Just bought 750g D*vidstow cheddar for £4.29 in Mr MS, just checked out on mysuper and it comes up as £7.75 for 700g, I might go back tomorrow and get some more in that case
can always freeze it
I know I could get 700g c city for £3.98 in mr T, but I think this works out slightly better as the quality is bettermmmm cheese on toast!
I also picked up an engagement card for 25p (for whenever I next need one) and a mothers day card for £1Nowhere had my yoghurt on offer as mysuper has it wrong *huff*
I did just storm round all the shops huffing at the prices and refusing to spend my penniesprogress.

Thank you for the baby info :T
We can't tempt you to give 2nd pursing a go
Sorry but it's not quite for me. I do kind of have my own version though that suits me well enough.
I used to always spend around £300 a month but already I've got that down to less than £200 so I'm saving £100 every month right there which I transfer into a savings account by standing order.
The main changes that I made to achieve this were switching to buying loose fruit/veg and getting the ingredients to make lunches rather than buy sandwiches every day. Also I pretty much visit an Asda or Tesco every day so I no longer need to do a main shop which I think was resulting in a lot of waste as I sometimes didn't get through everything before it spoiled. I also now use coupons and look out for whoopsies where possible!
Once I had gotten my monthly spend consistently under £200 I decided to make another change. I now top up an Asda and a Tesco store card to £100 each at the end of the month and I only ever use these, not cash. If a card still has (say) £40 on it at the end of the month then I top up with £60 and put the £40 straight into a savings account. This means I still have the same disposable income as I did before making all these changes. Its just that instead of spending £300 on food I found a way to split the £300 between food/savings
My absolute total food spend in February was just £99 (that covered all meals and snacks for me, my wife and our baby plus we had people over for dinner a coupe of times) and by the end of the month my cupboards/fridge and freezer were still fully stocked.
So at the end of Feb I had my standing order of £100 transfer into my savings and then because I only had to top up my store cards by £99 I was able to put another £101 into savings.
I find that using the store cards makes it really easy to keep track of what I spend, plus it means I dont have to take out cash so often (if I ever have change in my pocket I always seem to fritter it away somehow)
But I'm just lucky that when I am at home I can walk to Tesco Express in 2 minutes and Asda in 10 minutes. And when I am at work I have an Asda just 15 minutes walk away and I drive by a Tesco Extra on my commute. Not everyone is so fortunate on that frontApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

Hey all! I've been MIA (visiting family, multiple hospital appointments, work dramas... you name it, it's happening down here) but I'm back now!
I agree with what you all say, it is great to have a circle of friends like this as none of my RL friends get why I do this at all, even when they can see the results for themselves!
Not many purchases to report but we're living very nicely out of Scrabbles Stores, trying our first DR steak tonight - the mince was brilliant so I'm really looking forwards to itI did go to Mr T today, I had some of the vouchers from the leaflet that someone on here mentioned - I use £1 off vouchers for frozen food, cheese and yoghurts to stock up, then put the voucher money straight into my savings. We might actually have to take money for our 'third purse' sooner than anticipated but c'est la vie.

Has anyone tried their chicken breasts?
I'm going to call my sister and find out how much she buys her breasts for(oh that's funny as she has fake ones hahaha must stop laughing at own jokes *cough*uh hmm*) but would be helpful to have inside information so I can convince her to give me £4.50 a week and she gets tasty breast delivered to her door.

I started puting the money the SM's used to get into an ISA, ( see earlier posts today )as you watch the savings grow it really hits home when you realise how much control the SM's have over us.
Thanks for the recipies elizabunny, did anyone see the hairy bikers make the strawberry and black pepper scones? i might try them . Next time I get strawberries.
I'm still having probs with posting , its easier to edit a post .
Thanks Mothership - I'm definitely going to make one to replace the ripped one - it's just that the two I was thinking of mending I'm quite attached to (not literally :rotfl:) as I really like them so I think I'll try and mend them first and then if that doesn't work, I'll make new ones.
About the instructions, I'm thinking cut two (measured) squares, attach 3 sides on the inside of the material and then attach zip to the 'free' side. Does this sound about right? I have a sewing machine somewhere as I have made curtains in the past so I don't suppose it'll take too long to do. Just hunting down the material will take a long time as I'm very fussy and want to be MSE. Thanks for your help :j.
