Couple of Questions, are Woodlouse good in the garden? I weeded a square foot area of my border and there must of been about 50 of them in various sizes.

Do Leeks grow up or down? I'm hoping up.

I also found a large 2inch bright red caccoon thing in the border,I picked it out and shoved it with the weeds any ideas if it's a good bugy thing or a bad one.

Woodlice are good. Think nature's garbage disposal team.

    Leeks grow up.

Don't know what the cocoon is.

Wood lice ate more or less a whole raised bed of mine in 3 years. Wood was treated prior to going in so I was not so keen on them. Still nature is nature.

Well done MBE, looks great and bigger than I thought it would be :j
Bit of a mammoth weekend for us here garden wise. Lets see: OH and my dad fitted a pigeon shield to the chimney, covers to the water butts and a new step to my potting shed.
Me and my mum turned and sorted the composte out of the dalek (hard work but got some lovely compost!), planted beetroot, spring onions and spinach yesterday. Then today I've potted toms on (into grow pots but they're tricky to manouver and I lost one :(), rejuvinated an ivy screen (hopefully), planted strawberries in a hanging basket, sowed poppies, osteopernums, sweet peas, marigolds (more and done outside, cosmos, nicotinata (all more of what I did a few weeks ago too). And more mange tout, peas, french beans, carrots. earthed up the potatoes (about 6 coming through) and weeded the veg patch. I actually think we did more and I can't remember.

    Some pics for you:
    Veg patch looking quite good

    Greenhouse-wonky angle!

Oh yeah I tidied my potting shed up

Very neat looking potting shed there Fay - i like it!

Its something i should do more regular than i do - still looks a mess from back end of last season when i would quickly put used plastic pots wherever i can find a space for them

I have done gardening. Go me.

I have taken down the overhanging tree, which turned out to be the prickliest thing ever. Ouch.

I have planted salad, rocket, spinach and radishes under a cloche. I have planted courgette, squash and mangetout in tubs on the windowsill, along with sweet peas and something else I can't remember.

I have planted my quince tree, decided against a damson, but in favour of blackcurrant and raspberry. Am also going to plant out beetroot, carrots and parsnips tomorrow. It's raining now.

Remember this though folks, if it's anything like last year I'll only manage to grow potatoes again, even though I won't be planting the blasted things.

    mg == mangetout?
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?

Well I finally managed to clear out two large beds of weeds and almost filled my smaller brown recycling bin.

Found some onions that I'd forgotten about and the look ok, can I still use them? The aroma was lovely when weeding round them. Am I wierd?

Oh and where do all the blooming stones come from when you weed. You know you've removed them last time round. Could they be my Vicks spuds?

Not planted anything yet :o but still got a bit of digging to do but hopefully later on in the week if the weather holds.

Oh and does anyone need / want comfrey? Mine has been breeding behind my back. It's the onewith the yellow flowers if you fancy a mixture.

Finally well done everyone, I'm very impressed with what you've done and can't wait to see the finished pond mbe. :)

Thanks Gazza, it badly needed doing. Perhaps I should have done a before picture too! It helps that a lot of things are now moving out of the potting shed and into the greenhouse or windowsills in the house-no doubt it will be a mess again by the end of summer! The pot collection is quite vast but there were lots left in the shed when we moved in and then my husbands aunt sold her greenhouse and gave us all of her pots and other bits and bobs. Certainly comes in handy though-although there are still times when I need certain sizes and have run out. There are also lots of flower buckets in the corner behind the potting bench...and more in the garage
