About the instructions, I'm thinking cut two (measured) squares, attach 3 sides on the inside of the material and then attach zip to the 'free' side. Does this sound about right? I have a sewing machine somewhere as I have made curtains in the past so I don't suppose it'll take too long to do. Just hunting down the material will take a long time as I'm very fussy and want to be MSE :D. Thanks for your help :j.
I sew one side, then sew the zip to the opposite side, then sew up the rest of the way round. putting a zip in last is a tad too fiddly for my liking !!

my quilt covers are being down as sew one short end, sew popper strips to other short end, sew up two long sides - so same principle.

Thanks Mothership - I'm definitely going to make one to replace the ripped one - it's just that the two I was thinking of mending I'm quite attached to (not literally :rotfl:) as I really like them so I think I'll try and mend them first and then if that doesn't work, I'll make new ones. 3

You don't need zips :) You can make an envelope cushion, I can never get zips to work properly.

cw do you make your own double duvets? If so what size fabric do you buy? I really want to make some CathK duvets, but wondering if 140cm wide is enough.

DR chicken & beef strips has tracked on TCB works out at £15.34 for 2 packs chicken (offer at £9.50) and 2 packs stir fry strips (offer at £9.90) as £15.34, awesome :)

DR Chicken breasts are lovely, so are their chickens, they are from France. I like M&S Oakham chicken.

The envelope cushions were what I had in mind, thank you Kerri.

A Grocery NSD for me today so no changes in anything at the moment.

The cupboards and fridge/freezer are all full so I really must try and keep out of the shops for a bit.

    More baking tomorrow hopefully.

    Have a great weekend everyone:)

:) I want to get sewing now, need a project but what shall I make???

Thanks Mothership, I've ordered them the chicken breasts and if they like them they've agreed to pay me £4 a week for a constant supply of meat :D How often do the offers come back round do you know? I can see that I can order all the way up until September at the moment.

    King size quilt covers.....

I'm using flat king sized sheets as I couldn't fabric wide enough. Also means they colour match my fitted sheets and pillow cases, but I can add details (in my case strips of satin type ribbon) rather than having totally plain covers ;)

my £12.50 includes everything :o I did win a years supply of washing powder though so if I hadnt it might have been a bit more :rotfl: I only wash twice a week as well and won it last year, am still on the first bottle and there was 6 of them
Thank you :A. Right that's it, I'm going to try and do a £12.50 per person for next week's budget :). I can exclude washing powder from that (I have some in Stock-a-lot anyway so at least it will be cheap). I will start with stew for the Sunday meal instead of roast, and think up some other cheap meals plus look at the Cheapest recipe threads for ideas. Will be a challenge as I have one teen boy and one pre-teen boy who eat like [STRIKE]horses[/STRIKE] normal boys of that age. I can but try anyway :j.

  • Thanks for all the information about sewing everyone and also Kerri for the web page link. All I need now is the material - but seeing as I hardly ever go in any shops (apart from food shops) as I have too much Uni work to do, that will be a while yet. Still that can be my project for the Summer hols :j. I'm quite excited now (it doesn't take much :rotfl:).

I feel the same as quite a few of you on this site - if only I had been this :money:years ago, I wouldn't have any debts and would be loaded (in theory anyway). Oh well, at least I've made a start now - better late than never ;).

    Some offers:

    Mr S
Muller corner yoghurts pack 6 BOGOF
Flora 2 for £2 (instead of £1.70 each)
    Easter eggs £1 each

    Mr A
    44 packs of Walkers crisps for £5 (2 x packs of 22)

Morning everyone - just thought I'd pop in and say that Mr A has nesca*e alta rica range of coffee on offer at £2.50 (usually £3.98) at the moment, so I bought 10 from my second purse which should last us about 4 months (have 2 in already) with a profit of £15 to boot:D
