Yeh ive tried plenty of fish - nothing but freaks and weirdo's on there! Ive tried match both as a free member and a paid member and again sent loads of messages and nothing in reply, so thought this one would be my last attempt and then im giving up lol

Have you thought about Eharmony? Is match fairly expensive to join as a paid member, if you don't mind me asking...

I tried that on an open weekend they had where you could join for free..spent an obsene amount of time filling it all in and then found there was no matches for me!:mad:

Match is £29.99 per month and they dont have a monthly direct debit feature either to make it cheaper which is rubbish

wow, that's a lot to pay out every month considering you might not get anything back from it at all.

The other option is an actual introduction agency, they charge a bit more than the online dating sites but most of them guarantee to actually match you up with people and put you in direct contact with people who they think you'll be compatible with. When you look at how much you can spend in two or three months on paid websites I don't think it's that bad a deal really.

Nah im really not interested in that...im giving this site a go and if nothing comes from it then its just not meant to be lol

I'm not sure about the rest of you (and it could be paranoia on my part) but I swear since I've turned the big 4-0 last April that the level of interest dwindles on your profile? I look younger than my years (not being big headed, just get told that a lot, good genes from my granny) but I honestly think the number affects how people see you?

I read somewhere that after 40 you have more chance of being struck by lightning than meeting a decent man?!

Not much hope for me then at 50! I have been reading this thread as a friend persuaded me to join Friends reunited dating. She found her husband on there when she was 60 though, so perhaps there is hope for me!

I used to work for an introduction agency, they charged on average £450 a year plus more for actual matches! I don't actually remember more than a couple of success stories. I've met a few people from dating sites over the years, but it's easy to become completely despondent with it and just give up. My mother worries about me growing old alone, but what can you do?!

I met my current girlfriend of 8 months on plenty of fish and i see her as a keeper,but oh before that nutters i could tell some stories .suppose you get what you pay for

i use to have a tongue in cheek tally on my profile of how much mail i sent and how many replied that was popular for me i got messages
and i made up a funny headline of rubbish sex and cuddles anyone on my profile i tried to make it honest and funny

i found match.com a rip off tried smooch not enough woman in area compared to guys and i would have picked some of them over me
