Aren't all the sausages at Aldi "outdoor bred British pork"? A huge thumbs up :)

    Not too sure about that.........

"Outdoor bred and outdoor reared are two systems that are commonly talked about by large retailers and these systems are often misinterpreted as free range.

Outdoor bred means the breeding herd is free range but when the piglets are weaned at four weeks they are moved to an indoor finishing herd to be intensively reared. This is great for the sows but the pork you eat will be no different to standard intensively reared pork."

As are all the Aldi basics like porage oats, pasta, rice, noodles, tomato puree, red beans, mushy peas, tinned tomatoes, fruit and veg, chocolate, washing up liquid, milk, eggs, cheese...... everything really!:rotfl:

This is truly awful, never again, it tastes so cheap and nasty

Works perfectly for making sloe Gin and Christmas liqueurs though ;)

Why would you make anything with a gin that tastes "truly awful" ?

Those pointed cabbage in Lidl are good value 45p each. Almost as dense as the white cabbage sold per kg. Coleslaw'ish if you know what I mean.

I like those too but Aldi white/red cabbage is sold per piece not per kg. IIRC.

We did a shop at Lidl this week, so far so good!

£1.65 melt in the middle fishcakes are big and tasty, could argue there's not much of the sauce in them if you were picky.
Cheddar and caramelized onion quiche is tasty, a bit thin more like a tart but it is big.
89p Hawaiian pizza was fine, had proper ham on. Equally nice to anything elae I've tried.
£1.49 Indian ready meals are lovely! You'd pay double the price in other supermarkets.
Tikka Masala sauce (jar with spices on top) was ok, but the Aldi one is better. The Lidl one was far too sweet. Naans are ok though.
The Lidl version of a twix is nice and a good size.

I'm popping into Aldi this week in search of items to fill shoe boxes for the Samaritan's Purse appeal, plus I need to select chocolates and wine for a gift, so any specific recommendations?

For the shoebox, do you have a pound shop, B&M, Poundstretcher? Better off to get things in there as most of the specials in Aldi are Christmas related. As you are not permitted to put things of a religious theme in the boxes.

In pound shops, you can get those 'magic' gloves which fit most hands Loads of basic toys like yo-yos, play jewelry sets pencil crayons with book, depending on what age group you have decided.
