I went to the bank yesterday to increase the amount I pay to my ISA to £350 from the end of April, its been £200 previously.
I set it up soon after joining MSE, theres £5,400 in it at the moment, and there wil be another 2 payments of £200 before the new amount is paid. All this money used to go to the SM. I was spending £500-£600 a month on groceries before joining the GC. I'm down to £200 pm TOPS.
Even though I've always done the 2nd Purse, I only used to do it with groceries, and not meat , makeup , gifts etc. I cut out ALL the convenience meals/deals, I was shocked when I totted up what was being spent on these, mainly from M&S. Some of my GB had to go towards my utility bills because of the increased cost. But I can still skim £350 off it. I havent told my husband about the ISA yet LOL, I want to wait till I reach my target. He He, he thinks I'm still spending around £600 pm.
We are eating better now , I'm spending so much less, I was NEVER able to save before, so this is great for me.
Anyway I'm aiming to reach £10.000 by April 2013 in my savings.
This week was really weird for me shopping wise I only needed milk and some fruit, I spent £6 from my GB. And nothing from my 2nd Purse.
OMG I am stunned......in a good way :T:T:T:T:T
I now have my ultimate goal, I have always been good at stretching my money and making ends meet but I could never understand why I could never save anything..............the answer was staring me in the face SM's
Last year upto this point I spent £959 GB this year it stand at £580, I think I have just had football field LB event.

Thats great SueP thats a good saving. It surprising how it can mount up. This site has been a real education for me. I didn't know anything about ISA's , Quidco etc before joining.
The GC board was great, I did that for six months until I managed to shake my old ways, I used to make everything from scratch, then when the kids all flew the nest I got lazy and started buying all the things I always just looked at before. Things I didnt really need.
I blame the SM's they are really good at brainwashing you with all their marketing hype, we dont need half of the stuff they sell. Have you noticed how much of the prepared food they sell now?
I check the Grabbits board regularly and buy what I will use, and the Food shopping board for any rainforest bargains.
I used to love shopping but something has changed in me, I try NOT to spend much now.
AHHHH! I'm trying REALLY hard to control myself Rainforest has a Le-creuset 30cm shallow casserole for £82 almost half the price , I put it in the basket and nearly bought it. I would love it but dont REALLY need it, so I'm away to make a cup of tea and watch the hairy bikers and see how I feel later.1st Purse £114.19 Monthly GB:rotfl::j:wave::j:rotfl:

I love this thread and the GC thread as I feel that I am in the company of like minded people and I am interested to read how everyone is getting on.
Most of my friends just spend what they want on food shopping, clothes etc and most of them are in some kind of debt, hopefully they will have their LBM soon. Sometimes when I say about a good deal in the supermarket they look at me like I have 2 heads.
Keep up the good work everyone and keep the SM profit in your second purses

Sorry didn't mean to make you feel:grouphug:
Just think of all the money I have wasted, it's not like I can say I have dined richly or bought loads of rubbish etc. I just didn't shop around, only bought stuff when I had ran out, probably paying full price most of the time.:(:(
Anyway I will get a roller and you can hitch hike in style xxx
