Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

What have Lidls done with their Tenery Cheese Triangles !!
For anyone unfamiliar, they are like the Kraft soft cheese or Laughing Cow in a round cardboard box.
For years the Lidl Tenery cheeses have been a delight to open with the little red draw string which extricated the delicious soft cheese within. Simple, effective, worked.
Not content with a product which worked they have now gone and meddled with the cheese opening mechanism and instead of the little red string they have introduced a wide red polythene band that surrounds the foil.
It's blumming useless !!!!
What you end up with is a triangular soft cheese with foil attached both sides which is extremely messy to remove ! My wife was in such a mess with one the other day it was unceremoniously flicked in the bin !
Disgraceful Lidl. Bring back the string !!0 -

Well, Aldi cheese triangles still have the original string opening mechanism.
They come in light and full fat. Only 59p a pack of 8 triangles. The more I live, the more I learn.

Lidl have had a big display of Pannetone and Pandoro in for the past couple of weeks so I eventually gave into temptation and got a 1kg Pandoro for £3.99. Opened it yesterday and it's very very nice, even more so with butter on!
Can't see it lasting very long in my house so may have to purchase another :-)
Unfortunately it shrinks every yearValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Annoyingly Del-Rivo fruit smoothies (1L cartons) seem to have disappeared from our Aldi (the supply seems to have been dwindling for several months). Does anybody still have it in theirs?
A manager tells me he thinks it should return, but given that it disappeared for about 6 months a few years ago, I'm not sure I necessarily believe him!Stompa0 -
Thanks to everyone who posts I find your input very useful. I shop at Aldi and Lidl so your opinions really help.
I may be 'preaching to the converted' here but I've recently discovered the MyLidl Chat section, with reviews and comments on Food and Drink. Maybe someone might find them interesting?
I actually found it by googling Valley Spire cottage cheese as I'd found it very watery and wondered what others thought of it. (All of their reviews are good so maybe it's just me?)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

i presume you are talking about

in the product review section i see they only have a "like" button - not a "dislike". Though I suppose you could read the reviews to see if people actually like it or not. To see if these are genuinely all reviews , and they arent filtering out the bad ones , you would have to put a negative review and see if it is left on0 -

Many thanks for this, posting on there might actually be read by someone in charge of products somewhereFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

I know what you mean about the review section, it's often good to take things with a pinch of salt! I'm talking about the Chat forum which does seem to have negative as well as positive comments but I do notice there seem to be a lot of regular posters! https://www.lidlcommunity.co.uk/t5/Food-Drink/bd-p/FOODDRINKThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

You can review just about any Aldi product on their web site; including Specialbuys.
Every product listed has a Description tab and a Ratings and Reviews tab.
I often review stuff in the hope of getting a £50 Aldi voucher in the Reviewers draw, but no luck so far.
Without fail, negative reviews appear to get a response from Aldi.
Link is to fresh/bakery as the current products homepage is fireworks, which will change in a couple of weeks.
