DON'T TELL PEOPLE TO DO THAT.

You have to be an SIA licensed vehicle immobiliser to immobilise a vehicle otherwise anyone who does so can get a criminal conviction you IDIOT.

    Erm no you dont ! FUC*WIT !
SIA registration is ONLY NEEDED if you charge a release fee get your facts right !!!!!!!! !!

If your car is clamped, immobilised, or towed away from private ground, not a public road…and you are charged a release fee, then the person carrying out the clamping, or contractor, must by law have a SIA Licence and to wear their licence when carrying out this role.

while your waiting, presume you have looked at the tax disk to see if its tax is in date? Also check its insured by entering the registration into the insurance database website here..

If its not insured (or declared off road) the police can seize it! serve them right.

It has insurance, the police have done checks and know where and who it is registered to but have been able to make contact. But will go out and get the reg soon, and check this way too.

    Thanks

So the LL has tarmac'd a bit of waste ground? Are you sure that he owns it? Does it go around to the rear of the houses?

The space next to the house is the landlords.
It was just over grown from the wasteland. The space is in line with the back garden, although you can't see from the picture as the picture is over 2 years old.
If he wanted to continue the the fence from the garden down to the street that would be fine also.

Police can only seize vehicles on public place or road. As has been said many times this car has been left on private land. Personally I'd be that peeved I would ensure they were inconvenienced as much as possible just to make sure they didn't come back again.

We had instances in Sheffield whereby people were parking their cars on private drives in town to avoid parking charges during the day. House owners were powerless to stop it happening unless they put gates or some sort of semi permanent obstruction in place.

This is how ours is, city centre homes where they can only park on the road for up to an hour/ half hour.

Police are coming round now, and coming into to speak to me.
They are concerned and confused about it. They suggested I check if it's unlocked, maybe to move it. But I don't want to get into trouble :o hehe!

Sounds like you could be a student, in which case you'll know plenty of lads. Surely one of then must have a trolley jack. Jack it up and move it to some yellow lines, then call the council and report it.

    So, what happened Nicole? :)

Police have been and left a note on the car that is still there. Warning them it will be instantly towed if parked there again in the future.

I have to check when i'm up in the morning if it is still there. If it is the police will arrange for it to be towed by 10am (when i'm going out)! I just have to call the police by 8am so they can arrange it!

Here's me hoping it's still there in the morning now ;)

Great result tbh, I know so many of you's said the police don't have power/ won't do anything.. they have been great at helping me. :j woo!
    Thanks for all your help!
