*sigh* I find it really difficult to shop on £20 a week for just one person, I think it's easier when there's more of you as you can spread the cost. I bought £20 of veg today from r1verford, although split the cost with my HM but even then that leaves me with £2.50 for anything non-veg :eek:Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Well I have £42ish left of my grocery purse until payday which is 12 days away, so it's going to be tight.
I'm experimenting next month with a new method for the grocery purse.
There is a budget of £200 per month for us (two humans and two greedy kitties...!) and I get paid on the 20th of each month.
I'm going to withdraw £200 cash on the 20th, and allocate it weekly at £50 per week. I'll allocate this on the Friday of each week, which should roughly work out. As the 20th is a Tuesday, I'll need to stretch the grocery budget for this month for an extra few days.
If I don't spend my full £50 then any change will go into the second purse. I buy all my stockpiling goods from there anyway, so that should work out ok. I'm maybe not explaining it well, but it makes sense to me!!!
Good deal bought today from the SP - Dentyl mouthwash for £1.50 in Morri$ons0 -

Am really going to try and stick to my £250pm budget now:rotfl::rotfl:
It does, I have about £500 down for miscellaneous and about £200 for magazines for last year, the rest range around the £200 mark too. By far over and above everything else was foodMrs_Addicted_to_Spending wrote: »I know what you mean about the spending SueP19 - I'm there thinking 'why does such and such have to run out again' and 'I'm going to do without it until it's on offer'. I'm also thinking of repairing my lounge cushions (I'm saving for new ones with 3rd purse) - I reckon I could put new linings on 2 to stop the feathers coming out and replace the zips as they are broken. One cushion is actually ripped but I'm sure I could buy a small piece of decent material quite cheap and use the existing cushion pad. All this would probably cost me about £20 instead of £80 I'd originally budgeted.

This was also on one of Radio 2's hourly bulletins - just smiled to myself and thought about all you wonderful people;)When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:

Oh I just smiled away to myself this morning,DS finishes his cereal so I pop to SOS and grab another box and update my spreadsheet
We are now restocked
I must admit having 4 in the family does make my shopping easier as I just make bigger portions of things and can seriously make meat stretch  When we were seriously brassic once, I made 1 chicken portion feed me and the kidsAfter that particular incident, I always made sure I had stewing meat in the freezer now as stew is just the cheapest meal to make and you can bulk it out so easily.
DH and DS are happy today as its taco night which means more DR minceThen DS is off camping for the weekend and DD is off to her grans tonight so we are home alone  what will we do with ourselves

I find the same. I guess it's good old economy of scale. You can't bulk buy fresh foods (well, I guess that depends, in part, on your freezer)

I was behind a woman in S********S when I was buying my whoopsied Cream, I was shocked to see what she was buying and how little she got for her money, she paid £7.50 for soap powder that was on offer a few weeks ago for £2.50 in M@rris@ns, and a few other bits and bobs , £40 she spent and had two carrier bags. and nearly walked away without her soap powder. There are so many folk doing that, just grabbing stuff and not noticing whats going on around them.
I've made a new RULE for my 2nd Purse, I"m only shopping with whatever SM gives me a discount voucher, I've shared a few with my DD's , For the last 3 years or so I used to stock up on M&S stuff with their Jan/Feb vouchers, no vouchers this year , so no shop. Instead I went to A!di, then M@rris@ns , S@insbury's (got 4 through the post b'cos I'd not been for a while, I only used 1 of them), Icel@nd and popped in for an offer at MR T and got a £6 off £30 till spit. I reckon its about £60 worth in total, and because I went for half price offers & B1G1F's, that will give my purses a wee boost.
I still pop in for Small shops to the others ( only if I'm passing), looking for wee bargains .
I really felt in control the other night spending just over £1.1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:
