Aldi:
I like the individual breakfast pastries - pains au chocolat and choc chip brioches. Similar to the branded ones, but 8 per pack rather than 6 and much cheaper. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I can't plough through 40+ pages of posts, but would like to say that we had Aldi garlic bread for the first time yesterday and I would never buy anyone else's again.
Apart from my own home made, it is by far and away the best we have ever had.0 -

Strange, we have them quite often and they seem fine to me.
Might have been a dud one. Except I tried again a few weeks later and also found it to be undercooked. Fine if you're gonna put them in the oven but I take them to work and eat them straight out of the box. The Lidl one is much more cooked and eats just fine "raw" as it were.0 -
Went to Lidl's for the first time in an age today. Went specifically for (blue bag) luxury muesli that DH loves and further supplies of Stollen. Branston beans were £1.25 for 4. I only bought 1 pack as I can get them anytime for £1.32 in Farmfoods.
I also bought 3 x 99p jars of antipasti. I've already got peppers from Aldi but also now mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and aubergines:drool: form Lidl. All 99p a jar. Hope they taste as good as they look. It'll make a change from pickles with cold meats and cheeses.0 -

thanks
You can use Serrano or Black Forest ham in any recipe where you would usually use smoked bacon. I've wrapped chicken breasts in it, mixed it through pasta, had it in salads. I've never used it in some of the more basic bacon recipes like onion, bacon and potato hotpot or bacon, apple and onion fry-up but I guess you could do so.
My landlady in Germany served up whole Black Forest hams; she and her husband were very kind to me and included me in family gatherings where the hams were a centrepiece. They tasted heavenly.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I have a cold table for tea over the festive season, although Serrano is Italian,it is near-identical to Black Forest ham (Schwarzwalder schinken). I serve it with olives, cornichons, onions, smoked salmon, along with continental meats and cheeses from anywhere.

Any guess at how much meat is in a standard "6.5kg" leg. i.e what %age is meat compared to bone ?0 -

Aldi's Specially Selected mushroom and bacon pate. It's a Christmas line found between the fresh juices and milk. Very nice. Will try the other one turkey and cranberry. £1.49 for 200g
Also if you love the chocs called Poppets, Aldi now do their own called Chocetts. In toffee and mint. Taste the same. 99p for 150gThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
