Morning all, have settled up my purses this morning and a spare £1.68 to third purse (I keep my 2nd purse at £30 which I find is usually enough). Lots of stock so really pleased with how this is going. I do have to keep a sharp eye out though- when the shop first started oh was good at letting me know what had been taken, but there are ocassional glitches in his memory - and I suddenly think "is that a new toothpaste out" etc!! Good luck to everyone with their systems and oh's!!!
I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

I can so empathise with this! I bought 6 boxes of cereal on Saturday for my 2 DSs and we are already onto the 2nd box - without them telling me. Plus I've now hidden all the chocolate as DS1 who is 13 keeps sneaking it up to his bedroom and I keep finding evidence. It winds me up no end! Not that he's not allowed to have it, just the cheek of helping himself.

On a similar note, I bought a pack of 8 cheese portions for packed lunches this week. Went to the fridge this morning and theres only 3 left. I know I've used two for DS2 and DDs packed lunches so where are the rest? Cue a crabby phone call to DS1 on his school coach to bawl him out for stealing the cheese!!!!! Mr Nobody again

Just want to say this, I had a system this week just gone that has worked so well and need help.. We went on Holiday and I divided our spending money into cash bags, labelled by the day and amount I thought we would need each day and it worked great. At the end of each day what I had left I left in the cash bag and each day I used the new cash bag with the day on it was.. Like Tues on Tues etc. By the end of the week we had a total of 54 pounds that had accumulated throughout the week..
So I told my husband I would be able to manage to do the 2nd purse system as I had managed a 5 day holiday and saved what we didnt spend. MY dh still says its a stupid system and I wont be able to manage it..
But I reckon I can. Having a daily amount has helped me loads as I knew what I had was for that day and I didnt need to worry about the next day as it was waitng for me in a bag with day of week on..

I have a budget for shopping of about 600 a month but have swimming lessons and SW to take out.
So how can I use the same system or similar to work for me. And do you all understand what I am saying and how can I prove him wrong? Anne x

Didnt want to read and run, but only have time to say OF COURSE you can do this!! And we will all be here to try and help you along the way :T:T:T

If it were me, I would be inclined to not mention it to DH and just get started on your own for a month or two (unless that wont work in your circumstances).

Why not try starting in a very small way?

Pop £10 (or £20 or whatever you can spare) in a bag/envelope/purse - thats your Second Purse.

When you spot an offer, pay for it out of your SP (pref someting you use often) and stick the bargain in your cupboard (or secret place :rotfl:).

When you need the product to use, decide what you will pay - the full value, the same as you bought it, a wee bit more than you paid - you decide.

Then you can put the money you pay into SP to bring it back up to its original level OR you can pay SP what you paid the shop, and slip a bit of profit into a different bag/purse/whatever and then that becomes your 3rd Purse.

You can definitely do this and show your OH!! :D

Hope this makes sense, I am rushing :o

Hi all I've been away but caught up now :)
Had a real bargain today - Dr told me to take 25mg vitamin D every day so looked in Boots. They had 25mg but also 12.5mg that worked out cheaper to take 2 of them (OH noticed that, I'm training him :D) then they had 3 for 2 on vitamins so got 3 lots of 90 tablets for £4. Then realised I had enough points on my advantage card to pay for them so they were free! :j
I like that kind of shopping :)
Welcome to any newbies - and Annie 99 I'm sure you can do it :)

Forgot to say, I used a big DR box like jakes-mum suggested, filled it with compost and put spinach seeds in. Covered it with twigs from the tree that's always dropping bits in my garden, to keep the cats off, and now eagerly waiting for baby spinach leaves for my butties :)

Hi fellow second-pursers

Been away since Friday with no internet access  but I coped....just......

Anyhoo just wanted to check back in to say Hi to Anne - please feel free to ask lots of questions and do let us know if you spot a bargain! We all love bargains!!

Have just under my £50 imposed 2nd purse limit and not planning on spending any of it this week as I'm busy with 2 x sports days, an all day trip to the Science Museum and a Cub camp to pack for - does life get any better than this...don't answer that...

Will settle up with 2nd purse on Friday (from my grocery budget) and then add my next £20 - will mean I transfer money over to 3rd purse straightaway but that's all good :D

Also the 'cheese thief' has gone to ground, but I'm not taking any chances - the chocolate stash hideout changes daily and I bought some C@dbury goodies at an outlet mall over the weekend, which are handed out by me and me only. That'll teach 'em :rotfl:

Hi. I'm really trying hard to save extra money each month to pay off my debts and would like to give this a go. Would be great if you could give me some tips. I have three young girls, and feel like no matter how hard I try therre is never any money left over at the end of the month, so I am going to try really hard.
