Still no special mince pies in store (second wasted trip there). I take this as positive proof that God wants me to diet :D

They may not be getting any more, of course - the publicity they got probably caused them to sell far more than they expected.

How about the Lidl ones - the report showed them as almost as good, and at least they're still available. :)

    Xmas Saver!
Lidls have 24 Charmin toilet rolls for £6.80 at the moment.
( I think that's the right price, could be out by pennies, can't find my receipt :o )

I used to buy them as they are vegan. This year the pastry tasted "damp" to me, they just weren't anywhere near as good as usual so I tried one and binned the rest. Or maybe I just expect a superior mince pie in my old age :D

I have bought pastry based food at Aldi, the quiche pastry was almost white the base was soggy it just tasted undercooked, the same with their meat pies. Will not be buying these again.

    Aldi update

    Frozen garden peas - good.
Branigans Christmas chutney - good - very sweet - more suited to sweet dishes than sweet. Large pieces on plum in it.
White fish in breadcrumbs - really nice. Good size portions.
Aldi specially selecte mince pies - can see why they won the award. They are amazing!

    In my tummy!

We bought 3 packs when I saw them in store.

Went back today and none to be found. Cashier said the pallet goes within the day of getting it in. Seems I went on the right day to find them on the last visit!

I agree - the quiche was one of the few dud things I've ever bought from Aldi, exactly for that reason. Both times I tried they were undercooked and soggy. I get mine from Lidl now and they are properly cooked and tasty, for the same price as a tiny one from the major supermarkets.

Have no complaints about the pies though.
