My best buy from Lidl was my heated pad (Like a mini electric blanket, enclosed in a blue velour case). This is my second one and is brilliant for relieving backache. I wore the original out, but this later one is washable.

The very latest version has a raised collar and straps to attach it to your body, but I prefer mine.

My worst ever purchase from Aldi was their Staffordshire oatcakes. though they were from a local producer, whose directly bought product is fine, these were tasteless and slimy; also not a one off, as I took an exchange for the first pack and found the next little better.

I also returned a tin of the cheapest priced tomatoes, as the contents were mainly juice with a small amount of solid tomato .

Aldi's reed diffusers , though limited in perfume range, are strong enough to scent the upstairs bathroom and also the entrance hall. However, their Mistik (Sp?) wick in a bottle type air fresheners' scent hardly travels further than the wick.

As mentioned by Aliboo the salami, pepperoni etc from Aldi is fine.

Normal size Amaretto 500ml is £4.99 but I noticed they were doing a bigger size for Christmas as well, think that one was about £8 but I don't know the size if anyone knows I would be interested

I will be buying some of that and the balycastle Irish cream (decent bailies rip off) £3.99 for Christmas tipples!

  • We buy the Aldi frozen chicken breasts all the time and never have a problem with them and we are fussy with chicken. Use them for fajitas and curry mainly.

I also buy the value mince pack. Brown's up a bit greasy but I de-grease my mince and soon looks and tastes like the dearer one.
Do you just brown the mince then decant the fat?
  • We tried the lean stewing beef for the first time this week, after talking to a stranger who was buying some, slowcooked and it was lovely! And it was very lean:) (OH was happy he got meat for a change!)
Their big rolls in the green packet are lovely!! Squidgy and filling :D
Their mouthwash is prefered by DS as is their squash.

The perry was just ok, nothing special.
We tried a one during a Wetherspoons "cider festival" a while back and that tasted of pear drops. Wish I could remember it's name!!
The pork and apple sausages were nice though.

I got the amaretto which was £6.49 for 70cl in my local aldi the other week.

I have also tried and like the ballycastle, but my waistline wont, monster calories I assume.
  • Hi everyone....hope everyone doesn't mind if I join in.
Usually I visit Aldi & Lidl every now & again. But I have now decided to try & get majority of my shopping from them from now on, after saving quite a bit, when I visited them today.
    Some things I got were:
25 mixed cans of Pepsi Max/Diet Pepsi (local Lidl has on offer of 5 for £1.50)
6 pack of Lidls Freeway Lemon 500mls for £1.99. Which I will take in for part of my lunch at work
6 cans of Lidls version of Red Bull (on offer). Found it tastes just as good as Red Bull/Relentless & at 30p a can....I can't complain
2 bottles of Pinot Grigio wine (tried before & liked it) & not at Tesco/Asda expensive prices. From Lidl
Last week I got a 9 pack of toilet roll from Aldi which for me did were fine when I tried them before.
I find Lidls pre-packed thin sliced turkey & chicken better that what I got from Tesco

Only thing I haven't liked so far was the beef mince from Lidl. Found it had a vinegar taste to it.

    Sorry for waffling on. :D

If your lidls has an in store bakery, its brilliant.
    Really cheap for fab quality.
I love the multi seeded (or is it multi grain) loaf.
You can put it through the slicing machine.
