Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

Just as a point of view on the heating.
Could be that the chiller cabinets are still set to the summer settings eg. keep it very cold.
I have a Sainsburys where I hate going through the chiller area.
They could also be cold at the moment due to head office instructions on not turning the heat on until a specific date or outside temperature level has passed.
I once worked in a cinema chain where we could not turn on the heating until late October unless there was snow outside. The more I live, the more I learn.

The staff in my store never complain because it keeps them cool when rushing around to stock shelves.
And I for one welcome a cooler ambient store temp whist shopping.
Our local Aldi employs quite a few ladies my age, maybe they decide on the temperature setting, I don't mind
Got a funny little special at Lidl, a pair of reading specs with LED lights built in. Great little gadget. Came with wee case, neck string and 2 extra pairs of batteries (they probably won't last very long). I paid what it cost for a string alone at the opticians before...

I think this is a great deal as it is zero calories, my question is are the artificial sweeteners bad for you?Olivia Rose0

I don't normally have issues with Aldi store temperature, but if a EH officer turned up, it would be forced to close as it was much colder than the 14c. As I went outside to warm up.
The staff were complaining. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

That's beyond our pay-grade in this thread.

Yes, I'm also a lady of the sensitive age
I far prefer being cold, where I can add more clothing if I'm uncomfortable. But there's no way of regulating internal heat when you're too hot. And when I get too hot, I get angry, irritable and unpleasant to be around0 -

Well, you can't complain refrigerated stock waiting to be put on the shelves will spoil when staff are called away to attend a busy checkout!
What would you prefer? To wait an hour to checkout or to feel slightly cold because the staff are doing their job efficiently?0 -

Why does having zero calories make it a great deal? If anything it is the opposite - as it does not contain any of the only expensive ingredient (sugar) then it is no deal at all.
Agreed. Never buy sugar free products. The payback of artificial sweeteners is far more costly, both in terms of health and money, than any immediate savings at the till.0 -

How does this compare with sugar filled products ?
There are probably equal factions for and against the use of sugar versus artificial sweeteners, but a lot of the 'research' is questionable, as it is not carried out according to proper protocols.
If you are diabetic the sweetener is the lesser of the evils,anyway.0
