I have a suspicion it may be allowable now, there was a post elsewhere suggesting that was the case. And I have seen at least one person take one through without being reprimanded. Mind you, all our basket are security tagged, I don't know whether that's the case everywhere?

    Yea , it's allowed at my local ALD1 :D

At Mr L's, I took my basket through the till once, in order to pack my bags at the window bench .... till person said I couldn't take it outside of the store and I said I'd not intended to. It felt more like a friendly heads-up rather than a reprimand.
  • Yes our store has stacks of them at the back of the store now by the packing shelf and all baskets are now tagged which makes sense really!

The Aldi Moser & Roth Luxurious Chocolate Selection has reappeared for Christmas - 212g £1.50.

Doubtless the suppliers vary from time to time, but I'm pretty sure they're Thorntons at the moment. Not exactly Hotel Chocolat, but very good for the price.

Another vote for the Lidl stollen at £1.99 for 750g

( though I did brush off a lot of the icing sugar which is rather liberally smothered over the top )

Weren't they larger last year (1 kg) ?? Or is my eyesight going that bad....

I must investigate what the basket situation is locally.

They were 750g (net weight 700g once all the icing sugar is scraped off :D).

But you're right, they were 1kg in years gone by.

  • The new Extra Special Vanilla Forentine ice cream is gorgeous in my opinion. I know it's a bit late in the year really, but new ice cream flavours are my achillies heel (well, most new foods really... explains the podge)

I must look out for those. I buy Moser Roth 70% cocoa chocolate all the year round and it's delicious. I love the marzipan hearts too but unless I hide them from myself, they won't last until Christmas.
