now and I've just sorted through the plants, repotted some and been ruthless with some of the others. Yes, I actually binned some that looked straggly and a bit unhealthy.

I think I may need to put a small heater in there for the really cold nights but they will have to stay there no matter what as I just dont have space anywhere.

Question.....I want to use some clear plastic pint pots as individual cloches on the cold nights but they're not too wide and the leaves and tom plant branches are against the sides....will it matter? I'm not sure if they are best not touching the cloche so the cold doesn't get transferred iyswim?

Edit: Never mind...I've just found out the plant shouldn't touch the cloche at all.

I must admit I could do with putting all my flowering chillies and peppers into full size pots, but then I won't be able to keep carting them to the greenhouse and back. :(
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I can't remember where I got my online raspberries from, but most places I thought would be fine.
I've got Joan J, a brilliant raspberry to have. But an autumn one, if you have the space, you might want to think about a summer one as well.

I've decided to have one last trawl of the garden centres in the next couple of days & if I can't find any I'll order one online. I did look at T&M website but their Joan J's are for delivery in September now.

I'm not sure I can have a summer one as I'm growing in pots?? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
    Poundland. ;)

Tried and failed. They told me mbe had taken the last one!! :p

I have another teeny mint shoot coming & I think there's the beginnings of a sweetpea!! :j

Well, it's raining again. Are we getting the winters rain over the last few days? Did the weather know that we had just got our garden to the point where there were no huge jobs left?

I too am trying my best to keep up with the sowing and potting on - but I've no room left!
So, could marigolds go outside yet? I know it's very wet though. The ones that aren't potted on are getting very leggy, can I bury marigolds the way I now know to do with my tomatoes when I pot them on?

In good news, (well for me anyway!) my batch of sowing on Saturday is showing signs of life, one cucumber, one sweet pea and one courgette so far :jVery pleased about the sweet pea as I love them and the first lot all failed.

Annie I asked about the flower pots for you in my local Morrisons today to get an idea of whether it's a London thing or not and they said no. However, I wasn't totally convinced and I think I might try again and see if I can get a manager next time.

Had a half term update from DD1's teacher today, their science project is plants, to be able to name some common flowers and to understand they need water and light to grow. errrm don't think she's going to struggle :rotfl:. Their first experiment today was to plant broad beans which they'll be able to bring home when they're bigger...great, more beans:eek:. she asked me today if we could repot the sunflowers because they need more room, she's right but it was cold and wet and I was feeling mard:o.

ALL my plants and seedlings are outside. I don't have a greenhouse and very little windowsill space.everything has been sown in pots and trays in the back garden. marigolds are up, same with the kale, and all the other brassicas, carrots, lettuce, radish and toms. all the squashes have germinated (had a very naughty rummage in the pots) and the cucs and gherkins are just starting to move the soil.
luckily, despite being in cold/wet manc, our garden is very sheltered and if there is any sun it gets it all. we also seem to get away with frosts out there, so keeping fingers crossed.

I'm hoping all this rain will have given my water butts a boost as the water at the lotty isn't on yet due to a leak.

i could really do with a break in the rain this weekend to get more weeds cleared ready for planting.
right now though, i'd best get to bed. work in the morning.

    night all x

Is £5 too dear for a raspberry cane?? I thought it was so didn't buy it. It's the only cane I've seen (apart from the one I thought was dead in Aldi :o) so am I too late for this year do you think?? I don't really want to order one online.

I got some autumn fruiting ones from ideal world last year, only 2 survived out of 15 canes, so mine worked out at £7 pound each

After much thought & consideration I've decided that the forecasters will probably be wrong. They usually are...
On our local weather last night the forecaster talked about this and said you may have read some people forecasting the coldest May for years.

He said, they might be right and they might be wrong, no one knows, it's way to far in advance to forecast.

    Exactly as I thought :D
