Do you remember what you were hoping would come up that hasn't?

Nope. Am just hoping they don't turn into potatoes.

(I'll have a rummage through seed packets and see if I can work it out).

I'd stop worrying. Unless they are tiny and you have put them about a foot down they should be fine.

Even if they don't germinate this year, if you use the compost elsewhere they will come up eventually :D

You're right. I've decided to chill out a bit & just let things get on with it, or not as the case may be :D

happy today, lots of leeks have come through, sunbaby yellow toms finally come through. the purple carrots seem to have only a 50% germination rate though :(

righto, off to get me and the squids dressed to get all the jobs done that i should have done yesterday!

Too late for the Dolmio tomato seeds :(

  • Posting whilst catching up on the thread after being too busy to read (still got several pages to go):

Joining the club of those who're already eating from their garden, I've already had loads of leaves from the overwintered chard (it's amazing; I was planning to plant other stuff there soon, but the chard is still going absolutely mad!) and a couple of spring cabbages that were starting to bolt – probably too dry – so I figured we'd better eat them up. The other five are doing really nicely now we've had some decent rain though.

My nasturtiums are growing like crazy. I only sowed them six weeks ago and they're *huge*. Have started hardening them off because they need to be planted out at the very earliest opportunity!

One of my sweetcorn seedlings was eaten last night, apparently by a snail or slug, judging by the silver trail. This, on an indoor windowsill! Grrr. Think I might have to sow a few more as two didn't germinate and I don't think five is quite enough.

I need to sow a lot of other things too but indoor sowing is being hampered by the fact that my new little pots and trays (I've used most of the old ones) haven't arrived yet, and outdoor sowing by the need to weed the beds first. First the ground was too hard, then it kept raining… and now it's just right! Did short stints of mega weeding the last two mornings (can't do it for too long or it kills my back) and hope to finish that today. Then I need to go through my notes and figure out what I'm sowing where… Sowing will probably have to wait until Thurs/Fri when I'm next at home, if it's not too rainy.

Will try and take some pics later once it's all tidied up!

Ooh, must get round to sowing second tub of carrots on the balcony too.

Managed to get the pond close to being dug yesterday:

I just need to make it a bit deeper at the end near the shed. About another 3" should do it.

I can't help thinking that because I've made it a silly shape, it'll be really difficult to line. :undecided
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

My broad beans have been started indoors and now need to be planted. How long should I harden them off before planting them out?

I don't know because I don't grow broad beans, but I think a week should do it. :)

You're going to have a toad bottleneck traffic jam with that wee skinny bit in the middle. :D

Need to invest in a couple of 'give way' signs. :D

It's a good place to start. I always recommend saving the empty packets somewhere for this very reason.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Finally here are my indoor lots, freebie Geraniums in the background, mini sunflower, Marigolds, parsley and Basil. The leggy two leaf things are Cucumber already had one colapse and die.
