It's very tasty! It makes quite a thin soup so if you prefer your soup a little thicker then add a diced potato.

I remove the florets of a whole head of broccoli and leave to one side then chop up the stem to saut! in a little butter with an onion and 3-4 chopped cox apples (I leave skin on). Season with S&P, add a litre of veg stock and simmer for 15-20 mins. Add in the broccoli florets and simmer another 5 mins before blending.

    Yum! Will deffo try this:p

I really don't get people's love of tinned / packet soup. It's so full of salt and chemicals, whizzing up your own is quick, easy and produces much tastier results even when heated from frozen, at an inexpensive price. (Believe me, I don't waste unnecessary time in the kitchen).

I often cook home made soup and am aware how cheap, quick and easy it is.

Nevertheless I still love tinned tomato soup.

More like it's becoming increasingly irrelevant as people realise that they sell pretty much exactly the same as all the other supermarkets - but at much lower prices. There's very little you couldn't recommend.

I actually have a complaint for once! :D

Bought a pack of the hazelnut and choc chip cookies from Aldi and was thoroughly disappointed to find they were smashed to smithereens! I think out of what I can only assume were originally 8 cookies (hard to tell they were so smashed) that only one cookie survived intact :(

We could reinvent it as: Lidl vs. Aldi vs. Other.

i.e. posters compare a product between Lidl & Aldi and say which is better (or whether someone else does it better).

    e.g.

I prefer Aldi Houmous to Lidl Houmous because the pack size is smaller.

I prefer Lidl Malted Wheaties to Aldi Malted Wheaties because they taste exactly the same, but the Lidl ones are cheaper (for now).

I prefer Aldi 4x Fat Free Greek Yogurts to Lidl because the Aldi ones are creamier with better flavours.

I prefer Lidl's version of "Mug Shots" instant pasta/noodles to Aldi and the main brand, because they taste better and have more veg in them. (Aldi's version are not nice at all).

Lidl have had a big display of Pannetone and Pandoro in for the past couple of weeks so I eventually gave into temptation and got a 1kg Pandoro for £3.99. Opened it yesterday and it's very very nice, even more so with butter on!
Can't see it lasting very long in my house so may have to purchase another :-)
