  • I love Aldi's Everyday Essentials porridge oats. Absolute bargain at 75p for 1kg and excellent quality. I don't have an Aldi nearby so stock up whenever I see one.

Also love Lidl's version of Snickers bars - they got me through the Great North Run this year!
Light bulb moment 04/05 with a debt of £5,800. DFD: 07/05/2006. Student loan (finally) paid off 30/06/08.

Nothing nice about the egg fried rice in a packet from Aldi.

Peculiar odd smell whilst it was cooking and both oh and myself tried one forkful and gave up.

only product from Aldi that I have actively disliked

I'll second this dianasnan...tried it last night and it was vile, very unusual for me to leave food but it was uneatable! Even DS who hoovers up everything put in front of him couldn't eat it.

    I'll third that!

It's really nasty stuff thanks to an overpowering blend of strange tasting herbs and spices, hard to describe but almost like a liquorice taste. I don't know where they got that idea from. Isn't egg fried rice just supposed to taste of rice and egg?

Thanks for the tip, that's another item shifted from the Sainsbury's list to the Aldi one. Sainsbury's own brand is £1.17 per kg.

paulineb - thanks. I'm assuming it has a little tap on the bag??

I'll pick up some tomorrow or at the weekend.

Yes it has a little tap, but be warned it's quite sweet unlike proper perry which should be crisp and dry.;)

Haven't been able to find any Dentitex Sensitive toothpaste in Aldi (or the Lidl equivalent) for quite a while. Anyone seen it anywhere lately?
