I'm sure something like rosemary could be taken from cuttings?
It certainly can. I have grown rosemary from seed and from cuttings. With the cuttings, i find it best to snip of a branch, say 6 inches or so, then strip a good couple of inches of the lower leaves, dip it in hormone rooting gel or powder if you have any. Plant in a smallish pot and cover with a plastic bag or propogator lid. Check on it ever few days. If it doesn't look dead after a week or so, well done you, the cutting took!
@mrbadex, pond is looking really good, you really cracked on with that didn't you! I'm sure you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it when it's all done and all manner of creatures inhabit and explore it.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

P.s. lillyjune, i don't know if you live near me or if not, how well rosemary cuttings travel via royal mail, but i'd be happy to send you cuttings if you don't have access to any.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Thanks. Yes, I'm pleased with the progress as I only started it on Maundy Thursday, so less than a fortnight. The weather was mostly kind. Still loads to do though - I need plants, and I need to tidy up the liner and get it anchored in some way so it looks a bit neater. I also need to let it stand for at least a week, as I had to fill it with tap water. Twice. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I've got a few cuttings on the go at the moment, although I didn't have any rooting hormone. Fingers crossed they'll take.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Well I had to let the allotment fall through unfortunately, so I'm back to getting every space in the garden rescued from the nettles and made into beds.
Oh well, at least it's all in one place.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

That's a shame, sorry it didn't work out as you'd expected/hoped.Herman - MP for all!0 -
How can i be so far behind:eek: we've only had easter. Read to page 57 and will catch up later. Got nowt done cos of the weather, fed up cos not even my grass seed has grown. Bought expensive stuff from the garden nursery, good quality for shady north facing garden and nowt has grown except dandelions:mad:. What makes it worse is i then found the exact seed at a third of the price at homebargains
So any ideas which seed to buy please.
MBE your dad's garden looks fab and reminds me of Mr Hamiltons cottage kitchen garden. Hoping for some better weather next week now the kids are back at school. Right off to get my cakes out of the oven and will catch up tonight.Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

I'm bored and impatient.
Been wet and miserable most of the day. Matches my mood really.
Fed up waiting to plant things outside and can't do much more inside as I have absolutely no space left.
However.......I found a windowsill prop and some of those coir pellets tucked away in the garage so I amused myself by sowing more spinach seed.
It took all of 5 minutes and I'm bored again........
